For nearly a decade, devoted service members have fought for our country in Iraq and Afghanistan; during combat thousands have returned severely injured and are at varying stages of recovery. The numerous soldiers who have sacrificed greatly are faced with challanges adjusting to life after suffering their ailments. However, through their dedicated efforts and determinatination, they have rebounded with strength and have very powerful, inspirational stories to share with us. The one (1) hour show is hosted by Bret Baier of Special Report on the Fox News Channel, where he delves into the many issues these heroes face including PTSD, TBI, role of athletics in recovery and joining the workforce. "The Wounded Warrior Experience" premiers November 11th (Veterans Day) on the Pentagon Channel and the American Forces Network. 3. Just in from Medal of Honor 2010 Blog Feed Game With Military After Action Report On Veteran's Day, EA teamed up with the OffDutyGamers crew to bring you a Game with Military event. Hit the jump for the full after action report. I am pleased to report that our Veterans Day ‘game with military’ event went well and from the comments I’ve received the military gamers really appreciated the kind words and opportunities that came from it. We simply asked military gamers to play online and hoped that the community of gamers playing Medal of Honor would engage these players and while we’ve learned a few things about the process, ultimately it was a success. Here’s what some of the troops had to say about it. “Played for about 4 hours today with a few new friends. Most of the conversation was pretty game specific, but some asked a few fun questions. ‘Are the machine guns as much fun to fire in person as they are on the game?’ My answer was that as long as you were at a range vs real life and you had someone else to clean it, they were a lot of fun.” – ‘the blake 74’ (xbox) “I played MOH with a few other servicemen tonight. We had a lot of fun and showed the other people on our team that communication is key. One of the players announced that there were servicemen playing on their team. Many of our teammates voiced their support, thanks, and appreciation for us, and all service men and women. Thanks again!" – ‘ssuntzuu’ (ps3) “I had a great time and hope that there will be more events like this!” - x_STiLETTO_x (ps3) “As promised I played [Medal of Honor] today. Since the games release I have been taken aback on the amount of realism it has. I just got back from Afghanistan this July and in so many occasions playing this game it brings my mind back to the hills of Zabul, the Bazaars of Kandahar City, and the fierce fighting of Helmand. I will never forget those days where I fought alongside the greatest men our generation has ever seen." As I laid waste to another player during the game I received an invite. One at first but moments later I received many more. It dawned on me this was the OPFOR I was playing against! As I accepted the first request I received a message from one of players. He had noticed who I was threw the [Medal of Honor] website and he told his men that I was a veteran and how today was a day for honoring men like me. I invited him and as many as i could into a game with me and when the game was loading I heard clapping in my ear. The men had actually applauded me via [Medal of Honor]. I was very taken aback. I was at a loss for words. Thank you for this. My unit in Afghanistan suffered the most in losses in the war history. Tonight I felt that those men who lost their lives were truly and without a doubt remembered." - CaliKing5150 (ps3) “Thanks for setting this up and working hard at doing so! I was able to log on to [Medal of Honor] and "work" with some very respectful people online. I served in Iraq from 2003-2004 with the 204th Military Police Co. out of Fort Polk, Louisiana and lived in Baghdad the entire time. My experience was and is forever life changing as I avoided death on a daily basis being a gunner. I appreciate my life and the family I have been blessed with. If I did not make it, I would not have my wonderful wife or children. My experience is one of heartbreak and love for my fellow soldiers that stood with me and fought the same danger I did. I am honored to have served and to share my experience with you and the gaming community!” - FullTimeXreme1 (xbox) “I am from the Netherlands. I loved it and it was very cool to get some military friends on my ps3 list. Now i can game with some people who know what they are doing ha ha ha. I love Medal of Honor and i can’t wait to get the next part.” - rick751229148 (ps3) In closing I would just like to take one more opportunity to thank everyone who participated. It continues to be an honor and a privilege to be part of this unique military community. Mark ‘Rigger82’ Christianson Owner - Off Duty Gamers http://www.OffDutyGamers.com More... 4. Just in from Medal of Honor 2010 Blog Feed Hot Zone May Surprise You OffDutyGamers' Mark Christianson shares his thoughts on the DLC mode Hot Zone. As a military gamer when I heard about Clean Sweep which makes players pay for mistakes and limits the run/gun crowd with its dead for the round layout, I was excited thinking that THIS was the Medal of Honor mode I'd most likely end up finding most of the military and other tactical players playing but I was suprisingly wrong. Hot Zone, while seeing generally low numbers due to the paid DLC is actually the mode I find myself playing and enjoying more. What suprised me is that the game is 'king of the hill' with