Posted January 8, 200718 yr I'm a little down in the dumps right now. My cat has been at the vet for a week now. I brought him in on 12/31/06. He has crystals and cant pee. I brought him home Friday only to bring him back Sat. morning. The vet called me this morning to tell me he was eating a little bit. Tonight he called me to tell me he has taken a turn for the worse. He thinks he has given up. He still has the catheter in, and he is on fluids, but he isnt eating and is just laying there. He called cuz he didn't want me to be surprised if he didn't make it. I'm going to visit him in the morning. I'm hoping he perks up and doesn't think I left him. He is actually one of the best cats I have. I hope I dont lose him.
January 8, 200718 yr thoughts are with you wolfey.. sometimes this situation with a pet is just as heartbreaking as it is with a relative... i hope your kittycat pulls through for you..
January 8, 200718 yr Best of prayers. I hate it when one of my pets gets sick too.. Hope your cat gets better..
January 8, 200718 yr To be a bit encouraging.... I've been thru that with a couple cats, one of them several times. Only once have I seen one not make it. I've been paranoid about the diet my cats have ever since. At any rate, I wish you the best of luck, I hope things turn out better than you hope.
January 8, 200718 yr my thoughts are with you wolfey, hope he makes it, hopefully seeing you in the morning might boost his strenght to keep on fighting and pull trough this.
January 8, 200718 yr Terrible news. I hope for the best. Are they kidney stones or uric acid crystals? I would think they could scope the bladder and bust them up or flush them via a surgury? Is the vet really trying?
January 8, 200718 yr soory to hear wolfey, pets are members of the family and it can be upsetting. Hope he makes it.

Is the vet really trying? Acid crystals. He has removed them once already., but he wont eat, and the powder is in the food to break it down. He has a sore from chewing himself also. He's been on a special diet but for some reason after 2 1/2 yrs. it failed.
January 8, 200718 yr Author Thanks for all the encouraging words guys. I'm so depressed I cant play tonight. Guess I'll just go to bed. Thanks again.
January 8, 200718 yr aww thats horrible wolfey. sorry you and your cat are going through this. hope he pulls through.

January 8, 200718 yr OMG. I thought I was done tearing. This was for you and your cat. I know how it feels. Lost a cat that way once. Was told lose the can food, go to high quality dry, not the cheap dry, lots of daily fresh water. Cherish and try to think mostly of the good times, being thankful, not just sorry, to help reduce the pain a bit. Sincerely, Cam.
January 8, 200718 yr Sorry to hear that. I have a cat myself and i know exatly how you feel. I hope all will be going well.
January 8, 200718 yr Wolfey, As a long-time cat and dog owner I know what you are going through. I really hope he makes it. Know that I am here for you if you need to chat about it! I have been through it all with animals, and I know how close they can be to someone. Take care, keep us informed... Zen
January 8, 200718 yr Author Update on my cat. I went to see him this morning. He is very pissed off at me. He still wont eat. The vet said that all the crystals are gone, but because of the sore he wants to leave the catheter in until Wed. He did seem toenjoy me scratching his ears. He is being very stubborn. The vet said maybe Ishould take him home Thurs. to see if he will eat at home for me. I'm hoping for Thurs. to come real quick now. I think I'll visit him until Thurs. so he doesn't think I left him there. I'm trying to think positive, but him not eating has me worried.
January 8, 200718 yr Sorry Wolfey, hope your cat pulls through. Tell your vet to do more or we will come down there and get the vet with a blowtorch and a pair of pliers.
January 8, 200718 yr It's good the problem has been fixed. Being cat's are Carnivores, a few days without eating won't hurt it much as long as he keeps getting fluids.

January 9, 200718 yr It's good to hear that your kitty is getting better as long as he is getting fluids he'll be ok, a cat can go without food much longer than humans could. He could lose as much as 40 percent of his body weight and still survive.
