July 20, 20178 yr Author I have my character parked in the server to help get the server populated. Yes, I woke up early and set the map cycle to start with the new map. When you get a chance, please read my post here in the Battlefield RSP forums.
July 20, 20178 yr The new map is terrible in my opinion. It's like the smallest map in the game and no matter where you spawn, there will be someone shooting at you. Even the main bases are so close to the first flags. Constant grenade spam and people hiding in corners since it's a dark map.
July 22, 20178 yr Here's my problem with this July update - the latency soft lock option - Now I don't know what they mean by softlock, but my mate was kicked for latency from your server last night - he plays thru a 4G phone connect - he's rural. And I'm experiencing zoom pings myself - normal ping is in the 70s, but it will zoom to above 200 and I get the usual running in place, or others appear to be running in place. I warp. I barf. Here's the problem for me - my zooming ping may be fixable with my ISP but I can't do traceroutes to the game server COZ THERE'S NO FREAKING IP ADDY! This update - Implemented a latency soft lock option where players with a ping higher than 100ms higher get kicked automatically. This appears to be a death nail for my buddy, tho. He gets similar ping on West Coast servers - above 100 - where he lives. The rest of our gang of 4 live in the midwest, and all of us get near or over 100 pings on West Coast servers. I've been googling about the soft lock and latency, and I checked out the server settings - there is a server setting called lenient latency, but I believe that's the one about adjusting a player's high ping when there is a gap in latency between 2 players, ie, lag compensation. That's been in since .... June? the latency notice on the right that you see when your ping gets high? Dice. Can't fuzz 'em, can't deal with them. Read your BF forum post, Gator. Nuff said. PS. found this in a twitter feed - You are getting kicked when u r above for 10+ secs above 100 for 10 plus seconds is a kick. Ok. Now I know that much.
July 22, 20178 yr I personally ping 120ish all the time to the TAC server because I'm on the west coast. We have the ping soft lock feature turned off for 100 ping.

As you can see ...we keep "Latency Lock" turned off. If it were set to 100ms, you would see the server listed as a "custom" server. We certainly appreciate you and your friends playing in our server, but the auto-admin stuff DICE has placed in their server software is beyond our control. -Gator
July 23, 20178 yr thanks for the replies. Yah. .. I'm writing it off to a one time experience. My mate and one other were at 100 or over last night thru 4 or 5 maps and never had a problem.
