  1. These are the reasons why it's been increasingly harder to continue playing this game: Why did they decide to nerf guns that didn't require any changes? There is definitely a drop in damage and increased recoil in the lambert carbine among a few of the others rifles. I won't mention specific guns because it's not necessary. Also, the server has been crashing more with this latest patch that focused on increased "server stability". I played yesterday to help get the server started and I have to admit I have more fun playing solitaire. The game is down right boring! This game has less guns, very few useful unlocks, and the same boring maps. The whole "future" concept just didn't work out. I had triple the amount of time logged in BF2 as opposed to BF2142. It takes them 6 months to get a patch out, and it still fails to deliver anything useful. They make changes to satisfy their own needs and don't give a darn what anyone else thinks. With new games coming out such as Call of Duty 4, Crysis etc.. this game just doesn't bring any competition to the battlefield. It was fun when it first came out, but lacked replayability. While this game does have a good buddy system and great teamwork, the the cons outweigh the very few things this game did right. This game was a huge step down from BF2. It seems like they took BF2, hacked off large chunks of the game and put in the new models/skins. Unless they make some serious changes for BF3, EA is going be in some serious trouble.
  2. Ditto, they had pretty terrible PR and they couldn't figure out their priorities. They should have released a patch to fix the constant server crashes.
  3. I just played normal last night after playing hardcore for a few days and I have to say I enjoyed hardcore better. Normal mode takes less skill, it's just a spam filled mess. Hardcore mode at least requires you to think about what your actions, considering you die pretty easily. It wasn't fun just spawning and dieing in the normal mode, it was just spam spam spam. Not fun at all.
  4. Only gripe I have is that they should have put more points between the higher ranks. They did a good job by including 55 ranks, but making the highest ranks only seperated by 4,000 points was a whole step backwards. Maybe they will realize this and add prestige mode in a patch.
  5. It's mostly likely going back to hardcore once we get another server setup that is playing on the normal mode, whether they admit it now or not people will get bored with regular mode and want to play some hardcore. I don't know if friendly fire will be turnerd on, it will most likely cause more grief than it's worth.
  6. Hmm...I'm not sure then. The reason I asked was because when the patch was first released this morning some sites had bad files, so people were getting error messages that said the server was running a newer version. You can go into the BF2142 directory and verify that the map is actually in the map folder, if all else fails you can try downloading it from the website and try re-patching the game.
  7. Where did you download the patch from? And at what time?

Gator just made that as a placeholder, there won't be any stats until they make a BF like system or make stats a server side thing like most HL2 games.

This was made under the pretense that Call of Duty would use a login system like BF2142 does to log your stats. Since you don't need to log into an authentication server and stats are stored locally, you really don't have a Global ID. I just put in the name I use to test out the button.

You don't need a disk to play with the retail version, so it's your choice.
  11. Please don't just mention a map, please specify which game type you would like it played on. This does not mean hardcore or regular, but search and destroy, death match etc.. The tiny map, shipment, is not on the server as of right now.
  12. Think it's somewhere around 22, I'll have to double check.
  13. Shipment isn't on the server.
  14. I'm sure hardcore can be removed, but that server will stay as domination only. We will be putting up a second server that will rotate through the other game modes as soon as we can. Whatever the majority of the people want we can do. I also prefer "regular" mode, I like having the HUD and mini-map there all the time. Hardcore mode does promote camping like you said, all people need is one shot with the m16 to drop somebody. We also need recommendations for which maps to play on which game modes for the second server, any feedback would be appreciated.
  15. Then try playing other game modes, COD4 didn't only ship with domination and the 5 maps we play. It seems like the people who say there isn't teamwork aren't trying to work as a team, or they are still getting used to the game. Once you get settled in and used to it, I'm sure you will have a better experience. I've actually noticed more people using VOIP as the days move on.
  16. Insurgency failed because they were all talk and didn't deliver, they didn't coin the term "realism". The server was jammed full ever since we put hardcore mode on, your argument doesn't make much sense.

I hope they don't cater to the needs of the moaners/whiners like EA did with BF2. They gave in to the peer pressure and made some really stupid changes, those people will complain anyway, It's already began. Please don't make the same mistake EA did.

I still don't know how you can compare Battlefield and this when they are completeley DIFFERENT games...but oh well.
  19. Agreed Phunky, 2142 just never had it in the first place. BF2 was a great game, 2142 just never cut it. COD4 is the way to go. These games are also completely differemnt, it's like comparing apples to oranges.

    What
  21. sharp65 replied to Phrogg's topic in Gaming
I've seen plenty of teamwork, all of the people who keep saying they are just spawning and dieing are playing the game like battlefield. If you want survive you can't do this. It's not the same in the sense you need to move from flag to flag as in Battlefield, but you do need to work together.
  22. You need to get kills to unlock attachments, it says it right in the challenge screen what is required at each level.

You must not be playing on the right servers then I'm guessing you were playing on a 32 player server, this game was meant for smaller 20-24 player servers. This really is an incredible game, a lot better than battlefield. Sorry you feel that way. Your not going to immediately get into a game, it takes some time to adjust. There are many different game modes you should experiment with, it's one of the best online games I've played in a long time.
  24. Mine changes fairly regularly because I'm going through all of the weapons and doing the challenges in order. But I have a m4a1/m203 class, m4a1/silenced class, general lmg class, and a general sniper class. 5th one rotates whichever gun I'm currently doing challenges for.
  25. At first I didn't pay attention to this because most prime time shows are taped months in advance. But this is an outrage, now it's personal. Link.
