An Alienware liquid cooled Tri-Ultra QX6850 with the same specs was $6,500, the Puget Deluge-i L3 has an QX9650 and is $1,500 more.

I like to build my own PC's so I would never buy a complete system from any store, some people don't have the time or don't know how to build, if they have cash like that to spend on a PC someones gonna sell em it.

$200 means nothing if you're spending 8k.

1) Their platform is 680i, not 780i - so they have no 45nm chips. ooooold.

2) We overclock to over 4ghz.

3) Their watercooling system is an off-the-shelf getup. Basically a closed loop system that they can just have any tech install like any other cooler. We have similar products we use for our lower-end stuff. The stuff is cheap and very easy to use. However, our Deluge is cooled by a whole custom system that we put together by hand. Uses all of the best water cooling equipment on the market, custom mounted so it's all internal to our chassis. It might look like it's pretty low-key because it all fits inside, but we've got 3 120mm radiators in there. When our Skulltrail system launches very soon, there will be *4*! Basically, there is a big difference here.

4) Check Alienware's resellerratings. rofl

Our system is next to be reviewed there in that same lab at THG. Few weeks probably. I'm actually doing a joint piece with Rob, who wrote that article, on the PC Gaming slump.

Keep us posted as to when your system will be posted on Toms. I'm sure everyone here is very curious to see the results. Don't forget you have a tough crowd....lol
I'll trade you my "gaming" laptop and a kidney for one of those triple SLI systems...

I was just pointing out a slower Alienware is $1,500 less, I'm sure if they had a QX9650 780i it would be around the same price, I wasn't trying to slam you at all.

If I had to choose between Alienware and one of your systems with the same specs I'd choose you, I like how clean your cases look and in my experience customer support is better with smaller companies vs huge ones.

Gaming and Laptop do not belong in the same sentence unless you are talking about Solitaire.

What games do you play edborden?

As far as the PC goes. Way to expensive for me, just like everyone else. I do see however why they are like that. It is kind of the same reason why you buy the overclocked version of video cards. Not because you can't do it yourselves, but because if that piece of hardware were to break. It would be the "users" fault. Which would mean not covered by warrenty. Where as your 4ghz. cpu were to break or anything else in that monsterous pc. It would be the sellers/builders fault, and they would have to replace it at their cost not the consumers. Which over three years could get expensive. Then again, if nothing breaks and all goes well. You just made a nice chunk of change.

it's not a gaming laptop...it's a "gaming" laptop!

It varies naturally. I recently played through Crysis and some of Bioshock because of all of the press. Online I reinstalled CS:source the other day because I was feeling nostalgic, so that and Company of Heroes are what I'm currently messing around with. I'll probably give COD4 a whirl next, but I'm really waiting for this game I saw at CES... Frontline or something. I need a new MMO shooter, like Battlefield. That's my favorite by far.

Anywho. If there's something specific you want me to give you a spanking in, just let me know
