October 17, 200915 yr MSDNAA gave me Win 7 pro recently, before that I had Ultimate RC. I use the x64 and x32 on my 5 year old laptop (works GREAT amazingly, even with aero). I whole heartedly recommend the upgrade, its light years ahead of XP and what Vista should have been. That being said, networking is better but still iffy, and file browsing, while improved, is still clunky. Funnily enough, Windows 7 appears to be a lot more backwards compatible than Vista. Also, based off the responses so far and from other experiences, it seems Windows 7 is free ; ) which is a big plus, it really undercuts the linux crowd lol.
October 18, 200915 yr I am running ultimate right now but do not use that many features. I am not sure right now what I will get. Whatever it is will be 64 bit.
October 20, 200915 yr Change my vote to Ultimate - 64 ...Not that I need most of the stuff ultimate does...I just got a good deal. BTW here is a chart if you havent seen what each one does...sorry if someone already posted this... http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/compare
October 21, 200915 yr Tomorrow is the big day. My copy is shipping from NJ so i should have it here hopefully by Friday. I decided to go Pro this time mainly because i have Vista Ultimate and i really didn't use the extra features plus the 35 language packs. Look forward to getting it and setting up XP Virtual Mode.
October 25, 200915 yr I can get Enterprise from my university for free. Enterprise is just the volume license version of Ultimate.
November 14, 200915 yr I ordered two copies of W7Pro when they were 50% off. Upgraded Vista Ultimate to W7Pro and still have another copy to use in the future.
January 3, 201015 yr I have 2copies of Win 7 Ultimate, and 1 Win 7 Pro. Don't even have enough machines to run them on. All legit.