a single objective both teams are trying to take and hold. Lots of respawn here which from the outside led me to believe I would dislike it since you would see little use of tactics and a lot of big boom attacks. There's quite a bit to like about this map mode including: -Snipers can be used but the map size is compact and the HOLD aspect of the game means that knocking out your enemy doenst necessarily gain anything till you TAKE the objective. Also not many open lanes for snipers to take long shots. -Attractive to the run/gun players but tactical players who work together can form a 360 perimeter and hold that objective nearly negating the 'me me me' players as they wash up time and time again against a wall of perimeter fire. -Greatest asset in this mode isnt the offensive score chain awards but the defensive. Knowing WHERE the attack is coming from, upgrading ammo or gaining a flack vest strengthens a solid perimeter or can create a formidable organized assault. The map design allows holding the objective inside protection and outside vantage points which thwarts many of the offensive score chain attacks. -Teamwork pays off here as you have to take the objective to get points and win so mowing down the opposition does nothing if your team cannot hold it more than a few moments. -Teams that hang back, are dead. If you dont push forward and work with a coordinated effort then you and your team better get used to seeing the 'You Lose' animation. There's a bunch of talk that this mode should have been in the game from the start. I have to agree that this mode would have been a solid addition to the modes and offered a little something different in multiplayer but the DLC decision's are likely made a few pay grades higher than the production team and we cant change that. If you're a fan of Medal of Honor then I would say you'll appreciate Hot Zone. If you're a fan of Medal of Honor and you're military or get jazzed when you can push the enemy into a frenzy when they cannot seem to penetrate your defense, then you will like this mode. Reading this article you might think I was getting some $$ for promoting the DLC but I assure you Im not, in fact I too purchased the DLC from my own milk money (hope the wife isnt reading this). As with anything, your style of play and your opinions may vary but if you like this game, consider Hot Zone and give it a try. 6. Just in from Medal of Honor 2010 Blog Feed Like a G6, Like a G6... But Half EA_Dink is back in the fray with another installment his shooter tips. Take a look! You may learn something new. Today we’re bringing you another special blog written by EA_Dink, helping give some pro-tips when playing Medal of Honor online. For those who missed out the first time around, EA_Dink is a Product Manager for EA shooters and is, by far and wide, the best Medal of Honor player in the company. In fact, he's given me some mighty tips to help me with my game on more than one occasion. In short, the man has skills and he knows what he's talking about. Without further ado, take it away Dink! http://cdn.medalofhonor.com/sites/default/files/images/shooterprotips.jpg Today, I want to tell you about one of the more under-rated sniper rifles, the G3. While you can find plenty of history on it here, what you really want to know is how to use it online in Medal of Honor. Matty P may have his own take on this particular sniper selection, the fragalicious kills I’ve dished out with this weapon has enlightened me with this advice: Right setup: The G3 is a medium range rifle so don’t be looking to park it in one spot with this gun. Rather, I see it as a tactical and mobile attack weapon. For me, the best setup is combat scope with the extended ammo, open-tip doesn’t add the pop that it does for some of the other weapons. Now that you’re set with your hardware, here are a few strategies I employ when running and gunning with the G3. First, like any weapon in the sniper class, you should try to only fire that weapon while zoomed in (more on this later) and preferably not moving, but alas that won’t always hold true. Secondly, this is a run and gun weapon; get to a location, crouching in cover if possible, and pick out your targets, this best works for Combat Mission and Sector Control modes IMO. Once you’ve spotted an enemy or two, let loose at least 5 rounds – remember, the extended mag holds plenty (20 rounds I believe) so spread your leaded love. The trick here is to forget your “sniper” mentality of making every shot count for a kill, because the weapon licks off rounds so quickly jam on that trigger as fast as you can. In fact, I often prefer to get closer to the mix where soldiers are running through an open area and just follow them across the map, rather than picking a location and waiting for someone to run into my scope (as I would for an M24 shot). Another helpful tactic, for two reasons, is to makes sure that if and when you are in tight spaces you run around with you pistol out, rather than the G3. In this case, your primary weapon has a slower raise-to-zoom than some of the more compact weapons out there and having your pistol drawn helps give you that edge back, although you sacrifice distance and accuracy. Secondly, due to its semi-auto nature, firing the G3 from the hip results in amazing inaccurate shots (you might kill someone on another server, who knows). That’s all for now on this topic, give it a whirl and let me know what you think! I'll be happy to hear your woes and “just pwned you, noob” rants based on this post. -Dinkster More...
