Are you sick and tired of playing BF2 at a lower resolution than the native resolution of your monitor, or playing BF2 in 4:3 ratio (1280 x 1024 etc.) when you have a widescreen monitor (1680 x 1050 etc.)? No more do you need to have this problem with the following solution.

 

On some or rather most computers, BF2 does not detect all the resolutions the graphics card supports. This may depend on hardware and video drivers. There is a workaround for this. Create a shortcut unless you do not have one. Right click the shortcut and select Properties. Then click the Shortcut tab and add +widescreen 1 +szx WIDTH +szy HEIGHT at the end of the line in the Target field. For example, "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +widescreen 1 +szx 1920 +szy 1200

In order for it to work with Xfire you need to do add the command line in the Options. Click Tools and then Options. Then go to the Games tab and select Battlefield 2. Add the above-mentioned command line under Extra Command Line Parameters. Click Apply and OK, and then you are good to go! You can now join a server via Xfire and keep your desired resolution.

Thanks for the great info, but you may want to not change the font color in future posts, because those of us who are using the light blue theme find it hard to read. You can see what I'm talking about by viewing this post here:

OK I put in the cammand lines and still not working . Got this to work once before then changed harddrive and now can't get it to work . I know this is a old game but still play it alot .

I think you can change the resolution ingame, under options.
