Let me clarify something here, I ran past Stealth about ten times and he was just standing there, obviously afk. I gave him plenty of time to rejoin the game and only kicked him when it looked like he would not be back for a while. If you are defending the base or the like and are not showing a score, I think most admins will send you a msg, even a private msg to see if you are afk.

I have run into the sticky keys thing before when I have crouched/stood in rapid succesion, so not sure if that is it. Suppose I'll just try a new keyboard and save the receipt in case thats not it............sure hope I don't need a new mobo, just got this one the 1st of the year...

I was the one who kicked you for being afk. As LFM said, you didn't do anything wrong, the server was full though and I wanted to open up a spot for someone trying to get in.

Can't decide if there is something wrong with my keyboard or if it is a more serious problem............For about a month now, every so often while playing FA or Far Cry or the like, I will hear a couple of beep/blips from my PC and then my keyboard will lock up and be completely unresponsive. I have to hit the power button to shut everything down and then start back up. I am using a very old keyboard, its the only original piece left over from my 1st computer. Is it possible that I just need to replace it? The problem only seems to occur when I am pressing mutiple buttons, such as trying to crouch and move diagonally, and it is an intermittent problem, I can go for hours and hours sometimes and not have a problem and other times I will lock up, restart and within five minutes lock up again. :x So I'm kind of at a loss, I suppose I could just get a new keyboard and see if that takes care of the problem, but if anyone has any advice to offer, I would appreciate it.

I'm with Pun for the most part, but I also have a fondness for iwo. As far as the new map cycle, there are two maps, coldwar and oberland, that cause the player count to plummit usually. Each time these roll around, the server seems to lose about half the players. I would suggest these be removed and replaced 1st, but that is just one persons opinion.

Using paint gives me an error messages that the file is not supported and cannot read the file. Found out I can view the screeshot using Window Media Player (???) but thats the only thing that works for viewing. Doesn't everyone have the screenshots saved in .tga form and if so, why could someone use paint to see but I can't?

I have a couple of good shots of a howitzer firing, but I have no idea how to post these, especially since they are a .tga file and I don't know what program to use to view them :? Any suggestions??

Just downloaded all the necessary stuff and installed it. Naturally, BF1942 is completely unplayable now. When I launch, I get the regular logo, the screen then goes black and then I crash back to the desktop. *Sigh* And yes, I have all the latest drivers. Was really looking forward to playing today also. Thank god only a few days till my new stuff gets here.

I decided to try this mod this morning. If I'm not mistaken, since this is listed under the "my games" section of steam, and Firearms is under "third party", then Ricochet is an officially supported game. Why do they officially support such an insipid and boring game? Talk about lack of depth. Jump around and throw discs at players and try to knock them into space. Unless I missed something, thats the point of the game. No different weapons, no skills, no different classes. Whoopee........I play alot of DoD as well as Firearms, and in my opinion, DoD can't hold a candle to Firearms. It is very realistic and fun to play, but Firearms has more depth and varied gameplay than any mod out there except perhaps Natural Selection, another good mod that Valve doesn't get behind. It is sad to see the dwindling numbers of players on the FA servers. I just hope when HL2 comes out, it will not signal the death of the really good unofficial mods that are out there. Just my 2 cents. Anyway, happy holidays to everyone.

I am going to be building a new PC after the first of the year and was hoping to get opinions on whether or not I should upgrade to XP finally or stick with 98se. I have BF1942, but ever since my video card burned up, my frame rates are terrible, making it almost unplayable, except at extremely low resolutions. Unless the mod is not as graphic intesive, I wont be able to participate like I would want to until I can get a new rig built. Hopefully I can start getting the stuff I need after the 1st of the year. 1st thing I'll buy is a new video card and use it in my current machine so then I could probably join the fray. Til then, happy fragging :wink:

For some odd reason, I am getting pings around 1500 on the 26 player server. In fact, about half the servers on the full list are pinging back at about that rate. The rest of the servers, like the TAC, Tracy's and the DW/TA server are fine. Anyone else having this problem by chance?

My experience was about the same as the old/standard server. Same ping, but maybe a little better frame rate on the new one. The one thing I did not like was seeing/hearing the cursing. I'm not overly offended when people do it, but I do enjoy playing on a server where everyone can play without having to deal with language they may not care for. Any ideas on what the rules of this server are going to be?
