So, I built my new stuff..

I can run my PC for hours with no issues, but when I am in BC2, I can't play more than 2 rounds before my computer hard boots (it shuts down and restarts) No blue screen, nothing in the event log other than "previous shutdown was unexpected"

I have stuff monitoring temps, CPU goes up to 60-65C while in game, and GPU goes up to 75C. The only other thing I can think of is the 500W PS, but running one of the power calculators says my setup needs less than 400W to run.

Any other suggestions?

Well I am running a 430W PSU and haven't had a problem... Is your GPU overclocked? 75 seems high to me as mine never goes over the mid 50s with a little OC and while gaming.

My CPU runs around 49c, and it's an AMD. :peace:

I'm guessing it must be your power supply. Other than over heating, I can't think of anything else that would exhibit symtoms like that.

A good test for you to run is to unplug all unnessessary items like certain PCI cards, CD Drives, etc, and then see if you are still having the issue. You should also look up the specs on your SLI power rails, and see what they are rated for. It could be your rail(s) are not providing enough power to the card.

My cpu is at 23c and its an Intel :peace: ... well my case cost more than my cpu....

When motherboard itself reset and reboot = overheat of cpu or gpu... Or standard power supply "problems" of voltage or current or overheat too... <--- I got reset mobo often like your when -5 volts became -6 volts! I seen that when I tested the power supply on a old pc via the bios under win98...

Check all your fans: check if your cpu fan is mounted inverted = it must suck air and blow towards the cpu and especially and very dangerous not suck hot air from the cpu up to you or if you pass your hand over the cpu fan and you feel warm air = very dangerous the cpu fan was mounted upside down = you will burn your cpu!

Or if you have a standard power supply does not follow the energy expended or your standard power supply is not enough ventilation = detectors of the motherboard are safe and reset or reboot the PC before any damage can occur and will cost dearly...

If your graphic card have 2 external powers connectors = 750 to 850 Watts of a standard power supply will be needed or a nice "Dark Power Pro" 550 or 650 power supply only will be enough...

My cpu AMD Athlon xp 3000+ is at 45? C and 50 to 52? C in game.

My gpu is between 47? C to 55? C (256MB. onboarded).

Egidio.

Sounds to me like a PS problem too. Sometimes they just go bad but work enough to do mundane tasks like surfing and what not. But the moment you put the computer under any load, it just can't hold the voltage. Does it do the reboot when running prime95?

My 2 cents worth, not mentioned yet, is wondering if the bios is set to shutdown or reboot if certain parts reach a specified temp or voltage ?

Interesting that just this game causes it. I presume it's pushing your system more then any other. Might turning it's sound and video quality and res down help ?
