if the FA server goes down I will be very very disappointed. It's the only game that I really can have fun with, BF2 only has mic's if youre in vent or a squad, but playing FA and just yelling at Klink is much fun

please take a step back and look at what you're saying.Sure, FA is a fun game, but keep it around because it has good mic support?

That's silly really

well duh its not just cause of the mic support. But you have to admit that adds a lot of fun to the game. You cannot disagree there.

FA is much faster paced, its easier to stay in a game and watch the time fly by. Its just a much better game to play if you want fun quick.

Doc']Honestly I don't think so. Modding (sp?) has made many games sell more over time because they keep it fresh. So I think allowing a game to be modded (sp?) is good and in the benefit of the game companies :D

Prime example the up coming Civilization IV was specificaly build around the idea of being moddable (sp?)

As for car companies I don't know :D not my line of work :D

[DIAL]Doc

The car companies: every company is now working in max 3-years circle. Every 2-3 years every car should be changed to 'new' ('new generation Honda Civic') or at least be renewed ('better halogens', 'improved breaking system', 'new line of design' etc. etc.). That system works in Europe due to depreciation (standard depreciation of cars is 3 years) and looks like that: your company wants to buy you a new car, you choose Honda Civic, after 3 years the car's value for your company is 0 (zero). They are ready to buy you a new car. if Honda couldn't offer you a 'new generation Honda' you would move to Toyota because they are starting to sell a new model of Corolla.

As for the game industry- as you noticed above- a group of 100 persons working 9/5 (instead of 24/7  ) can create a game in a year. Every year there's lots and lots of games that can be 'revolutionary'. You can't stand behind because avid gamers would move from EverQuest to WoW, from HL to Quake etc. etc. if they smell 'better graphics', 'improved AI', 'interesting on-line matches against living and dead and undead'.

Maybe they didn't yet find out how to do it, they soon will (maybe it won't be a game as NHL 2005/ 2006/ 2007- but Quake 2006/ 2008/ 2011).

Side note (1): why do you need NHL 2005 and 2006 and 2007? EA could easily update rosters via 'bonus packs' or simply on-line (for money).

Side note (2): can you believe that BF2 wasn't in the top 10 in Poland (according to some sources)? I doubt whether HL2 was top 10... BUT now, in top 10 you can find: 'Madagascar- a game', 'Barbie is going to a ball'. Did you know that the games like that existed?

Well you'd at least get some better technology for your car, and not every consumer will update cars every 3 years (due to the high cost of doing so)

But personally I have to wonder sometimes at why there is a need for a 06 version of the same car as last years 05 version :D

Well I do partially agree with your NHL, Madden or most sports game statement. But that's just money making. And has not much to do with the modding argument on your 1st post :) I still stand by my statement that no game company is intentially creating more games to stop modding :D

More money to be made that way :p and no I don't work for EA :p and often wonder about their sports game line up but oh well it sells so I guess it works for them

It's possible, and I wouldn't be surprised. I do know there is these kind of games. Also have you looked at sales charts for Japan or any other country that is much different than yours? You'd be surprised what kind of games sell there. A lot of this has to do with culture and the ethnic enviroment (not sure that makes 100% sense but don't know how to say it better). Also don't forget most of us on these forums are more hard core gamers than the big 'casual' gamer mass out there, and they are the ones that make the charts not the few hard core FPS players around :p

:D guess this thread got side tracked

Firearms used to be fun, but it seemed to be more of a chore for me towards the end "now that ive uninstalled HL1 and all related HL1 mods".

BF2 is team based and its awsome if u play with friends or clan mates. Its also fun when you hear River Rat and Strobes talking over vent. River Rat = George Bush, Strobes = i dunno where hes from but its funny when he gets angry and starts shouting.

<3 :D

First of all, I have'nt seen you play with us at all. It's a team oriented game, and playing with clan memebers is the way to go. Brush off your mic, and get into Ventrilo with us. :D

Going from FA to Battlefield 2 is a big step, and there will be a learning curve. Once you get a little proficient, you will have a great time.

