I´ve been getting many questions on twitter regarding the Alpha Trial and also the upcoming beta which was announced at E3 to be in September. It´s amazing that so many people want to share their experience and are so keen on playing Battlefield 3. Here are som questions and answers you might find useful :peace: : How can I get into the Alpha Trial? It is a highly tech focused test period where the main purpose is to do a number of server related tests in preparation for game launch requiring a set amount of players online to ensure the final experience is as much fun and easy as possible. Is this the Beta promised to buyers of Medal of Honor: Limited Edition? No, this is an Alpha Trial, meaning this software is still not at the "Beta" development milestone. The Open Beta will start in September. The exact date for when Medal of Honor: Limited Edition players can join the Beta will be announced at a later date. Can I join the Battlefield 3 Closed Alpha Trial? The Alpha is a closed test and by invitation only. If you'd like to have a chance to be called upon make sure to register for our newsletter and ensure your Veteran status is up to date. BC2 UK Forum: Highlights of the Week, July 22
As another amazing week comes to a close for Battlefield, we cannot thank you enough for being an outstanding community. Take a look at some fan feedback and great press right here in this edition of Battlefield Highlights of the Week! Last week's Topic Tuesday was a hit, so we're going to make this a weekly feature on Facebook. This week we asked how you played Battlefield online; lone wolf-style, group of friends, clans, etc. Here's what Joe Gatdula had to say, "I read forums and news pretty frequently, but I'm not exactly the most hardcore player. When I do play online, it's almost always with friends so we have a great, tactical experience." Personally, I'm the same way. Friends, hardcore or not, always make playing online a memorable experience every time. Daniel Antonio Sorto-Lizama says "There needs to be chat between squads. Team work is the best way to play BF and communication is key. I just hope so dearly that hopefully they can rework the console versions to have 64 players a match. Pretty Please! Oh and P.S. A way to quit out of game between matches would be delightful. In BC2 it's kind of a hassle to wait for the map to load to quit." I definitely agree that communication is key. As a gamer, I felt the same way about waiting for the map to load in order to exit a match! Although, it did make me want to play more matches! I know DICE is listening and will take it into consideration, if that haven't done so already. Battleblog #3 featured Producer Frederik Loving talking about Battlefield 3's unique, no-cost social network called Battlelog. Blog reader Skinny_Man13 comments that "This is a very cool feature. I have been amazed with everything I have seen so far. A bit skeptical at times, because I don't want BC3. But with every tid bit of info you guys release, it seems its going to be a true Battlefield game. This is going to be an awesome game." Thanks for your feedback! We're glad to hear that you're loving everything that we're showing to you. It will definitely be an awesome game and a better experience for all. Playstation's Sid Shuman and Jeff Rubenstein posted their hands-on of Battlefield 3 on Playstation 3. Shuman states, "...I was impressed to see that, unlike most shooters, Battlefield 3 emphasizes laying down suppressive fire — a key tactic in controlling and winning a real-life firefight. You’ll actually gain XP when you pin enemies behind cover. Better yet, you’ll also blur the vision of any enemies you suppress, putting them at a disadvantage. This is a perfect match for the Support class, with its high-capacity ammo clips." Kotaku's very own Brian Crecente highlights, "I've seen Battlefield 3 on PS3 firsthand. It's spectacular." He also added, "...the PS3 version won't disappoint fans who found the PC version of the game thrilling. While I wasn't able to play through the level, O'Leary pointed out some minor, obvious differences, between the controls of the PC and PS3 version. The game will use the directional pad, for instance, to allow you to turn on a weapon-mounted flashlight. It also changes your weapon's firing mode and brings up your character's special kit in multiplayer." Last week, we featured fan videos that focused on explosions – this week, we’re focusing on sniper skills from Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Take a look at the great videos below. Thanks for tuning in and we’ll be back next week with even more Battlefield goodies for you to enjoy! If you have any videos or images, or any other great Battlefield-related items you'd like highlighted, hit us up on Facebook or Twitter! BC2 UK Forum: Battleblog #3: With An Army By Your Side
Welcome to the third installment of the Battleblog, a blog series taking you all the way to the launch of Battlefield 3 on October 25th! In this blog series, you’ll learn more about every aspect of our biggest shooter ever. This time out is a look at Battlelog with Producer Fredrik Loving. Never go into battle alone again thanks to the powerful new community features of Battlelog, Battlefield 3’s unique no-cost social network. “We want to make Battlefield 3 a more social gaming experience and it all starts with Battlelog,” says Fredrik Loving, Battlelog Producer at DICE. “We are changing how you communicate, play, compete and share content with their friends, extending the in-game experience to be accessible from your home computer, on your handheld devices while commuting, or wherever you may be." And that’s what DICE set out to do. With Battlelog, players