After about an hour of cursin STEAM, I got onto the server and found.....miracle of miracles, I can play again without sliding everwhere after the update! Praise the FA gods! My need of a new PC is now on hold, at least until HL2 is out. See ya' all soon on the server!

After struggling with my gameplay problems and trying all the suggestions put forth by the MANY helpful people here, I am going to stop playing FA until I can get a new computer running. The problems just won't go away, so maybe it is my connection, but I attribute it to the hair-puller called STEAM. Never had these kind of problems before I installed it. I figure since FA isn't officially supported by VALVE, and since I don't have the same problems with any other mods.........I don't know. But I can't play FA like this anymore. Once I get my new rig going after the the first of the year, I will try again. It really burns me also because I was just allowed to join a group of some of the best fellow gamers around. I hope to see all of you in about a month or two. Happy fragging. :wink:

Before 2.8, I never had this problem and of course I was running ME at the time, so not sure if XP is the answer. I did a defrag, no help. I might try a re-install next, not sure what else to do. Only thing I do know for sure is FA is almost unplayable now. Its very frustrating to be sliding around shooting aimlessly because you cant control where you are going. I wont be playing much if at all until this is fixed.Also, I don't have this problem with DOD or CS. And I don't really like playing either one of those mods. Go figure it has to happen to the one mod I like.

Windows ME (Please don't laugh at me =[ ) Connect through steam Athlon 1700xp, 512 ram, 120g HD, Geforce 2mx (my g4 4200i card burned up if u recall, still stinks in this room) soundblaster audigy and ummm I guess thats it. something to add, this problem only occurs with keystrokes, mouse movement and buttons are not affected Thanks SC

Since 2.8/Steam, I have had a bad problem with what I think is lag, but I could be way off, I've been known to be wrong before. My controls are very "mushy" is the way I would put it, when I try to change directions, it may take a second or two for the keystroke to kick in, and I notice that if I am typing in chat, frequently my keystrokes take a second or so to appear sometimes. It is annoying to say the least. So, does this sound like "lag" to those that might be better informed than I? And if so, is there any suggestions that might help me with this problem? Its frustrating to get near a cliff or something high up, try to get near the edge to look over, and then to fall off because the game doesnt recognize I've already stopped pressing "w". Thanks in advance for any advice/help.

A husband and wife are fast asleep when a knock at their door awakens them at 3 AM. Grumpily, the man gets up and goes down to see who could be at the door at such an ungodly hour. He opens the door to see a middle aged man squinting at him. The guy is staggering around, obviously drunk. The husband yells "What the heck do you want, don't you know its 3 in the morning!?" The drunk says "Terribly sorry to bother you, but could you give me a push?" The husband replies hastily "No now get out of here!" and goes back up to bed. He tells his wife what happened and his wife says "Honey, don't you think you could have showed a little more compassion toward the guy? Why don't you go back down there and help him." Knowing that if he doesn't he will be in the doghouse, the man gets up, puts on his clothes and goes outside. He is standing at his door but the drunk is no where to be seen, and there are no cars in the street. So he calls out "Hey, are you out there?" From off in the dark he hears a somewhat faint cry "Yes". He calls out "Do you still need a push?" Again he hears the drunk cry out "Yes". "Well where in the heck are you?" the man yells. And the drunk replies "Im over here.......On the swing."

Congrats to you and your wife on the upcoming rugrat! I am fortunate/unfortunate enough (depending on your point of view) to be single and childless. I always have fun with my friends kids, but am always glad if they start to cry that they are somebody else offspring.

This morning while trying to play Tiger Woods 2004, my PC locked up. This has been happening alot lately and I have been at a loss to figure out what the problem was. I got my answer after I tried to restart my comp, and after a few seconds, smoke-LOTS OF SMOKE, started pouring out of my PC. OY! What a smell too! I pulled it apart and saw a burned out resistor (at least thats what I think it was) on my vid card. So much for my Geforce 4200I. Luckily, I kept my old card and whithin a half hour, I was back up and running. But that was one of the most helpless, despair filled feelings ever. Anyone else ever have their comp catch fire or the like?

EWWWW! A Jeff Gordon poster on the wall?? Sigh, just lost a bit of respect I guess Mac. But the killer pc set-up makes up for it I guess. What is the config of your best rig?
