December 26, 200619 yr Is there a server setting that kicks AFK players? If so, the Armory City Maps server needs adjusted badly. Was playing last night and our side was getting creamed. Which I don't mind if everybody is playing and doing their best. But after 3 minutes I noticed 8 players with 0's all across their score and our team was badly outnumbered. It got to the point that players didn't care if they won or lost so they would go afk for long periods of time. Is there a setting? If so, can we adjust it plz. Thanks. Also, I have been on servers that have "player randomize" on. This swaps players to different teams etc.. This can be useful in breaking the non stop win streaks and blow outs that occur often on the server. Interested in enabling this option as well?
December 26, 200619 yr AFK players do get kicked on our server but I am not sure what we have the amount of time set too. I know we had talked about this recently and the time was adjusted. Maybe it needs to be lowered to 5 minutes or less. Randomize teams is usefull but then again it is a pain. We squad up together as often as possible and normally have (=A=) guys split up half and half on PAC and EU. I would not enjoy a round to round change. What normally happens when one team is loaded with better players is the opposite teams players will start to leave. As soon as this happens the server will automatically even up teams by moving players. Thanks for posting red.
December 26, 200619 yr The server is set to kick after 5 minutes. I remember we tried the randomizing the teams during bf2 and it just made the teams worse, but its something we can probably try again.
December 26, 200619 yr Hey RedFrost, As the guys have said, our server is set to kick "idle" players after 5 minutes. We figured that was plenty of time to get something from the fridge, and what have ya. I noticed this as well, and when I see it, I try to manually kick them. Many players do this to get "time in kit" so they get certain awards. I know it is lame, but these guys will always be around. We tried randomizing the players before, and it ended up taking well balanced teams and making them unbalanced, so we stopped using it. Also, players need certain medals/ribbons by playing a certain amount of time on each side. If you see any "idle" players, please let us know and we will give them the boot. I think the reason they are not getting kicked at 5 minutes is because they are getting killed within the 5 minute period, and the server interprets that as an "active" player.
December 26, 200619 yr It sounds like you guys are against randomizing the teams which I believe is GOOD. Sure, teams get stacked but as Eaglez said, it will balance itself out given time. VSF did randomizing on our BF2 server in an attempt to address having one team dominate the other and I hated it with a passion. I play the game primarily to squad with other team-oriented players that I know to have fun. Randomizing the teams makes that nearly impossible. I think the better answer, if the teams are too imbalanced too long, is to ask on Vent that some folks move to the other side.

December 26, 200619 yr Author 5 minutes IMO is way too long. Thats long enough for a team with 30% AFK's to get get all their flags capped or most of them captured by a team with little to no AFK's. By the time they come back, its too late and the players who aren't AFK now suffer. The first 3 minutes of a map makes all the difference. FAV's rush to the rear to cap rear flags, vehicles push etc.. 5 min IMO is way too long.
