After i spend over 7 hours to install the new patch proberly, i know have starting problems. After i want to start the game, there is following error comming up:

Error in Application.. The Application couldnt be initialize proberly (0xc0000005). Klick ok to end the application.

I really have no time to look again hours for hours trough some forums or installing the game again and again, until it works for a while.

At least i can play the game at my girlfriends home, but not on the Armory Server, because she has only a slow internet connection and the ping is too high.

Perhaps i am too old for this.

Nah. I am 40. Gator is older.

It may be a hardware issue now too.

Some suggestions to try.......

If you have two sticks of ram remove one and test.

If you are running EAX. Turn it off.

If you are running Hardware sound. Goto software medium.

Also of this does not work. I can send you some more detailed things to do.

Try this too.

Defrag the harddrive.

Delete all stuff you do not need. Just get your computer in the best shape it can be for an install.

Once this is done.

Install to a fresh folder. Delete tha old one and the one in your documents.

Install the second patch then install 1.03.

Let us know.

I too have problems with BF2. I get kicked/loose connection once or twice in the first hour then I can usually play forever after that.

:p

Don't give up Arnie, we can help. besides, look at all the great minds here at TAC. :o

I am almost done moving, and I hope to be online on Friday evening if all goes riight. Mac has given some good suggestions, so I would try them first. I can get with you on Vent this weekend when you have time and we can troubleshoot the problem. Hang in there..... :p

The other day I was kicked to desktop twice in a short amount of time. I was kicked, then joined the server again and then kicked again.

Had the same problem but whenever I'm out of ammo and pick up a kit because I NEED A GUN.. it kicks me to desktop........ it wierd.

however you guys won't see me for awhile, :"( my chipset fan die on me and looks like my chipset melted some and now getting all these issues with computer.... sigh..... ... I"LL TAKE PICS!!! ...... I'll get back to you guys later

yeah basically all you can do is as the previous posts said. uninstall, delete all related folders. clean up / defrag your computer reinstall....and keep trying.

question.....do you change your video settings often?

if so you may have created a lot of cache therefore causing your computer to work harder to see what video settings to display upon startup.

if you want to try a quick fix.

delete everything in C:\Documents and Settings\ur name\My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache

defrag your computer......try starting up bf2.

other than that man i dont know what else to try.

good luck

Thanks for the help and the good wishes. I will check it one by one, as soon i have time. I hope it will solve the problem, because i really like the game.

Some of my "kitchen sink" recommendations....

  • Disabled Virus Scan. Add scan exclusions for EA Games folder and subfolders. Add exclusions for other software that may be routinely scanned during online game play.
  • Run CHKDSK /r for C:
  • Disable all other applcations before running bf2.
  • If you have any firewall software disabled it temporarily.
  • Defrag your drive to make all BF2 files contiguous. Download contig.exe at www.sysinternals.com if you wish just to defrag the C:\EA Games directory. It's free and I use it to keep particular folders always defragged
  • Update all video and audio drivers.
  • Reduce all video and sound settings to try and enter game with the basic settings. Then enable one by one to check to see if one causes failure.
  • Launch TASKMGR and look at process and performance tab. Click view>select colums and add memory peak and regular usage and CPU usage/time. Look for processes using near 100% processor time or large amounts of memory.
  • If system still failing uninstall all BF2/EA software and start from scratch.
  • Look at the BF2 hardware/software requirements and see if you meet specs. Any other games or applications having a problem? If so then this may allude to a system problem and not just a BF2 problem

Other various stuff....

  • Follow some if not all of the tweaks here ==> http://www.tweakguides.com/BF2_1.html and maybe disable things like the startup videos.
  • To optimize PC for net connection try this ==> http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php
  • Try logging what files and reg keys are open during failure with filemon.exe and regmon.exe found at www.sysinternals.com
  • Check the windows event viewer for warnings and errors - go to www.eventid.net to research fixes. Get this log clean before pursuing app problems this usually leads you down a trial of clues to what the problem is.

I'm available to assist further...

Tips:

BF2 on my old pc run good until I installed the SP2 who make some "crashes" and lot of programs not run anymore?

