  1. I hate to think that they are using BF2 GFX technology. Yes it looks good considering how much crap is going on, but even now they look a bit dated compared to other newer games (Source Games, MMORPG's like DnD:SR, Any other FPS, any game on Next-Gen consoles). Basically, BF2142 will be launching in late 2006 using early 2004/late 2003 technology. Look at where GPU's have gone since that time. We went from High end systems using 256MB cards to High End systems using 1GB-2GB GFXX cards, processors have gone from 2GHz 32bit 400FSB to dual core 4GHz 64bit 1600+ FSB, RAM has gone from PC 2100/2700 at 266 mhz to DDR2 PC4000 600-800MHz. Sadly enough, almost all the games we play are more than playable on the "Early" standards due to the time it takes to develop a game vs. the rate at which technology gets better. Basically, in just 2 years, the power of PC's has nearly quadrupled in some areas, and has gone up 10 fold in others. If PC games are going to keep up with Next-Gen consoles, companies like EA, Vivendi, and SOE are going to have to pump out some serious games. Seeing as EA is the only one pumping out games at a consumable rate (Vivendi seems to be sitting pretty firm on FEAR and WoW, SOE shows no signs of doing anything besides maintaining their current set of MMO games, even though they are completely revamping SWG to be more like *gasp* WoW... The game every SWG player tried to get away from. Irony sucks.), it means we have to hope they don't single handedly destroy our beloved computer market. Until Blizzard puts out StarCraft 2 (Who knows when, we all know they will, just a matter of time), Diablo 3, or seriously fixes some major problems in WoW, nothing worth a damn will come from them or Vivendi (Blizzard is a subsidiary of Vivendi Universal, as was Valve until they got smart). SOE sure isn't going to put anything out except for expansions to EQ2, while they try and revamp SWG to be more like the game the MMO community is slowly starting to hate more and more (WoW for all of you lucky enough to have not gotten sucked in). EQ2 is almost an exact copy of WoW now, it is almost disgusting, SWG is becoming WoW with player owned property and starships (Which adds depth, but it is ultimately the same crap). I strongly suggest saving your money you were going to invest into a new badass gaming rig and saving it for a shiney new PS3 and/or Xbox 360 and an HDTV. I unfortunately see the computer gaming market being only applicable to the super rich and small "garage developers". At least for a year. After that PC's will overcome consoles again. But with every new generation of consoles, PC's lose more and more people, as the cost of running a damn good PC and maintaining it's awesomeness is infintely more than a Console (Which is a one time fee, no constant upgrading to play that new game, also standardized platforms make game development easy and make the games run WAY better). That was my weekly rant. I will shut my trap now.
  2. I've tk'd way more than 3 and havent gotten kicked. The server fears my leetsauceness.
  3. No, the pokemon we get in the US sucks. Well, the current one in Japan sucks too, but the original pokemon was actually pretty mature, and was not devoid of violence and adult humor/situations at all. If memory serves me correct (I havent read the original pokemon manga in like, 6 years), there was actually a war going on, and that is what incited the use of Pokemon as combatants. Unfortunately, the prospect of using pets to fight wars doesn't sit well with a lot of the people in the US, therefore, in order to market the title in the US, they had to "Kiddie it down". All the animations are the kiddied down versions, and so are all the games. But if you watch the episodes closely (and if you played any of the games, I know I did), you will see A LOT of references to the past war. Soldiers from the war, Raichu (Pikachu's evolved form) was born from the war, and so were a lot of "un-natural" evolutions. And yes, I did play the games way too much. But what can I say? It beat paying attention in english class  .
  4. Actually, Pokemon games held 3 of the top 10 most sold games in the US alone last year. Those same 3 were top 10 for Japan as well. The pokemon fad hasn't died, just taken a silent step away from the spot light. (Numbers game from GameInformer)
  5. what server you on statey?
  6. I have always used Nvidia and always will! Card reliability really relies on your PC's hardware configuration. Nvidia cards work best with Nforce chipsets (Go figure ), and AMD CPU's tend to configure more smoothly with Nvidia cards. ATI cards aren't bad, and should be fine. And you should not be seeing those patches with an X800. Go ahead and clean out your computer (if you havent already), and be sure to hit the fans and the heatsink on your card. If you have it overclocked, downclock it to normal and see if there is any difference.

Unlock the L96 (New Sniper rifle), I suffered through a BF2:SF game last night just to get my two free unlocks to unlock that bad boy! It rocks!
