light cant escape a black hole, but only because the mass is so great and the gravity is so strong it pulls it back in. its why i thought maybe gravity could be faster than light since gravity also seems to be determined by mass.

ok time for a real answer from mehreal life faster than the speed of light?it is possible (though not proven) that light is NOT constent. light back when the univers was first created (according tto the 'big bang' theiory') traviled faster than light does today. now i'm going to go on a lim here...when the big bang happened one of the energies produced by the 'bang' was light, and since light would of travled faster than the matter and all of the other + and - energies, plus the idea that there was absolutly NO other energies in the univers would of allowed light to travil much faster b/c without any type of energy drawing, pulling, and absorbing the light there would'nt be any 'friction' to slow light down.

You are wrong here. Gravity doesnt pull the photons in. They have no static mass remember ? What it is doing, its shifting the space, warping it around itslef. The photons just go using the path set. This also happens on objects the mass of a planet and its call gravitic lensing.

Actually Jedi......gravity does effect light. Thats exactly what a black hole does....the gravity is soo strong that light cannot escape....thats what the event horizon is.....I know for a fact that light IS effected by massive amounts of gravity.

"Electrical current in cables (electrons) travel approximately 1 inch/second"i find the idea of electric current moving 1 inch per second kind of confusing. i must be misunderstanding you. i know when you flip on a switch to a light that it is not instantly on. i know there is a lag in between the circuit being closed and the light coming on. however there are usually several feet in between the switch and the light and it almost appears instant because our eyes are not sensitive enough to detect that minute of an amount of time. this is where my misunderstanding comes in i guess. the way im reading it is that at 1 inch per second it would take almost a minute for the current to get to the light. even a foot of wire in between the switch and the light would take 12 seconds. anyway to take a wild stab at the dark... i couldnt stay away from this topic. the blink of an eye is rather fast is it not? i've never seen a measurement for it though. also the eye is able to move pretty fast itself. fixing on one thing to another with very little effort.
