April 8, 200520 yr OK, so you know how we (especially me) have been making all those jokes about rubber bullets, nerf bullets, firing blanks, etc. as of late, in reference to the seemingly impotent state of some our weapons. Well today I did an impromptu test. I was up in the tall tower in cobble, and i saw a bunch of debris, so i picked out a milk can, and fired an entire clip of DE into it from about2-3 feet. No way I could miss. What I saw, made me go AHA! Not one of those bullets touched the can, I coul see the bullet holes appear behind the can, but it did not move or anything. As I continued to play I noticed, as did others, that there really were some glaring occurences of "Holy Crap, only God himself could have made those bullets miss". One particularly nasty occurance happened to Kanevil tonight on Aztec. Down in the water he engaged me from no more than 20-25 feet with a SAW, 100 rounds later, I was still alive and able to cap him with my DE, though I had to reload a couple times (hmmmm...) It was pretty ludicrous, by all rights i should have been dead, but not one bullet touched me. Maybe Im just paranoid, but Im not the only person complaining of dissapearing bullets, and I think I have the proof.
April 8, 200520 yr I'm fairly sure in CS that strafing causes cleaner, straighter shots than standing or crouching; which is obviously absurd. Nothing annoys me more than someone strafing out a door, hitting two people in the face with one burst, then ducking back.
April 8, 200520 yr Me and a few other people were knifing one day. We'd stab each other a bunch of times and blood would come out but it'd only say I hit or got hit once or twice. It's all very silly.
April 8, 200520 yr Yeah I have noticed that. It might be because you are lagging slightly and the lag messes up the shots slightly.

April 8, 200520 yr Defcon, you could have a 10mbit connection and still lag. It's all about the route you take to the server. If you hit some bad hops... game over. The biggest problem I have with shooting in CSS is when you are right up on a person. You could be 1 foot from the person, unload a full magazine into his chest/back and have him not die. It seems sometimes the weapon actually goes through the player model.

April 8, 200520 yr There have been so many times I've been about a foot away from someone and unloaded a whole clip on them, expecting that to kill them easily. Then I end up dieing and finding out that not one of my 30 bullets hit the guy no matter how much my crosshair was on him. I once fired about 150 shots from the M249 on about 3 or 4 CTs that were in the water on Aztec. Only got 1 hit. I was above them looking down too. Man I hate it when stuff like that happens. Eh, what is the ticrate anyway?
April 8, 200520 yr if the xhair is full bloom, of course you won't hit it. Strafing is NOT more accurate than standing or crouching. Simply stand or crouch for a few seconds and wait for the xhair recoil to go down, and you can hit stuff super easy
April 8, 200520 yr Author i have popped off shots at a stationary target, with a fully zeroed reticle and have watched as none of them registered. They would hit, as I wouldnt see any puffs of smoke, etc around the target, but they just wouldnt register
April 8, 200520 yr jesus you guys are really big whiners... there isnt rubber bullets blanks w/e, if you see bullets hitting AROUND the target, there is no lag, no registry problems, ITS YOUR FAULT AND YOUR GUNS FAULT. no kidding if u shot 100 rounds at a guy and u couldnt hit him, the gun is completly uncontrolable at that point. Pistols, fire as fast as u can since taking ur time with precise shots will get u killed. Deagle, you will be able to get a guy with an AR standing from a distance in no more than 4 shots EASILY. defcon with your situation with the bucket, I would like to see a demo of it just so i can see the whole situation. SMGs always fully auto sometimes bursts with P90 or UMP from slightly far distances. with TMP/MAC10, go guns blazing at very close range. but not TOO close, as someone said before your player models probaly go through each other. most ARs are usually all around very effective. all ARs except AK occasionally are good with close combat. best with medium range, most ARs are also very good with long distance, except i usually cant kill someone with full health with an M4 with a 3 round burst, only does 90 or so damage. all others are very good. Para, good with close/med range. i started this post venting my anger at all this whining now im just talking about gun accuracys :/ so in conlusion pick your guns wisely and control your gun according to its type. btw i would like to know about the ticrate, im not sure what thats all about

April 9, 200520 yr If your cl_updaterate and cl_cmdrate are messed up then you can actually get a small lag. Well I don't know if you could call it a lag or what, but it makes the people be a little bit in front of where they actually are. I don't know if you guys had heard me complaining earlier on the CS:S server about my friends messing up my console. They ended up changing the cl_updaterate and cl_cmdrate to something else and I got tiny lag jumps that totally through my aim off horribly. I found out later what the problem was and fixed it. It makes a HUGE difference, trust me. Default for it is 20, thats what I set it back to. Though you might try changing it to see what works best for you.

April 9, 200520 yr Author yeah, I used to be a big proponent of what Caste and Pat are saying, but there have been a number of times, only as of late I might add, that the situation has just been a little to fishy to call bad aim or improper use of weapons.
April 9, 200520 yr I don't think bad aim can account for wildly different success rates on nearly identical shots on a regular basis. Also doesn't explain how regardless of how many shots appear to hit a person, none of them actually do.
April 9, 200520 yr Also I have seen shot make blood on a player and then see that they are not damaged. I agree that it seems to not register at times.
