Posted February 22, 201411 yr Hello again everyone. I fairly recently bought all the components to build a new PC to get back into online gaming, except for someway to get wireless onto my new computer. What are yall's thoughts on wireless adapters and such for a new PC and which ones you'd think work best? Thanks in advance.
February 25, 201411 yr I have this Intel one with an external antenna that works well http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833106135
February 25, 201411 yr Sorry, I didn't see this post for some reason, but I would recommend using a powerline adapter. A powerline adapter works throug your electrical system inside your house or apartment. Simply plug one unit into the wall and connect it to your modem or router, and then plug the other unit in the wall near the PC you need to provide network access. It's just that simple. Just remember that you must plug these devices in the directly into the wall and not into a power strip (for better connectivity). The best deal on those types of devices are here: TP-LINK TL-PA4010KIT AV500 Nano Powerline Adapter Starter Kit, up to 500Mbps http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/61F0K5SmIKL._SL1500_.jpg
February 25, 201411 yr I have these, but, while they work good, there is no substitute for being wired. and I mean modem or router to pc. as for wireless you cant go wrong with netgear. I have a netgear wireless router for laptops ipad iphones etc. Comcast for internet. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833122489
February 25, 201411 yr The Netgear powerline adapters rbevan referred to will also work, but they are 200Mbps throughput vs. the items I showed you above which are 500Mbps and cheaper. The TP-Link adapters shown in my post are smaller than a credit card and work fantastic. I ran a hardwired vs, powerline test and found that the powerline work equally as well as the direct hard connection setup. I would never use WiFi for Netflix steaming or gaming. Just my two cents. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/618nI0HbrtL._SL1500_.jpg
February 25, 201411 yr So Gator, nothing plugs directly into the PC? Yes, you plug a standard Ethernet cable into the device and the other end in your PC
February 25, 201411 yr Also, you can add as many devices in you house as needed, and they will all connect to the powerline adapter that is plugged in to your router.
