My computer is down

Featured Replies

My computer is trashed with viruses.. So I may be down for a bit

I may have to reformat

my recommendation is ESET Nod32. To get rid of the infestation run ccleaner from piriform to get the temp files gone. Malwarebytes, from malwarebytes.org and if its still mucked up use combofix. Also scan with AV of choice. To ensure a clean system Wiper and reload! Get everything the way you want sans games, then use an imaging software to make an image for quicker reinstall.
Actually Decaff this is rather basic knowledge. Anyone who is really into computers knows about these programs and ways of doing things. You too will soon learn young grasshopper.
Damn Tom are you an IT guy?

actually thats my day job now heheh Nerds On Site!
nah your not computer stupid I just happen to do this stuff for a living. Some stuff is pretty common for folks that are closet Nerds :D But stuff changes pretty quick and its hard to know everything. I have a team of 600 Nerds feeding me daily info on what works whats new etc etc. Plus the clan here has some great techs and I always pick up something new :D So now you know Malware bytes is the bomb and so is combofix. Your toolbox has two new tools!
Malwarebytes is one of the best programs out there for removing viruses. Combofix is great too but if you have a rootkit GMER is the best to get rid of it. Keep a decent signature based scanner on hand and keep it updated also your Windows updates are important as well they are mostly security patches. Don't worry Decaff by this time next year you will have learned alot more about computers than the average computer user.
