July 12, 200421 yr Some time ago, having problems with tc_basrah, tc_caen and obj_willow, advised by Mac I deleted those maps from my FA folder. I was supposed to download them from the server during the game using the fast map download utility. But now everytime I try to connect while one of those maps is in play, I get an error saying the game cannot continue without the map or some similar message. My question is - is fast map download disabled? And if it is - what now? Peace.Bane
July 12, 200421 yr afaik its still up, i d/led basrahs edge the other day fine, and have done with a few other maps recently
July 12, 200421 yr k...only certain maps are available on the FTP for download, odds are all official maps are not on the FTP server, but on the main server where it uploads it to you at 3kps.
July 13, 200421 yr Author Well, I can't download caen, willow, armory or basrah, and those maps just don't work. Can someone host them for a while? I hate to sit on my butt, watching my favorite maps go by... >_<
July 13, 200421 yr Author They are default FA maps. Reinstall Firearms Yes, I know they are default. I just wanted to do it the easy way, without messing with FA. Now it seems the easiest way is indeed reainstalling it. *Sigh*
July 13, 200421 yr The truth, is that the fast map download comes from our web server, and I just received a nasty-gram from our ISP stating that we have exceeded our bandwidth for the month July (its only the 13th now). One of the server admins placed too many 3rd party maps on the FA server causing excessive bandwidth usage. This caused me to change all maps to defaultThe good news is that I have just rented another server to replace the FA server. The new server will have a whopping 1200GB bandwidth a month, double the memory (< 1GB) , and an increased network connection from 10MPS to 100MPS. It should be operational within the next day or so. And yes, that means the FA server will have different IP address (same datacenter).Sorry for any inconveince this may have caused you. I will be hit in the wallet for the overage of bandwidth, so don't feel so bad.
July 13, 200421 yr Gator, I think I speak for most of the FA community when I say that we appreciate what you and the SC do to keep the FA community alive.Thank you.
July 13, 200421 yr 1200GB BANDWIDTH?! ARE YOU NUTSSSSSSSSS?!That's like, Fileplanet server quality :)Gator rocks.
