  2. This is actually all GREAT advice; especially about how riding is how she relaxes and gaming is how I relax. She doesn't mind if I play alone, I'm just not alone that much these days. Interestingly, she's not a gaming girl at all but she's OBSESSED with my Wii. She's incredible at Wii Tennis and would call me all day asking if she could go over and play. It really was a bunch of fun.
  3. The gf is great. I love her a bunch. But damn does she not understand what video games are about. She thinks they are just for kids and low-class. I'm 23 and I want to play my damn games! Anyways, we spend a lot of time together and I really don't have any good excuses for getting time alone so I can play BF2142. She can't stand it when I play with her around (even when she's busy doing other stuff) and bothers me too much while I'm playing anyways. So how do I get her to understand that video games are fun, increase creativity, provide an important outlet, and help me stay happy and in a good mood to better provide for her? She's a competitive horseback rider so I tried comparing it to her riding for a few hours a day several days a week (which when I'm on vacation I'm forced to watch which is EXCRUCIATING). She wasn't having any of it though. "Riding is physical, you don't just sit on your ass.......riding is a way of life, gaming is for children, etc.." Anyways, she's 20 and in college. Any advice would be great!
  4. I completely disagree with the sniping thing. I'll miss a lot of long range single shots with the voss that I make with the Baur. In any case, I'm using the voss a lot more now on smaller conquest maps and when I'm assaulting a titan. Other than that, the Baur or the Krylov is better suited.
  5. EA? Fix something? Have you been living under a rock?
  6. I do have to say; I used the voss with incredible results on Cerbere landing last night. I'm going to have to use it more I think.
  7. Oh whatever! Anyways, I actually prefer the krylov. I unlocked the Baur first and loved it for medium-long range encounters. However, in up close battles, I would get owned. The Voss is exceedingly good at short range but useless at long and only moderate at medium. Meanwhile, I'm an accurate enough shooter that for me the Krylov is deadly in short range and pretty good at long range (can land shot after shot on single shot mode). Seems to be the best compromise for me.
  8. I'm curious about what your favorite assault gun is. Post up which one you prefer the most AND WHY.
  9. LOL That was great. Saw you crouched down and just landed right on top of you. I actually wanted to knife you, but whatever
  10. I was playing on the Armory Titan server. I had a squad of 6 people that actually listened to the orders I was giving. We acted like a team and even though we didn't have a single silo left at the end, we won! The fight for the silos was fun but pretty boring. It wasn't until both shields were down that it got interesting. Taking their consoles was easy. They never mounted a good defense on them. We kept bumrushing their core until there was only one guy with an HMG in there. I managed to use active camo to sneak by on the other side of him and blow the core right out from under them! What an exciting game. What made it better was the 50% away bonus I got! http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y169/gsibble/BF2142/screen001.jpg Let me know if these kinds of threads are kosher. I just had such a great time and wanted to talk about it!
  11. I hate to say it; but not exactly. My understanding is that FF can be turned on and off for individual types of weapons. For example, FF can be on for guns but off for APMs and such. Correct me if I'm wrong. I usually play on FF on servers but my APMs still recognize my team's players. If any of the FF is on (say for guns but not for APMs), than FF is listed as ON.
  12. They still don't usually mention specifically that mines have FF on. How would you tell unless their notes stated it (which I've never seen)?
  13. Maybe, if I'm accepted as a member!
  14. I was playing Titan mode today and I noticed something interesting..... Our shield was down and so was the opponents. However, our hull was at maybe 30% while theirs was 90%. The enemy had control of 4/5 silos. The commander gets on the line and starts ordering squads and everyone to cap the silos. "We won't win this without the silos." So, squads go out and start capping silos. Since most of their team was assaulting our titan, it was easy. However, as soon as we would cap the silos, they'd come over and cap them back. So what happened was attrition. As soon as a silo is capped, it launches a missile. Since the opponent's team was capping silos soon after we did, it was essentially a zero gain situation. A missile would hit their hull and another would hit ours very soon after. If they capped the silo back quick enough, it might actually launch the missile at our titan faster than if we hadn't capped it at all. Since their hull was higher than ours, we quickly lost. An eye for an eye doesn't work when you start with one and they start with two. So here's my theory: if you are in a situation where your titan is weaker than the opponents and capping silos will only get them recapped by the opponent, you MUST directly attack their titan in order to be successful. Otherwise, you will begin a war of attrition which you will lose. Your thoughts?
  15. No.....the mines have stopped blowing up teammates. I think it was changed back without people noticing....
  16. Cool. How do we actually view these?
  17. I managed to get my silver! APM mines on Belgrade. Great game too. My final kill was actually a tank with 2 people in it Damn did that feel good! Thanks for the advice guys!
  18. So grenades and/or rockets don't count?
  19. I got my bronze one the other night but now I'm having an impossible time getting my silver one! I have enough total kills already but getting 15 kills with explosives is turning out to be DAMN hard. Ideas? Also: What counts as explosives? Thanks!
  20. Are you serious? I die twice as much in Conquest. I also get a lot more points in titan. Not as fun though. I generally do titan defense which gets your MASSIVE points but can get boring.
  21. ALSO: One of the admins (forget who) was explaining that they changed this to prevent "offensive mining" where a recon will run around a corner with some enemies behind it, drop a claymore, and use it like a mine. With FF on the way it is, it doesn't prevent that at all! That kind of offensive use of it actually becomes MORE likely since it is the best way to avoid getting TKs with mines. Just another thought. The change doesn't prevent what it was supposed to.
  22. I was there when the server crashed and stayed on until the next time it came around. No one was using APM mines. And when they did, they were teamkilling. You never had to worry about them at all in fact.
  23. Oh, I know  Just wanted to share my 2 cents. I thought I could put what a lot of people were feeling cogently.
  24. We were discussing the friendly fire change and since I can't post in the clan only forum, I figured I'd post my thoughts here. Personally, I hate it. Within 5 minutes, I had teamkilled several of my mates and other members of my squad. I only use mines in a defense measure (as they are meant to be) by placing them in choke points where an enemy may pass by. However, here's the kicker: If you place a mine in a good defensive location (that is, nearby to an objective such as a beacon or a flag that you already have control of), it will be in a location closer to your men than to the enemy. I place mines where if I and my fellow soldiers die, the enemy will pass by it. That stops them, allowing me to respawn, and continue defense. However, my teammates are MUCH more likely to pass by these locations because we already control them. For example, the most appropriate use of a mine is flag defense. Say you place a mine near a choke point next to a flag that your team has control of. You want to protect that choke point from enemy's passing through it. However, in order to go on offense, your team must pass through that point as well. With the current FF situation, YOU CANNOT USE THE MINE TO PROTECT THAT POINT. In essence, the APM mine has been turned into an offensive weapon since you can only place it where you expect the enemy to be. It is the opposite effect of what was intended. Now, I know what you are trying to prevent (IE. recon guys throwing down claymores like grenades) but honestly, it doesn't happen often enough for me to ever have had any problems with it. I personally never do it and in the off chance that it happens, I just deal with it and move on. As it stands right now, I have completely stopped using APM mines. More than 50% of the time they were placed, I killed a team member instead of an opponent. Since team kills are -2 points and look bad, I had to completely stop their use. A member of =A= mentioned, "I have noticed I'm not dying very much from APM mines now." It is precisely because everyone is too afraid to use them. APM mines are annoying as hell but they serve a very useful and fun purpose. With FF the way it is, they cann't serve that purpose. -GA PS: I never use motion mines but I can imagine that they are extremely frustrating now. You can't place them on a road unless you expect your vehicles to NEVER cross that road!
