ward,we should have the download for f-a3.0 in our download section.like said above you'll need to update,get(if you don't already have steam),and then dl f-a,should work and be found in your 3rd party steam.you might then also check out www,unitedadmins.com and get cheating death(latest version)it's a anticheat the some servers use but prolley not to many these days so then again you might just want to skip that part.

CS is off the HL engine. so if you have the CS retail you have the HL engine. FA is more fast paced than CS and no sittin waitin around (till the end) and no GODLY huge maps. tis fun

ok i downloaded the mod from the downloads section installed it now i cant play it....it keeps taking me to a firearms mod website but i get an interneal server error....

Try another server for validing the "tickets" and come back on the TAC server it will works: I do to do it at the second connection to our server...Egidio.

The problem about visiting the FA site is that it no longer exists. I'm not sure what is causing your game to do that. Try reinstalling it is all that I could say :\

Lt. Smash there is a command you have to type in somewhere for firearms I *THINK* if you are running from CS retail. I forgot where I saw the fix or where the command needs to go, but it is out there somewhere. Search for something like "Running mods from Counter Strike retail" in google and on the steam forums.

NEVER compare CS to FA... or even ask if its like CS... even if its the first time youve heard of it.

i cant say anything good or bad about it...until of course i can actually play it which is what this thread is for...i want to know if i can play it or if i need halflife before i do

There are many nuances to FA so don't go in there all gung ho because you will be torn to shreds by the veterans LOL. Ask steveO.

Download and install Steam [here]

 

- After installinig Steam, create a new Steam account. I can't remember at which stage it asks you, but it will prompt you for your CD key (the one that came with your copy of Counter-Strike Retail version)

 

- Log into your newly crerated Steam account.

 

- Then right-click on the Steam icon (lower right tray), and select the "Games" dialog box (it might already be open).

 

- Right-click on "Half-Life" and select "install the game" (you are authorized to download and install "Half-Life" because it is the "game engine" that drives CS, DoD, and Firearms (to name a few).

 

- Once Half-Life is insalled, download and install "Firearms" [here]

 

Thats it! ...you are all done except for setting your controls, video, and sound settings.

What Gator said is interesting. Try it and let us know what happens. I'm very interested in knowing if that works. I had thought you would need a HL1 cd key and not just a CS key, to download and install HL. That's generous Of Steam if it works for you.
