what...

that looks EXACTLY like Desert Combat

if Battlefield 2 is just DC with a different name, I'm not going to bother to buy it

WHAT!!! THAT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE!!! If you like Desert Combat, why the crap wouldn't you buy BF2?

Fight against the Man.

I never liked DC in the first placeit was fun for a bit, but in the end it was just plain annoying
Maybe you should know what you're talking about before you say stuff like that. EA released 3 pictured. Two of them were from Battlefield 2, the 3rd one, which is what you just showed us here, is from Desert Combat, which I think is obvious anyway seeing as how the graphics aren't good at all. It's from Research and Development, they wanted to see if they could get that feature to work.I'm also not sure where you got your information from concerning Trauma Studios going back to work on Desert Combat. Almost everybody on the team is now working for EA, they have no intention of returning to DC.
Geez - don't tell me you guys are surprised about this. It's old news that Trauma now works on BF2 and yes - that's why DC will discontinue after this last release. Also stating that 0.8 wont happen is also untrue. DC 0.8 will be called DC_Final - that too is no secret. It doesnt make sense to waste time on any additional DC releases since yes - BF2 is coming out in April of 2005. Now from a dev perspective - what's wrong with them using DC maps to test and develop new features? As new maps are being developed for BF2 - they need "something" to work with, wouldn't you agree? What I really like about the screenshot is that it validates Trauma's participation on the BF2 development. Fan's of DC will agree that this is a "good" thing - not bad.The whole "DC is dead" discussion is a joke. DC will live on in BF2.

"To answer some of the questions, we modified BF1942 to handle fast roping and many other things as a testing ground for new ideas in BF2. We used DC as a test mod to try out the ideas, however nothing in DC is in BF2, DICE in Sweden is making all the artwork and engine."

6-8 months ago is a long time. Things have probably changed since then. I'm pretty sure they won't be going back to DC, especially considering that work on BF2 won't finish until Spring. They have a job working for EA now, why would they want to give that up and go work on a mod for an outdated game for free?

ya, it would make sensefor them to use dc maps, given the similiarities in setting between the two

Alright I'm just going to end this now.

Officially: .7 was the last release. "DC Final" is an unofficial release created by some very dedicated DC developers (off the clock) and testers. Unfortunately Trauma studios is unable to continue Desert Combat as their schedules simply cannot handle it. Speculation about contracts is pure speculation and I cannot answer any questions about it.

Whats will be in DCF: Well obviously some bug fixes. They are working with a skeleton crew and they can't get to every little thing on every map. But I think the team got most of the big stuff.

Also some balancing things. The hummer is obviously fixed. I can't post the changelist. The bulk of the changes are cosmetic. The explosion effects have been revamped. There's a couple of new animations. The sounds are WAY cooler. The smoke trails for certain things have been revamped. Some new vehicle varients. A couple of innovative weapons for sure. New maps of course. We're still not sure what maps will make it - so I'm not going to list it.

It will be an AWESOME release. There are SOOO many refinements that it makes the game feel like modern combat. The old releases (to me) felt like a BF42 mod. Now its a whole new game.

The other DC mod is DCX is nearing release as well

for those of you that do not understand English

DC IS NOT DEAD

So.. Basically.. What you're trying to say is.. DC is dead? Dang.. Didn't see that one coming...
he was jokingbut DC is dieing...kinda reminds me of another game we play...*nudge nudge*

reading is a gift

ike -DCF tester-

Nah, a computer is a gift. Reading is just something you have to do to get A's in school.
"we play?" I don't think I've seen you playing FA in a long time, UnwantedHero. You're not a part of "we" in that sentence. Besides, more people in this clan play FA than all those other new games, so I think it'll still be around for quite a while. It'll probably still be around by the time you people get bored with JO and BF2 and move on to another newer game. 8)
sad as it may be, fa dies with hl2

fa will not be dead until everyone who stops playing it. = you play, it lives. but i think we will fing a similar mod to FA in the hl2 community and even there i would say more of an evolution then a death

just ask Gator his thoughts about the death of FA

no, I meant FAand don't accuse me of not playing FA.It is true I havn't been playing in a bit. You can blame my abscene on a 2 week vacation in Montreal, another 1 week vacation camping, and now the fact that I can't find the current 2.9c patch (or whatever is the current one) so i can join the TA server
