One thing I wouldn't mind is a "auto-join when spot opens on a server" thing. but I've been able to connect to ranked servers easily today so I'm not complaining.

That topic title was misleading...

This morning I spent 40 minutes attempting to connect to a ranked server (since playing on unranked servers is completely pointless). I just want to be able to load up BF2 and play on an EA East Coast server with a decent ping. Please!

It sure was nice of EA to make enough servers for about 1/20th of the community that plays BF2.

I realize that you get the gold, silver and bronze medals for placing first second and third on a server, but the other medals just kind of tell you what you've done good. If you play a class long enough you with get a "basic (insert class name) badge". I looked on the EA website and could find nothing about medals, gun unlocking or ranks (other than saying they have a backload of ranks to proccess). Your post leads to confusion.

How do you unlock weapons (in the full retail game)? What is the point of improving your rank? (answering this may answer my first question) Are medals and badges only useful to look at? do they serve any purpose? Thanks for your answers in advance!

I am having trouble connecting to any ranked servers other than "Internode" ones. For some reason they say I am not connected to the internet I don't really mind since I get good ping on the Internode ones.

In case anyone else was planning on securing thier copy before the release date here's what you get in the package (at least it's what I got at Futureshop). http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v82/Avtraz/FullKit.jpg Inside the box is a nice set of headphones made by Logitech, the resemble the "Internet Chat Headset " I already bought about a year ago. There are a few differences but the biggest (and most annoying) is that the free headset has no in-line volume control so you have to alter the volume on your computer. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v82/Avtraz/Headphones.jpg They are silver with "Battlefield 2" written on the side of each earpiece. My final verdict on the headset would be that it is ok but I'm sticking with my original headset. There is also a coupon for a 20$ mail-in rebate on a Zboard gaming keypad with a BF2 theme. I'm not going to use it because the keyboard I have now works fine.

The reason they reduced the server size was because the BF2 Demo server was eating up bandwidth like a pre-schooler eats glue. It was using more than all of the other game servers running on the main server box combined. Gator could probably give a better explanation.