Playing solo (by yourself) on some strange server is not the way to have fun. You made the first step by purchasing the game, so all you have to do now is learn how to play it.

As far as the FA server goes, we can keep it up as long as you like, but I am here to tell you that most of the time you will be playing with yourself, because there is no longer an official FA website bringing in new players. :D

Not true, I went looking for you guys the other night found you playing on one of our servers, I went to join in but it took so long for the map to load by the time I got in to play you were gone :) I can't use vent because it causes major lag for me, I get enough lag on the servers as it is. I have to play on servers that have a good ping, the worst ping I could play on is 170. :)

I know BF2 is not like FA it's different I'll give you that. I just can't get into it, maybe with time how ever long that might be, I will like it but for now I don't.

Well I wasn't playing alone I had Hogan playing with me. :p On one of the EA ranked servers which had a good ping at least :D

Thank you Gator for keeping the FA server going, as summer ends and many of us are going back to school, the server will not be as busy as it was during the summer, if we have to close it down maybe have it up and running during the weekend Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Mondays? So we can still get our FA fix. :p

It's hard to let go something you love and enjoy, I don't mind playing with the same group of people it's like hanging out with the same group of friends. But like friends some of them move on to other things in life and you lose them, just like FA we have made so many friends and lost so many friends along the way, it's not always easy to except the end, whether it's a game, a friendship, a relationship or anything else, it sometimes hurts to let go of the things and people we've grown to love and/or enjoy being with, having fun, having good times and laughter, making great memories to think back and reminisce the good old times.

I'll be playing FA if anyone cares/needs me :p

the server isnt an issue, a few more clones of the current FA server could be run on our current box. Just running it weekends would be a waste of resources all other days seeing as that and css are the only things running on it. But when the FA server gets some traffic its mostly empty, as is the css server gets little traffic nowdays too.

lets look right now: 5 people in css server, and 4 in FA server, and its 9:30pm EST, the high traffic times. right now resources are being wasted that could go toword bigger and better things.

I joined the clan when Battlefield Vietnam first came out. I never have played FA. So I am obviously biased.

Nothing against the guys who play FA. :D

I would love to be able to have a Ranked BF2 server for TAC as well as a small, inexpensive, decent FA server or a server for whatever mod(s) we felt like playing. For example: DOD:S, CS:S, and FA. That would be AWESOME but way more than our present budget allows.

Unless we get donations on a regular basis. Something is probably gonna happen and some people are not gonna like it.

If TAC does go Bf2, then a full time ranked server is the only thing that's going to last.

I know that would be the only place I'd play

i wish i could even run BF2 with out more lag then your supposed to ever even have with a 3000 doller laptop. do what you want, but FA as a mod is gunna take a heavy hit if you guys cut the power on it. not that it matters, since FA is nearly dead as it is. CS:S, dunno it was the only server i used to play on for CS:S, but when everyone left for BF2, no one would play on it, so i quit CS:S.
I retract my "keep it" vote. Dump it and move on. Firearms is a hot bed of elitists and doo doo heads....

You've finally come around tekz0r!

Lay FA to rest.

R.I.P. FA

There actually is a way that we can have both for about $179 a month, but we would have to vote and commit to this action. I am keeping my eyes open for a better deal, but we all really need to meet sometime and discuss it. :D
I say we beat all of the rich people up here who haven't donated yet :[

*runs away with pot of gold*

GET AWAY FROM ME RIPPER!

i cant really play bf2. so i guess you konw my answer. plus bf2 is slow and boring

-G

slow and boring? You haven't played BF2

I feel this many times while playing and you, TeK, are one of the few good players that doesn't constantly have and attitude. It takes a lot of the fun out of the game. I type Klinked after I kill one of these elitists just for a joke because that's what Klinked is and they go on and on about how leet I am not. LOLOLOL, it is great fun but at the same time annoying.
