  1. 2004-Mar-17: Version 2.2.0 released. Mandatory Server and Client update. As you can see, it appears that it is mandatory for you to update the server version because the company says so.

I hate the T3 gunships, and the new game uses them, that is why I will not play it.I like the old sytle ones, they look more fuctional... not like flying SUVs.
  3. Yeah, the cards are easy to duplicate, or read for that matter, it's just a binary magnetic strip.
  4. Yeah, was just about to say.... haven't played DC or FA at all yesterday or today since I'm busy doing some ownage with the M60 in BFV.
  5. Why you should use indoor ATMs. such as the ones inside of you bank, malls, or convenient stores.
  6. Heh, wonder what they are saying to each other.

  8. Well, with all the vegetation sprites that have vibrant colors, the game looks fantastic even on the lowest detail settings.I have a 2Ghz Athlon+, 512 MBs and a Radeon 8500, and at 800*600*32 with modest detail settings, the game is smoother then BF1942 for me. I wouldn't say the models are any better or worse then BF1942, but the sprites look alot better (eg, when you are in vegetation, it blurs the sprites to simulate both eye angles) and the colors are much better, so that's where you see all the visual differences. Ovrall, I seems that the heavier reliance on detailed sprites for vegetation makes BFV perform better then BF1942, and it looks better since there is so much more detail on the maps because of it.
  9. Heya allI though I'd post my 1st impressions of BFV so you can see if you'll like it or not.The 1st things I noticed are 1)You can't see jack in the jungle. Most of the time you don't even know where you're being shot at from. 2)The soldier vs soldier weapons are ultra powerful. I mean, I sprayed 10 rounds into a moving jeep with an M60, and all 4 people in it died instantly with little aiming effort. 1-2 hits with almost every weapon is a kill. 3)Vehicles have weak anti vehicle weapons, and it's the same 3-4 hits to kill a tank. Most of the time infantry will survive an indirect hit from a tank shell. Vehicle machine guns are a different story... same thing, 1-2 hits, rarely 3. 4)Sniper rifles are deadly, especially the US ones. They are very stable, recover quickly and are almost always on target. Heh, and the m16 sniper rifle variant fires as fast as you can click the mouse. :)So what does this mean? 1)Move real slow and stay hidden or die. 2)Get in an armored unit if you can when a fire fight starts.... heh, blind fire is VERY effective because of the dammage on the weapons. A couple of times the enemy was thick in the bushes and I couldn't see them, I opened up with the m60 in the general vicinity and sprayed all over the place, and people just dropped dead.Cool things of interest1)The driver of the vehicle can choose the radio song, and all the passengers listen to the same music. :)2)Helicopters work like they do in DC, but are VERY forgiving of errors.3)VC engineers can move tunnel spawn sites by digging a new tunnel4)VC engineers can plant punji sticks5)US has claymores *poof, you all die* :D6)The colors are very vibrant, it looks good.7)Reload animations are VERY well done8)Ever see the movie "We were soldiers?" The 7th cav battle is there. Very fun map, the NVA spwans are setup to attack the US LZ from quasi-historical diretions (including the dry river bed) and the US also has a spawn way off on the other side of the map where all the choppers are... so lose the LZ cap point, and you gotta start hauling people in over the distance where the NVA is waiting for you.Probably not a game for the charge in blasting kinda people, heh, as you don't live to long when you aren't under cover. it's more of a creep, locate enemies and concentrate fire kinda game.EDIT:Oh yeah, and the flyboys may be wondering "How do I target stuff in all that vegetation and hilly terrain? Sounds difficult compared to the open desert" Just look for the florescent smoke baby, and fly in weapons blazing.
  10. Yes! Found it. My local Future Shop got them in this evening.I'd recommend any Canadians looking to pick it up get it from Future Shop, they have an unadvertised $10 sale until march 18th, bringing the price from 49.99 CDN to 39.99 CDN. It's a pretty good deal considering $39.99 is what you expect to pay in USD for it.
  11. Arggghhhhhh!!!!!I can't find it anywhere. The only place that had it (eb) is sold out.:)I really want to drop some napalm today
  12. Does anyone know if there is napalm in this game?
  13. Come on, you know you want to fly the Phantom
  14. Sweet, I did one the other day I wish I had a mpg of. I fired a t72 shot off of at a helicopter as it went over a ridge. The arc was perfect, and I shot the helicopter down when it was completely obscured behind the ridge.
  15. :)This calls for a bud light
  16. >>A 9800 pro is out of the questionErr, a 9800Pro 128 should only be like $30-40 more then a 9600XT, even less if it's somthing like a Saphire 9800, and not a real ATI 9800. Infact, I just saw a 9800 pro 128 at futureshop for $300 CDN, and futureshop does not have good prices.
  17. I dunno, game balance wise the VSS is pretty silly. No skill required, point and click and if it's in your crosshair it's dead.Last night Deadroach surprised me, I had enough time to turn, shoot and kill him before he had done even 1/2 dammage to me.... that's just silly. The problem with the VSS is that alot of times you can fire second, and still kill the person who fired 1st while keeping 1/2 or more of your dammage intact.
  18. Yes, but, do you consider an expansion to a game you have to pay for part of an auto-update?
  19. Just when I thought I couldn't hate Steam anymore....For some reason my online games were playing really crap with lag and all, and my speed tests were 1MB/sec slower then normal. Hmm, windows is reporting network bandwidth activity... but from where? Do I have a virus or trojan? Hmm....So I look into the steam monitor..... hey look, it's precaching CS:CZ onto my system. Thanks Valve, I like it when you steal my bandwitch that I have a monthly cap on.Oh, and I suppose this will happen every update since I always end up having to reinstall EVRYTHING in my platinum pack! That's it, I'm writing my member of parliament.
  20. Yep, it is smokinIt took like 10 seconds to DL each of the new maps as they came up in the cycle today.
  21. The other problem is that some maps are far easier to sniper camp on then others, especially is there is more then 1 sniper. Bocage being a prime example. Sometimes I might as well just wait until the map changes because 2-3 snipers can cover the entire base and kill people 5-6 times in a row before they can even run for cover.I'd rather see the rules like this1)a)If you lose all your spawns, anything goes at the uncap spawn. 1)b)A grey flag does not count towards lifting legitmate spawn campers, you must actually own one flag 1st.1)c)When you regain a flag, enemies at your spawn must make an effort for a fighting withdrawl. 1d)If you own 1 flag, and it becomes grey again, the spawn campers that were withdrawing may return again. 2)a)Only indirect fire or air strikes on an uncapturable spawn if the enemy owns any flags. b)Snipers can fire into an uncapturable spawn, as long as they are shooting away from their base and into the enemy base. Getting setup behind the enemy base so you are shooting towards your own base is lame and should not be allowed unless the enemy has lost all his flags.Just my opinion
  22. Say what you want about the Canadian goevrnment, but the law forcing Bell to resell DSL bandwidth to independant ISPs rules!!!!!3.5M/sec conn for 29.95 CDN per month. I admit it has a 25GB/month cap, but that is pretty high, and any packets send between 2am and 10am count as off peak time and are not added to the 25GB/month total :)I cannot complain... well... except about FA 2.8 physics where I can unload a G36E at point blank range into someone's head and they can still turn around and kill me. :\
  23. >>US forces against US forcesWe can do the whole North vs South civil war thing because Deadroach can supply the appropriate southern soldier atmosphere just by talking.
  24. One almost hopes they make a new version of DC specific to BFVietnam just so we can have the lock on/wire guided missiles
  25. http://www.steampowered.com/index.php?area=news Yay Now I can do the same thing all over again when they re-release it. :\