will be able to build a network of friends, communicate with other gamers, and compare their Battlefield stats with friends and foes alike. It brings all of the social aspects of Battlefield into a single location, allowing you to coordinate any action at the push of a button and get into the game as easily as possible. What’s the cost for Battlelog? Nothing. It’s absolutely free. http://blogs.battlefield.ea.com/resized-image.ashx/__size/550x599/__key/CommunityServer.Blogs.Components.WeblogFiles/battlefield_5F00_bad_5F00_company/2.jpg Included in Battlelog is the Battlefeed, your entry point to this new program. The Battlefeed is your main window into Battlelog, showing current events around your network in real-time, giving you a live snapshot of what those in your network are doing in the world of Battlefield. “The feed will encourage people to play even more,” explains Loving. “They will see their friends ranking up, receiving awards they don’t have yet, or getting the new cool guns they have been missing. It will increase the competitive edge. Everything you do on the battlefield is shared amongst your friends.” You’ll be able to see when a friend unlocks a particularly difficult achievement and offer them kudos. Another pal just joined a multiplayer Rush match in Operation Métro and is looking for some help – now you know, so you can quickly jump in and give them a hand. If someone just nabbed your dog tag in multiplayer, they can shoot you a quick note to say thanks (or, more likely, use those newly anointed bragging rights). It’s all here in the real-time feed for you to share, comment and like. http://blogs.battlefield.ea.com/resized-image.ashx/__size/550x341/__key/CommunityServer.Blogs.Components.WeblogFiles/battlefield_5F00_bad_5F00_company/1.jpg With a game as highly-competitive as Battlefield, it only makes sense to have a nicely detailed stat-tracking system. With that in mind, we’ve incorporated a fully-featured soldier progression section, bringing full stats tracking for every shot fired and every action performed in your Battlefield career. “Battlefield players love their statistics,” says Loving. “Now we will give them everything that they want while adding a social layer on top of that.” Do you want to know what your next unlock is and what you need to do to unlock it? Are you curious about how your skills compare to your friends? Do you simply want to track your multiplayer progress? It’s all here, all the time. Every match you’ve played is accounted for, with all of your stats represented in full detail, and so much more! Be sure to stay tuned – we’ll be unveiling the full suite of features found in Battlelog at a later date. Stay tuned for BF3 Battleblog #4 soon. BC2 UK Forum: Highlights of the Week, July 15
Another great week for Battlefield, filled with some great stuff thanks to you, our amazing fans. We’ve seen some great press, fan interaction, and some amazing user-submitted videos all for you and all right here in the Battlefield Highlights of the Week. We kicked the week off with our new Topic Tuesday feature, where we ask you to tell us what you think about subjects in the world of shooters. We had a lot of great questions and comments appear as a response and we couldn’t be happier. Take Yure Dutra’s comment, for example. “Supressive fire was one the most interesting ideas ever but I still be Assault or maybe Medic. I like to be fast, be essential, have agility and in the same time carry firepower. I wish the Recon could be like the one in BF2142, with SMG's and some gadgets but that won't fit BF3 very much.” There are also some great anecdotes and ideas appearing as a response, including a story from Rory James Livingston. “Me and my brother were reminiscing about when we used to play BF2 and when we played BF:BC2,” Livingston explains. “Putting 2+BC2 together, excusing the pun, we took the tracer from BC2 and the jets from BF2 and thought "wouldn't it be amazing if we could laze targets for our allies in the sky to make their job easier", as we hear all the time in the movies how the pilots are "blind" without their target lazed so we thought this would be an AMAZING addition to BF3, and we were actually sure it might be already in the game. Not really a question, but just an awesome thought.” We agree, Rory. Definitely an awesome thought! That’s not to say this is a feature in Battlefield 3 – the game’s still in heavy development and the full list of features has yet to be revealed. Another response we received from Topic Tuesdays comes from Joshua Mikhail Amezcua, commenting on some of the class changes found in Battlefield 3, as seen in Battleblog #2. “I work in pararescue in the Air Force. I have seen first hand how much hard work and training goes into being a combat medic,” says Amezcua. “Finally, the BF series is getting it right in blending the assualt and medic classes into one, allowing gamers to get as close to being a combat medic as possible without actually joining the military.” We’re thrilled that you dig it, Josh! As we said before, in Battlefield 3, you can play your way, and this is just another example of how you can accomplish that. MSNBC posted a video preview for Battlefield 3 this week, calling it “a new reality for gaming.” Want to take a look as MSNBC’s Todd Kenreck chats with Patrick Söderlund about the game? We’ve got it for you right here… http://blogs.battlefield.ea.com/resized-image.ashx/__size/550x316/__key/CommunityServer.Blogs.Components.WeblogFiles/battlefield_5F00_bad_5F00_company/msnbc.jpg Last week, we featured fan videos that focused on knife kills – this week, we’re going a bit bigger as we’re focusing on the explosive nature of the Battlefield.
