I definately vote for turning it back off. It took a lot of fun out of playing the recon kit for me.

I used to love FF when I played 1942 but have grown very tired of it with each new iteration of BF. Perhaps it's because of the attached punishment system that it's become so irritating to me. I mean when you happen to graze a friendly vehicle or infantry, you get a negative score. Bah, I say!

 

I've lost count of how many times I've been yelled at in a game because I used claymores to defend a flag that I knew was about to be assaulted by the enemy. Friendly players would not pay attention to the obvious skull and crossbones warning symbol, blow themselves to bits, punish and then yell at me. And what do I get for actively defending our flag? A negative teamwork score and lower overall/career score.

 

The FF system either needs to be not enabled by the server management or the game developers need to redesign it into a better more logical and less easily exploitable system.

I have in the past been capping a flag in the prone position and people come to help me and accidentally lit them up when i thought i was alone and being sneaky. Sorry jeez, I also have been standing in the middle of the road and been clipped, OK thats my fault for not listening to my mommy and standing in the way.

I hear ya there! I got punished when a guy tried to run in front of my tank as I was driving down the road. He got squished and I got punished. There was no way I could have stopped in time. His death by tank tread should not have been my loss of points.

 

I must admit though, he did make a nice squishy sound once his armor cracked open... :thumbsup:

Wow, I guess I should read the rules when I log into the server. That explains why I kept dying from my own team damage while on our Titan last night. I should go back to first grade and learn to read..Anyways, I can understand FF being on in some cases but I'm not a personal fav for having it on either.

It seems highly unlikely that by 2142, just 135 short years from now, we'd have developed the technology to integrate IFF into motion sensing mines. I mean look at how little we've progressed in the last 200 years, why would anyone expect such leaps and bounds in even less time!

1. RDX and Nades SHOULD do damage to friendlies.

2. Friendlies should not set off APMs.

3. Friendlies should not set off EMP and Motion Mines.

 

I played somewhere a week or so ago that had FF on in such a manner that it only did 70% damage to friendlies which must have been picked because APMS didn't kill friendlies, but it did wound them. Is this something in bf2cc that can be modified?

Well, 200 years ago, we didn't have computers, airplanes, internal combustion engines and a lot of other stuff I can't remember. 200 years from now, we might have IFF systems small enough to fit in your wristwatch so who knows what miracles technology will bring in the future. For the record, I am an advocate of friendly fire on.FYI

It's relevant to me and my career score. I could care less about getting kicked because I'll play on another server until the PB timer runs out. Whenever I TK, it isn't at all intentional. Regardless, my career score takes the brunt of it and unrightfully so IMHO.

You're not serious are you? You DO NOT LOSE POINTS for a punish, okay? I almost have this macro'ed:

 

"The only reason sometimes it seems like you lose more points for a TK than other times is because team damage + team kills can stack up together."

I voted to keep it off and after playing last night, I still want it off. I agree 100% with you. It makes it harder to admin, and a lot of people are just plain upset with it on. Our Titan server did not have a lot of people on once they found out ff was on. APM's and motion mines are part of the game. Do I think some people spam with them??? Yes. But its part of the game. I didn't dare play City maps last night. I also find myself not playing Recon either. With ff on it is going to be much harder to get your badges and such also. Lets face it some of us are not as good as others, and we need all the points we can get, for us to get unlocks etc. It just makes it harder for the less experienced to compete with the more experienced players. IMHO

here here... then we remove the smacktards who run around not lookin at the screen, and we move onto the smacktards who purpousfully detonate the APMs to grief other players,... even just because they are there... and those players - as others have said- never realise that they have just pootled over someone elses well placed mine, and always punish (almost anyway).

It just boggles my mind that players are so score focused that they spend time and energy worrying about a -4 or -6 score here and there. Have fun...play the game. :thumbsup:

Only time that people whining about being punished. Is when the server kicks for 3 punishes or something of the sort. I know it sure as hell irritates me being punished by someone else's stupidity. I dont care If i get tk'd I never punish unless its blatant.

you don't lose extra points for punish? HMMMM OK then i don't care if people punish I am a little more point oriented right now because i seem to not get very many points in some games. sorry, i don't mean to irritate anyone.

I don't either especially =A= members I think that is a bit of professional courtesy.

Apparently people have misunderstood what I posted. I know that punishing doesn't take points off. ;) Just the act of hitting a friendly anything when FF is on.
