January 18, 200620 yr I just started making a map for BF2, and want to get a few opinions on how it plays before I spend countless hours of making it look nice. Attached is my map "Road to Sinjar" (below). You can play the map by starting BF2 and selecting "Create Local". The map is in the conceptional stage at the moment, so it may seem extremely plain, flat, and ugly, but the concept is there. I want to create a map that is very fast paced, and does not have all the tanks and aircraft. Its more of a meet um at high noon at the ok coral sorta map. Please give your comments, however please do not comment about how it looks. It is in a very early stage, and a lot of work still has to be done. If I can get it loaded on the TAC match server, I will place it there so perhaps a few us could test the playablity. Also, there is a "readme.txt" that will explain where the files need to go.
January 18, 200620 yr im having some problems, i've downloaded it and extracted it to my levels folder with all the other maps. I start bf2 create a local server and choose that map. The map loads but when i click start game bf2 crashes? Any ideas, could i have extracted it wrong?
January 18, 200620 yr Author I had a bad zip file that was confusing, so I am uploading a correct version now.
January 18, 200620 yr Author New file is now uploded, so give it a try. I also have a "readme.txt" that tells you exactly waht files need to go where.
January 19, 200620 yr Author I am having the same problem Sharp65 had, crashes when I click "join game". make sure you have the most recent version (about 11MB) My zip tool was screwing up, so I had a few bad downloads at first. The new download is complete with a "readme.txt" file that explains where the 3 files (one info folder and 2 zips that stay zipped) need to go. To view the game ... Login to BF2 Go To "Multiplayer" (at top) Select "Create Local" (at top) Select "Road_to_Sinjar (at bottom left side of "Create Local" menu) I will redo the map over the next few days because of some mistakes I made with the first one (learning process). The map as you see it now is just to test the "gameplay" of the concept, which is fast-paced, close-in combat. Once reviewed by you guys, I will get busy and make a nice map.
January 19, 200620 yr I guess I should add that when I first tried to start up the map I selected in the three different sizes starting with the 64 player size. After the first crash, I tried to start a 16 player size map and crashed again. I never did try to start a 32 player map, so maybe that is where the problem lies. Did you make three different sizes?
January 19, 200620 yr i'm actually having troubles too, i redownloaded it but didnt have time to try it out. I've tried all 3 map sizes and tried making the folder look like the other maps, no luck.
January 20, 200620 yr looks fun, it worked fine for me . one problem though that i noticed, you have the Chinese chopper instead of the MEC chopper at the MEC base. Chinese chopper = Z-10. MEC chopper = Mi-28.
January 20, 200620 yr Author What is the Title From? I made it up ...sounded cool. Reminded me of all the Bob Hope and Bing Crosby movies... lol
January 20, 200620 yr I made it up ...sounded cool. Reminded me of all the Bob Hope and Bing Crosby movies... lol ROFL I was going to reply it was an old Bing Crosby movie title. Thank God I didn't and show my age.
January 20, 200620 yr ROFL I was going to reply it was an old Bing Crosby movie title. Thank God I didn't and show my age. you just did .
January 21, 200620 yr CORRECTION: For anyone having problems with the map, there is an error in the readme.txt. Here are the new instructions: ------------------------------------------------------ Extract the folder (and its contents) to here... Once extracted, it should have the following files: C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\Levels\Road_to_Sinjar\Info\ C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\Levels\Road_to_Sinjar\Client.zip C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\Levels\Road_to_Sinjar\Server.zip NOTE: Do not extract the "client.zip" or the "server.zip" ------------------------------------------------------ Note the change to the location of server.zip. Hope this helps!
January 21, 200620 yr Took a gander at your map, Gator. For some reason, this map reminds me of Delta Force: Black Hawk Down. Other than that, looks fun.
January 21, 200620 yr Yo, just got it loaded. Love it! Nice direction. I think it will force us to use some new tactics. Really cool bro... stay on it! Let me know if I can help.
January 22, 200620 yr The map looks very promising, and it really looks like it could be an actual job site/town. Good job, I also come bearing gifts in the form if wierd things I,ve found while walking around. I sure these are just anomolies that are in this release of the map but I thought you should be aware of them if your not already. Screen 1 - Was there supposed to be a building here with some crap in it? Screen 2 - The flag pole isn't on the platform rather "hovering" above it. (great idea for a cap point location though) Screen 3/4 - Two wierd door panels on the ground, very random Screen 5 - Notice the altimeter on the chopper Again im just pointing out some things I've noticed, overall great map, great potential, keep it up i look foreward to engaging in battle on the latest addition to the middle eastern campagin. /monthly_06_2011/post-989-130810179966_thumb.jpg /monthly_06_2011/post-989-13081017998_thumb.jpg /monthly_06_2011/post-989-130810179996_thumb.jpg /monthly_06_2011/post-989-130810180007_thumb.jpg /monthly_06_2011/post-989-130810180024_thumb.jpg
