February 24, 201312 yr Finally went and got my CCW today. Aced the written test and impressed my instructor on the shooting part. Needless to say I aced that as well. Oh and I picked me up a new gun last night to carry. Ruger LCR 38. Let me tell ya, if your looking for a good concealed weapon that packs a nice little punch and is light weight. I recommend this little jewel. Not to mention it is a very nice shooter and very accurate. http://ruger.com/products/lcr/specSheets/5401.html
February 24, 201312 yr Nice! Good job buddy! Hard to mess with the reliability of a revolver. Although you know what I carry - http://www.berettausa.com/products/nano/
February 24, 201312 yr You had a test? Weird I just took a four hour corse with live fire cert then filed for it.. Where do you live NY? CA?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
February 24, 201312 yr Congrats Slash, in Mississippi there is NO test and NO shooting involved, I just gave them my money, got finger printed and that was it. When i first got it about 9 or 10 years ago I did have to wait 120 days for my permit to arrive, but now renewing is instant. Mississippi permits now last for 5 years instead of 4. I carry a Bersa Thunder .380, i also have a S&W .357 but its kind of big to conceal and a hog too.
February 24, 201312 yr Yea same here as MS, no test or live fire. Take the 4hr class, pay your money and fill out the paper work.
February 25, 201312 yr Author Yes Gator I did get a holster for it. I purchased a Tagua Leather inside pants holster, black. http://www.taguagunleather.com. And for those of you that didnt have to take test or live fire....lucky you. If I had my way, I would like to see it across the board like Ohio requires and some other states. Nothing against any of you but some of these people that they let carry a gun around in some states is beyond me. Here is our requirements http://sheriff.franklincountyohio.gov/services./concealed-carry-permit.cfm.... Not to mention I'm hearing there is a 3 to 4 week wait just to get in to file my application. Thats how far out they are already scheduled, crazy huh?
February 25, 201312 yr Yes, I also believe it's better to have a full background check, an understanding of the laws governing the use of a firearm, and most importantly, a safety course. I like that holster ...should conceal well.
February 25, 201312 yr Well most people that apply for a CCW are law abiding citizens, and do have a FULL background checks, and know about gun safety. if you are a felon you aint gettin no permit, but i guess most felons dont give a rats ass about laws anyways, im just sayin!

February 26, 201312 yr Congrats Slash welcome to the club. Also to clarify there is an enhanced concealed carry in MS that you must fire and test. Basic concealed is what yall have. The enhanced carry in MS gives you a bit more freedom in carrying. the only place off limits are a police station and a courtroom in session. The class for enhanced should run 8 hrs and reqire range time but I have heard of some folks pencil whipping the instruction so beware of your instructor is falsifying docs. once you have gone through the enhanced carry class you bring the certificate to your local trooper station and they'll put a sticker on the back of your card.
February 27, 201312 yr Nice slash here in NY u have to get a pistol permit. Which is $200 and a 8hr class. To get concealed permit its even more difficult now thanks to Cuomo. Which has to be renewed every 5 years. Current pistol classes are full so I won't be getting mine anytime soon.