  8. Didn't notice that =D. Nice find!
  9. So, I have been playing 1.2 for about 10 hours play time now. I have noticed a few things that really irritate me: 1. Heli's seem like they are made of paper-mache. I literally took one out by accident with an FAV about 15 minutes ago. 2. SAMs/IGLAs are godlike now. Their range is disgusting and I have watched them literally pull a 180 degree turn to strike their target. Not to mention they seem to totally ignore flares and reload way faster. 3. MG's, namely the MG36 and PKM are rail guns now. Not to mention the guys can still drop prone and hammer you with a perfectly accurate and over-powered MG, which is more like an automatic rail gun. 4. It may be just me, but I noticed a few things about small arms: a. It feels like they aren't doing as much damage. b. Some of them (Namely the L85A1), have had their recoil increased and accuracy dramatically decreased, making full auto fire with a 5.56NATO weapon feel like I'm shooting a .50cal assault rifle. 5. Grenade Launchers (AKA **** Toobs) are still the same, the round just bounces 2 inches and then blows up, ultimately putting the shooter further from harm, and the target even more screwed. 6. Hand Grenades can be thrown WAY to far. I have seen a grenade thrown from the MG at the USMC base at karkand down to the enclosed area next to the ladder near the flag. It is a joke. 7. C4. Don't get me wrong, I am not a C4 tosser, but what they did to C4 totally nerfed the spec ops class. I now have to get withing 3 feet of a tank or APC to plant C4. Ironically, I have gotten more kills after 1.2 with C4, so I really shouldn't be complaining. 8. Tanks have had their armor buffed. Though I don't really see it as a problem, but IMO taking 3 TOWs to take out an M1A2 is pretty lame. 9. All helicopter weapons have been severely nerfed. The UH-60 guns are half as effective (which weren't over-powered to begin with). The Cobra rockets are not only lessened in number, but are slightly weaker. 10. Apparently APC's have had their armor stripped. 11. Movement is much more cumbersome. I can't dodge around fire as much (and no, I wasn't a dolphin diver) as I could by sprinting. Now that the negatives are through with, let's have a look at the plusses: 1. Fighters/Bombers are no longer completely unstoppable. 2. No more bunny hoppers (though I think I have found a way around this, more updates later). 3. No more dolphin divers. 4. Sniper rifles can actually kill someone in 1 shot now. 5. New weapons to mess around with! I have only gotten my hands on an L96, but I am pleased with it, and I can't wait to try out the new AR's (FAMAS, L85 assault version). Anyways, that is my review, vote and leave feedback!
  10. I guess I got screwed on this, my DL started at 700, and slowly went down to about 150kbps...
  11. Woot!

First off, I use just a keyboard to fly: AWSD, throttle and roll, and U,D,L,R arrows for pitch and yaw. Space bar is primary fire (Since I only fly heli's, that's all I use). Secondly, there are a few kinds of pilots: 1. The safe, experienced (Gator, Impact). The kind that is very experienced, knows the maps well, where to go, and what to do in a handful of situations. These pilots are typically very skilled at solo flying attack choppers and flying jets and bombing. They are exceptional at air-to-air combat. These are the guys you see that get 50 kills a game and a smal amount of deaths. These types are usually fairly poor at gunning as they are usually the ones flying, and are often only decent at getting a gunner into position. What they lack in support flying, they more than make up for in personal skill with primary rockets/misiles. 2. The safe newbie (Any number of people). Name says it all. Not really good at flying, shooting, or gunning, but they take it slow and easy. These often turn into safe experienced pilots. Usually horrible at getting a gunner a good shot. 3. The experienced maniac (myself). This kind of pilot can control their craft extremely well, and are very good at getting their gunners good shots, through shaky, but well controlled, piloting. These pilots often have no problems putting them and their crew right in front of a STINGER site to take out a tank. These pilots are usually only decent, at best, at firing their primary missiles and hitting their targets. This type of pilot is also frequently the one crashing into towers, usually because of trying to do something nearly impossible (Barrel rolls through the Dam on Kubrah, flying upside down to increase your rate of decent, making crazy maneuvers that usually end up with your face planted into the side of a cliff, etc.). These are usually pretty good to exceptional gunners, due to the fact that they can get more kills and points gunning for a safe experienced pilot. This combination is absolutely devastating (only greater combo is a full-time gunner with a Experienced maniac flying), because two very skilled pilots, one who can shoot his misiles very well, and one that can handle a gunner seat well enough to make up for a safe pilots usually lesser ability to position a gunner. This kind of pilot also tends to give more reign to the gunner, as they are aware that their flying and aiming skills grant a significantly less chance of landing a lethal blow then getting a TV guided misile from their gunner in there. These pilots will either go 100-0, or 0-100. These pilots are often mistaken for noobs. These pilots are generally horrible at air to air combat. 4. **** Maniac. All the above, minus the skill. 5. Straight up ****. The guy who lifts off the chopper/plane and crashes it before even getting off the ground. This is the guy everyone laughs at the first few times, then gets mad because he keeps doing it. Most people start at this point. If you are here, join an empty server or play single player and learn to fly. Now, be aware that the above are just general observations, and there are combination pilots out there, and those are very vague descriptions. Most of those descriptions are per heli's as well, as I absolutely hate airplanes in this game (I suck with them and there isn't enough space for them to be truly effective). Pros and Cons: Keyboard only: Shaky and hard to make minor adjustments, but easy to get a craft steadily lined up. Usually used by the maniac pilots. Keyboard and mouse: Very precise control, too precise in fact. I find it very difficult to control any air craft with a mouse. May be good for you, but I stay away from it. Joystick: Precise, easy to learn, and probably the most fun for most people. No real cons here other than your hands are away from the keyboard and mouse, and it is but one more thing to take up space on your desk. In the end, it is all personal preference. Try them all, see what you like. I even know a guy who flies using a game-pad. You may even find you don't even want to fly. As a medic, I can get 100 points, with some effort, on a map with helicopters (My record is 172, dragon valley), and never even step in a chopper. However, I can also hop in a chopper and get about 30-80 points, and a fraction of the deaths. Most of those points are driver assist points/passive kit points. Remember, it is all up to you! And choppers will now be toast really fast with the new patch! (FINALLY!!!!) I hope this helped.
