December 12, 20168 yr Not worth playing until they make easier to differentiate teammates from enemies. Going off the uniform color alone isn't good enough most of the time. It didn't sound like that was something they were planning on changing either but who knows, we'll see if anything changes with Tuesdays patch.
December 12, 20168 yr It's my favorite mode. It does take some getting use to but once you figure out the settle nuances it is pretty good. It takes to many rounds to kill a guy in softcore. Plus the spotting and the kill cam so everyone knows where you are. You have to play slower in hardcore and not worry about your KDR so much. You have to learn the uniforms because it is a little slow with friendly Doritos. They screwed up the mortars though. You cant aim them so no one really uses them. Hardcore was easy in BF4 compared to BF1. I only recommend hardcore for the more skillful. It is hard to get use to but once you do, it is so much more fun.
December 12, 20168 yr I do like hardcore over the softcore mode I just really dislike the way they implemented it in BF1. Their current solution of 200% bullet damage instead of decreasing player health turns half the weapons in the game into way over powered cannons. Forget sniper rifles, I can shoot you in the foot and its a 1 hit kill from anywhere. That's just wrong. Im hoping that they make significant changes to it like fixing the mortars, adding variables so that they don't rely on 200% bullet damage, etc however I hope they do this in conjunction with giving admin tools or shortly after. Those are needed far more because looking at the numbers for BF1 it is sadly sliding down and Im not sure that the game will last as BF4 did if they don't do something quickly. Im loving the game but the asshats we have to deal with make me want to just watch the TV sometimes.

December 12, 20168 yr I'm actually fine with normal mode. We were stuck with it for what, a month and a half? Most players have gotten used to it by now anyways.

I actually crunched some numbers after reading the patch notes, hadn't had time to post here though, and from what I'm coming up with the damage reduction on weapons puts HC in BF1 on par with BF4 as far as actual kills etc. They also are saying the aiming with mortars is going to be fixed in the new patch. Other than that the only issue I have at this time with HC is the friendly/enemy flagging and TKs. It forces a slower pace in game and TKs come into effect as flagging currently doesn't work in vehicles like tanks etc. I'm gonna have to play a round or two once the patch drops but the only thing else I see that wasn't mentioned is kill logging I don't want to see where they were I just want to see who killed me. December 13, 20168 yr Personally... I think its just an excuse for scouts to be picked constantly. If you look at it, HC just caters to them. One-shot anything, anywhere you hit it with your rifle? Check. Turn off kill cam so your cozy prone position at spawn is safe? Check. Did they bump up damage from explosives? Not that I can see at all. Still looking at 3 Limpets to kill a light tank, and that's if it doesn't self heal. Speaking of self healing... they turned it off for infantry, but vehicles still get it with insta-repairs and holding x. My opinion is that track/engine/wing damage shouldn't be fixable in HC. Support gun damage, even with a 200% boost, is still laughable compared to any other weapon set. 27*2=54 per bullet. Shotguns were already at 100+ no matter what they state, bolt action medic rifles are a 2 shot in HC from what Roadrunner tells me, SMGs seem to do good damage and shoot quick as can be. So yea, support with the relatively slow-firing, recoil decrease as you hold down the trigger mechanic really get hosed in HC. Can I still do well? Sure, on any map that doesn't have only wide open spaces (Argonne, Amiens, Fort if up in the Fortress). Everything else is just spawn and die to a sniper bullet over and over, and the only annoying thing about that is it doesn't have a to be a GOOD shot. And they took away hero classes. Which is good. Since those are from Battlefront and have never been a part of Battlefield until now. Good riddance. Even though setting people on fire is SO FKING EXQUISITE. But really, besides making scouts have wet dreams, HC is just a bag of broken mechanics at present.

