Lock death spec to team only

Featured Replies

In the past we have talked about fade to black. No one really liked that idea, I didn't either but it would help. So instead of FTB why not use lock spec camera to team mates only after death?

I understand we need to watch players sometimes, but that is what spec mode is for.

no, i even quit some servers just cause its on.

When you die, you are locked to only your team mates.

Dropping to Spectatur Mode is still free roaming. We already have the rule for people not to sit in spec mode.

well i guess my opinion wouldn't matter as much as your css'ers but when i do play .

1 think i like is that if i gotta waste 3 mins in between every death,at least let me watch everyone to try and learn from them.plus i like to see the hp's of the guy who killed me to see if i got them at all.if i was restricted to just my own team or nothing at all,i doubt i'd ever bother to play css again.

i think you "leet" players gotta understand we all don't do well in css,and things that may seem dumb to you all may be the very difference to other players that keep them interested.otherwise lower the time per round.cuz to sit and wait 3 mins with nothing to watch but 1 guy left on your team whos sitting behind a box(and has been for the last 3 min) completly sucks

ok :flame:

rant done :D

Doing this would stop the ghosting. Personaly I think ghosting is a bgger problem on the TAC server than wall hacks.

It has nothing to do with being "leet" Ktown. And if you want to see how much damage you did to the enemy bring down your console and read the damage list.

no :flame:
how do you GHOST in CS:S? :S i always thought that meant changing your name to their location. and in CS:S...well it doesnt change your name until the start of the next round. :/ so i say no.
It's a problem if it's on for Admins. We can't spectate suspected hackers in between rounds, and if we drop to spectate, it can become obvious.

Stevo people ghost when they have 3rd party chat programs like Ventrilo and Teamspeak and give away there positions through that

:flame: didnt know that( er...think of it)

TheSock pretty much took the words out of my mouth. Dropping to spectate mode can make it way to obvious to hackers that we're watching them. Plus many other great points.

However, if I'm in Ventrilo, I WILL enforce a no ghosting policy. I catch any of you guys doing it, you'll catch hell from me

Kol_Klink']Spectacular mode? I always play in that mode.

That's not the mode their talking about Klink. You Goof. Besides your not all that spectacular hehe :D

The obvious ones are a given, you don't need to watch them. If you really have to spec someone you are going to be running a demo on them to submit to SteamBans as well and then you need to be in spec mode.

Do like the rest of us do.

1. Bring up the options panel and change your name but do not hit OK

2. Bring up the servers list and get ready to rejoin the game

3. Disconnect

4. Hit OK to change your name

5. Hit JOIN to rejoin game

I do this all the time when I'm going to run a demo on a suspected hacker. It takes all of 10 seconds to do.

The only time you are going to spec a person inbetween rounds is if they are so obvious its pathetic. The really sneaky ones you always need to drop into spec mode.

Anyways, I feel ghosting is more of a problem than hackers.

That's too many windows.

Pop up console. Type "disconnect." Type "name whatever." Type "retry." Voila!

No i wouldn't like it. Sometimes a freind like jairyn is playing on the other team, and when I die i wanna spec him.

or maybe someone like Sock is on the other team, and i wanna spec him to laugh at him  :lies: :peace:

(just kidding, lol)

So i wouldn't want it. It would prevent ghosting yeah, but i don't see that happening alot on the server anyways.

Thats about as close as you can get in voting. We may do this....I would like to hear from more people. If the people who voted either way but did not post could post what they think also it would be helpful.

Ghosting has nothing to do with changing names. Its the act of spectating opponents or free roaming in front of your teammate who you are on vent or teamspeak with telling him, "OK there are 2 left. One is in the apartment, the other is at market. Guy at market is low hp, go get him first." etc. Allowing players to only spec their teammates would completely solve this problem.

YES from me.

I vote no on this one. Anyone who plays on the CSS server knows that I die. a LOT. And in exceedingly stupid ways, such as being shot in the head after unloading 8 loads of buckshot from the pump into someone's back. Now then, I'm also almost always the first to dying the round as well, so there has to be something exciting to watch if your own team is camping after saying "Rush the Bombsite!" :D The boredom from the watching a camper can slow your reactions resulting in a flaming spiral of death and pwned-ness and unpleasantries.

So, think of the people lacking survival skills and don't restrict dead-vision to team only.