BF2 run very good on the new pc, also with Norton A-V running, sometime loose the connection while 10 to 20 seconds because we are twice on the line via a router: my son with LineageII and me on BF2, dod:s, cs:s & FA...

But anyway, before to install a new game, it's imperative that you do to DEFRAG your HD before to install any game: for utilities or normal programs it's not necessairy...

I have decided to do a complete new install of WIN XP Prof. Its running right know. Had some problems to find the RAID Drivers, but after some search i found them. Hopefully all goes well. After all updates are made, i will install BF2 again. If it doesnt work, i will buy a new system next month.

ummmm May I suggest NO raid.

Ever hear of K.I.S.S.

It stands for Keep it simple Stupid.

I am not saying you are stupid but the benefits of No raid, to me, out weigh the benefits of having raid.

Just read this post. Havent been able to play bf2 since the first few weeks of bf2 release. Kinda pisses me off cuz i enjoyed the game when I was able to play it.

With FA dead and no other games I truley enjoy playing online, I am going to attempt to get my bf2 to work agian.

Be on the look out for tech help mac :X

It's good practice to also defrag not just before but AFTER installing any large software packages to keep the applcation data on the drive as contiguous as possible.

Also you may want to put your pagefile.sys file on another separate partition to help improve defragmentation and disk performance. Also its good practice though tricky to manage in keeping WinXP on its own isolated partition. That falls on more advance configuration though.

Wow so that's what KISS stands for :)

Well to some it stands for "Paint your face and scream into the mic"

For Firefighters, rescue people, and others it is keep it simple to limit mistakes under pressure.

For Tigerhawk. It is probably passion. :)

yes, it's good too.But I never partitionned a hd and specialty in C: because since win98, it don't like when win is in C: and all the programs are installed in D: because when you format the C:, win is unable to refind the installed programs in D: and can't make the "shortcut" and the "uninstall" because you need to reinstall all the programs for that the win rebuild the win registers!

I alway say that all programs who will be installed must be installed only in C: for the win facilities but, when some can have 2 hd, make all downloaded full install files in backup on D:, this D will never be formated because only the win in C: will crash and the C: will be formated: you never lost your datas and yours install programs in D: remain saved (or safe?)...

My old pc was formated each 3 to 6 month (lucky when it reach 9 month in last 5 years) when winxp crash: my D: was always ready for to reinstall all the executables programs on C:...

I purchased 2 new hd on the new pc for to make the same stuffs: C: for to install all the programs from the D: saved install programs files.

Check this thread and PB help links in it. Upon reading them I noticed some files were missing from my bf2\pb folder that it should have if it was autoupdated by itself. Maybe my firewall prevented it. I've not had probs playing but had lag in some servers that i didn't think i should have according to ping showing and number of players. so i downloaded the manual update exe into pb folder and ran it there, firewall popup asked for permission to allow which i said yes/always and watched it download, add and update some files. now i see the files that are supposed to be in there. i guess i should test it soon. maybe, but i've had more serious issues on my mind.

*UPDATE*

here is something to try. since you cant even get the game to open. try setting the windows xp refresh rate to default 60 hz.

by default bf2 opens at 800x600 60hz. if it sees anything higher it sends and error and closes the program. so set your monitor refresh rate to 60 hz. load up bf2 and go into video settings. where you can then choose a higher refresh rate. in which time you can change it to a higher value in windows. hope that made sense.

lol guys i have done that in the past days (beside moving, living and such things):

Fresh install of windows xp = all ok

Fresh install of drivers i needed for my hardware = all ok

Fresh install of BF2 = all ok

Fresh install of Patch 1.3 = not ok

The normal patch doesnt worked, i installed the patch the manual way (found this way on a forum site, dont know where).

The game starts now, but there is a message comming up: Incorrect Serial Number.

With the help of Gator, i inserted the CD Key again (Battlefield 2_code.exe).

But it doesnt work.

Holy cow man!

Was the 1.3 patch the same download, or have you downloaded a fresh copy? The reason I ask is because maybe the 1.3 patch is corrupt? I had problems the first time I loaded the patch, and all I did was reload the patch and all was ok.

also maybe try to install patch 1.02 then 1.03.

I feel your pain, I know how frustrating a computer can be, I sure hope this helps and you get your game working. Before you smash it with a hammer. :)