December 13, 20168 yr The damage reduction in this patch should put snipers back where they should be. Like I said I still need to test it but should be a one shot to head / center mass and 2 anywhere else. That is where BF4 was so hopefully well see. Also there is much LMG love in this patch as well as nerfs to shottys. Im thinking well see pretty different gameplay tonight.
December 13, 20168 yr Patches, Will do a review of HC after today's patch and update on what I find. Honestly I can play either way but the game itself is pretty solid and there are a lot of things I dig about it. They far outweigh the things I dislike. I agree that repair should not be able to be done in the vehicle and there shouldn't be a quick repair. It does promote teamwork to take down a heavy tank but after looking at the notes they are making the landship better and nerfing the heavy so maybe those will both be doable unless you get a really skilled tanker and then you will need to team up on it. IMHO its a lot of small things a goodly many of them addressed in this patch so we will see tonight.
December 15, 20168 yr Long story short nothing has changed. Played last night with Axle and the fellahs. Still 200%. Still getting sniped from 20 different directions. Even being sniped and one shot with medic rifles. Still great fun though. We dominated our side as usual. Effin casual pubbies. Will get in depth review once I see a 125% game.
December 15, 20168 yr I have come to the conclusion that I hate this game. It's like a cross of COD and team fortress. Movement is like a cartoon, jerky motion and not precise, getting overpowered by a pistol is absurd. The patch was a joke.
December 15, 20168 yr I disagree. I find the game to be very smooth, and the gameplay slowed down a tad from BF4 to allow for tactical deployment/movement. The complaints that most of us have are not with the game itself, but with the server situation, which hopefully will improve as time goes on. Once the server issues get fully addressed, we will move ahead as we have always done in the past. Everyone has their own opinion of the game, but most of every I speak to love the game. It's easy to sit in a Battlefield 4 channel and bad mouth a game someone has hardly or never played. I'm glad to see the pistols have adequate killing power they do, as they were so nerfed in Battlefield 4. I find that to be a positive, and not a negative. Besides, everyone can use the pistol, so if they are as powerful as you stated, you might want to use it.

December 16, 20168 yr Classic and new hardcore modes would make me all happy in my britches. Just sayin. Would be nice to play the current one where you have to ID enemy by uniform etc but also have classic mode to be able to have as the go to. I could see using the New version for a slow play tactical server and classic for traditional HC mode.Id really like to have a tactical server were it isnt 12 yr old spraying and praying Ive got an idea for a server that I may even foot the bill for providing we get the tools that would make it viable. All i'm sayin fer now.
December 19, 20168 yr Well finally played on HC last night. I have to say it feels a lot more like BF4 HC than it did. Snipers are still a 1 shot at distance with higher end rifles but I did see non headshots / center mass not kill.(Was siping guys off mountain in sinai map) A LOT of folks are screaming that taking the damage to 125% ruined HC but IMHO I like it a lot better. I was tired of being sniped by Mondragon Sniper medics in one shot. All in all it seems to me to be a positive change and like Ali said server owners can set the damage to 200% if they like but official is 125%. He also alluded to the fact they may add in a classic mode HC with is 100% @ 60% solier health just like BF4 which would be awesome. I dont mind the soldier id so much as the only team kills I had last night were from 1) people behind tank and I didn't see them and ran over them( Also it seems that the doritos show up in most vehicle views now), 2) indirect fire accidents aka mortar( which the aiming has been fixed wooo), and 3) snap shots in CQC that I would have killed them anyway even in BF4. It happens and as long as you keep the primary color of your team's uniform in mind it does really minimize the TKs. All in all we had fun and pretty much dominated. Had my first 20k round last night.
December 19, 20168 yr I also played Hardcore and did not like it one bit. Here are my issues with it: - Snipers can snipe undetected and unabated (you will notice in game that there are a lot of snipers in Hardcore, because Hardcore is a big wet dream for them) - No kill Log (BF4 Hardcore had it) - No kill notification (BF4 Hardcore had it) - No friendly name tags (BF4 Hardcore had it) Unform recognition is BS ...Some of the tan and brown uniforms are not as easily differentiated in many instances - Increased damage to 100% vs. reduced 65% health (What were they thinking?) - Landmines and trip bottles kill friendly players (Same as BF4, but I didn't like it in BF4 either ...too many stupid pubbers get you unnecessary TKs) I know Axlerod will play it come hell nor high water. He plays is because it's labeled "Hardcore," when actually it should be called "Stupidcore" If and when they fix it, I will then play it then. Until such time, I will play "Normal" mode. The "Classic" mode looks enticing, but I don't forsee these clowns doing anything about it. The good news is we will have 2 servers to play on; one Normal mode, and one Hardcore mode to suit your fancy. The rentals will come online once those knuckleheads to get the RSP fixed.
December 19, 20168 yr WellI like the fact that there is no kill cam honestly. the fact that they can see exactly where you are is Fracked up and the reason I never played on a softcore server till now. I disliked the way BF4 allowed you to turn off terrain features so you stood out to anyone even if you were utilizing cover and concealment. BF1 does not allow that so good on them. Most snipers are idiots and go for the highest perch they can find which makes them easy targets. Id like to have a kill log and notifications but I played BF4 during the time that was jacked up so meh. Its enough to know im dead. Knowing WHO did it isnt gonna break my heart. It does notify you who killed you if it was a TK. Like I said 125% feels almost identical to BF4 hitwise. The other stuff while I agree could be done better just isn't a deal breaker for me. Ill continue to play both