  13. I always found that, when confronted with a question involving a woman's appearance, you should be as absolutely neutral about it as possible. A few things to keep in mind: 1. You know you don't care about how she looks. Girls can't figure that out. Yes, it is good to look nice, but I can 100% guarantee you that more often than not, the guy honestly really doesn't give a damn. 2. No matter what you say, you are going to get a negative response, example: a. Female: "How do I look in this?" a. Male: "Absolutely stunning!" a. Female: "You are just saying that to make me feel better!" a. Male: While refraining from leaping at her with your knife you keep handy in your boot, you sincerely say "No, I really do think you look great." a. Female: Shying away, obviously not content with the situation, "Well, thanks for the compliment." Example B: b. Female: "Does this dress make me look fat?" b. Male: "Yes." b. Female: "You shallow pig! You are sleeping on the couch tonight!" b. Male: "Does that mean you will shut up so I can watch the football game dear?" b. Female: Storms out of room screaming profanities and wondering aloud why she got with you in the first place. It's a lose-lose situation either way. It is just a matter of how extreme the lose is. Unless you are fortunate to be around a girl not so unstable about her appearance, you will get that question, and similar responses every time. Best advice: Respond to that question with a question (In other words, ignore everything else I have typed up to this point), such as "How do you think it looks?", or "Where did you get it from?", or (my personal favorite) play the ignorant bystander and say "Whuh?". Of course if you are trying to have a relationship with said female, then, answer her question with a question related to her question, but will change the topic, so she completely forgets about her appearance. My 17 cents.

Hey all, just letting you know I am now going by Falc0n_Zero in BF2. Shoot ya'll later.
  16. Hunters are awesome. Hunter and Shaman are the only two classes I liked. I got both to 60, and they were awesome. Rest are no fun IMO. Anyways, I am off to work on my sig, enjoy statey. Don't get sucked in! Good miner/blacksmith class is warrior or paladin. That way you can make yourself armor as you level up. But it really doesn't matter. I have seen priests who are 300 engi/300 bs, so it is all up to you!
  17. Check your PM statey. BTW, stay away from Eve. One word. LAME. All caps too.

Get musicmatch. Download it for $.99. I would DL it for you, and host it, but I personally think the song sucks, and I don't really want to pay for a song I am not going to listen to .
  19. Wait, I lied. There was a free trial in my friend's game box. Let me know if you want the free trial or want to try that account.
  20. The game is great, until you hit level 60. Then it becomes super repeditive grinding: Grinding for mount money, grinding instances for gear, grinding pvp, grinding raid instances (MC, BWL, AQ, ZG). And that really ain't too bad until you get all your BWL gear, which I did on my hunter, then the game is SUPER boring. I could 1 shot kill any cloth wearer, drop rogues and warriors with no problem, and really only had trouble with druids and other hunters, oh yeah, and pallies. But I still always won, and my huner's PVP team was the best on the server, and it got insanely boring. But, I do recomend giving it a try. I got the game on release day, so I don't have a free trial. However, I do have an active account you can use. It is my friend's level 60 druid, he stoped playing and gave me the account. It will be free and you can play any class as long as the subscription period is. Let me know.
  21. yeah, well, I have veteran medic and expert spec ops, so ha!
  22. Last I checked, guild wars was free anyways... Why are there free 14 day trials? Just not to buy the game or what? Hell, I'll give you my game so it will stop taking up space on top of my gun case.
  23. If it's a girl: Hilary Britany Amanda If it's a boy: Jonathan Robert Richard Just make sure the middle name is Kalashnikov! My humble input =D
