Dear Battlefield 4 player,

An important change is coming to your Battlefield 4 experience for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 this summer.

A new Battlefield user interface is being introduced to provide a more intuitive and centralized experience for all your Battlefield games. Changes include:

•  Functionality for squad creation before you enter a match

•  A recommendation engine to suggest relevant maps, modes, and more

•  Unified UI so you can swap between all your Battlefield games

from the UI (as long as you own them)

Introducing A New Way To Play Battlefield, Starting With Battlefield 4

Try out the new Battlefield user interface, designed to improve the experience of playing with friends.

ByDan Mitre

We're always looking for new ways to improve your Battlefield experience. While we're currently hard at work creating Battlefield 1, we still want to improve the experience for past Battlefield games – changes that will help unite Battlefield players regardless of whether they're playing Battlefield 4, Battlefield Hardline, orBattlefield 1 in October. That's why we're happy to introduce something that will provide a more intuitive and centralized experience.

The new Battlefield user interface is designed to improve the experience of playing with friends and to bring relevant content to your attention.

Now, you're able to create a Squad before you actually enter into a game. Being able to join up with your friends and join into a game together makes it a much smoother experience, and helps make sure you're able to spawn on your buddies as soon as you're in the game.

There are other changes as well that you'll want to see for yourself, like a recommendation engine to suggest maps, modes, and more, giving you a more relevant and fine-tuned experience that quickly gets you to the things you want to do.

This new UI is currently rolling out in beta form in Battlefield 4 for a small audience, and we’ll have more information on additional testing opportunities in the coming months. This will also be released withBattlefield 1 (and Battlefield Hardline soon after that). Once it's rolled out for all three games, you'll be able to easily swap between the games as long as you own them. Want to jump from St. Quentin Scar in Battlefield 1to the skyscrapers of Shanghai in Battlefield 4? It'll be easier than ever.

Let us know what you think, and stay tuned for more updates as we approach the release of Battlefield 1 on October 21!

Who cares about XBOX and PS4 gamers? I don't. We should not.

So why the heads up?

Because this is also coming for PC gamers. It's sounding like a battlefront setup to join the game.

No it should not effect our player count.

I received an email yesterday and thought i would post it since they were starting the beta process.

This will effect PC because we will get this feature.

If you played the BF1 Alpha you already have seen this....and it does work very well

Exactly.  It wasn't a bad interface and I thought I put up a few screenshots of it.

The impetus behind the decision is to make it easier for fans of the titles to create parties of friends and move in between Battlefield 1, Battlefield 4, and Battlefield Hardline.

What this basically means is that players will be able generate squads from the UI before joining a match, which will then allow one to choose any Battlefield game that all of the players in the party own to jump into and swap between. Furthermore, Electronic Arts also says that the UI will offer up suggestions for maps and modes by way of a “recommendation engine” that might be of interest to fans of Battlefield 4, Hardline, or the upcoming shooter set during World War I.

According to Electronic Arts, the unified UI will initially apply only to Battlefield 4, but once Battlefield 1 drops on October 21, it will be updated to accommodate the new game. Hardline, however, will get support later on down the road, but the publisher hasn’t offered specifics as to exactly when that will occur.

The news comes from DICE and Electronic Arts emails to players who are signed up for the Battlefield newsletter, and the companies assert that in order for the unified UI aspect to work properly, mandatory updates will be required. Once applied, the feature ought to benefit fans who own all of the titles digitally, as it will be much faster to switch in between the gameplay of modern automatic guns to Battlefield 1‘s stripped down weapons without having to swap out discs.

  • 4 weeks later...

Here it is for the PS4. It releases for the PS4 and Xbox One first and then later on PC. It'll have all the Battlefield games starting with BF3 and all future BF games as well.

How is the feel of it logging into the different games?

Does it work pretty seamlessly?
