Update: please note this new version has now limited us to an unreal 8 player or atleast until we can figure out this new license agreement. We are not extremely happy as the new license agreement was geared toward companies making money which we clearly do not. We may be looking for another solution for voice coms and this could start to be a problem for what had promise to be a truely great voice coms program. Stay tuned for updates.

We had to pay for a dedicated ventrilo server and here is the link that will give you the new server after you installed the new version

so by ventrillo being mandatory means that I will be kicked from the DC server just because I dislike/would prefer not to use ventrillo?

No the update is/was required IF you wanted to use it. Basically meaning the old version would not work with the new version on the server. It is not required to play.

how do the vent clients and servers tie into their servers i thought the were stand alone programs that ran soley on the computer using it and didnt have to connect to them, how can they make this mandatory?

hmm *cough cough* read the help file or ask another user. There is a place where you can adjust the settings and it will blast your ears out. You can also control the game sound if needed as well.

I installed TeamSpeak on the server and Jasun and I tested it. It was not pretty. So, I went to an "Authorized" agent and purchased a 50-user Ventrilo server at $15.76 a month until we finid a better alternative.Ventrilo is the easiest to use VOIP (voice over IP) on the market, and has the best sound quality by far. They also added some new features that are real nice ...like joystick support, a new MOTD (message of the day) as well as other enhancements.The new Ventrilo server should be online within the next 12 hours. I will make a link on the site that will configure your Ventrilo client to the proper server. Be sure to download the latest version when you get a chance.
