February 15, 200521 yr I am planning on having Lasik Eye Surgery soon. Anyone else here ever have the procedure done? Please share your thoughts if you did. If you did not, please do not share your thoughts. 8)
February 15, 200521 yr Its when they remove your eyes and replace them with cybertronic ocular implants with thermal vision and 5 megaJoule eye lasers. I wish... I believe its when they use lasers to slice and dice away problems with the eye.

February 15, 200521 yr patap, its a procedure that involves lasers to make your vision better. it gives you perfect vision without glasses or contacts. I wish people my age could get it i refuse to wear glasses
February 15, 200521 yr My wife had it done and came out 15/20 vison. Before she use to wear contacts and had horrible vision without them, so bad she couldn't read a Stop sigh without them. She had the operation done back in 1998 and it was around $4000 total. Now the procedure is better and cost less.
February 15, 200521 yr My Mom had it done as well as cataracts too. Both eyes are great. She only needs glasses to read up close. Not bad at age 74. It is a give and take. They can adjust your focal length only by so much without sacraficing long distance or up close vision. In other words. if you want to soley work on Model building. The your far vision will suffer. if you wnat to see like a hawk. Then your near vision will suffer. The doctors usually find a good happy medium for "Normal" vision. Have no fear. If she can see well. You'll be fine.
February 15, 200521 yr My dad was thinking about getting this. Basicly they use a laser to cut off the lense of your eye so they can reshape it. You can leave almost as soon as the operation is done. Many pro athletes get the operation, it almost always helps but it isn't always permenant. I'm going to have it done when I can afford it because I'm tired of conatacts... Go for it Gator
February 15, 200521 yr Gator check into the Doctors in Rome, GA. My mother had it done there and from what I understand that doctor is one of the best in the the southeast. I will ask her for his name tonight.
February 15, 200521 yr Wish I could get that treatment, contacts tend to get scratchy and sore after about 10 hours, and I usually want to be able to see clearly longer than that. My glasses tend to get really dirty, and aren't up to my vision, so watching the TV is a pain in the eyes
February 15, 200521 yr It's not perfect, my mom got that done. She couldn't go to the pool for a year. It had to do something with the chlorine. Also her vision still isn't perfect. She will have problems seeing out of one eye every well. I would get it but I have had glasses ever since the 3rd grade, I look more nerdy w/o em. Also the surgury involves takeing a small, persice laser and cutting the 'bad' part of the retnia away. (lots of sp there)
February 16, 200521 yr cool id have it done to but i cant afford it right now... i hate my glasses ,let us know how it comes out
February 16, 200521 yr my brother in law had it done ,his vision is as close to perfect as it can be now.i'd say go for it,i too would like to do this cep my insurance dosen't cover any of it.good luck Gator
February 16, 200521 yr 20/20 is "Normal" You can see the " 20' " line on the eye chart at 20'. 15/20 is seeing the eyechart at 20' when others have to be at 15'. It may be the next line too. The next line is visible to the people at only 15' when others can see it further away 20'. So stay at 20' and read the next line down will give you 15/20 in whatever eye you can read it with. And so on. I used to have 10/20 but now have 15/20. Ow well.
February 16, 200521 yr =o! DON'T DO IT GATOR! I don't want teh alpha and omega, Gator risking the sight of his eyes Your eyes can go explodedid! Well.. it can happen

Stupid computer making my eyes blur.. I should be gettin an eye exam soon tho. I don't have glasses, so I'm probably just making it worse, rofl :X Hope that doesn't happen to you pat

If it's concern about the operation, getting lots of reliable info of the odds of it helping and odds of any risks, will help convince you if doing right thing. You certainly got lots of feedback here. Perhaps there's internet forums with posts of eye surgery patients where you'll see plenty of facts. Like the automotive forums where i'm learning lots about my vehicle. If/when you go for operation, if me i'd take carrot to pull out of my pocket when doctor appeared. i'd take a bite, chew a bit and say "aaaa, what's up doc ?" He'll likely smile and say "that's smart you wascily wabbit as carrot's carotene strengthens eyes".
