Posted June 28, 201312 yr Although I do not live near there if I had to work today I wouldn't be able to get there. More images on this page from the 2-4 in of rain we got last night https://www.facebook.com/cnyflooding
June 28, 201312 yr Author Yes the store itself is ok however one of my co-workers just called and said we had over 70 call ins they should have shut the place down but didn't. More call ins expected tomorrow. More rain is in forecast any extra rain will continue to increase the flooding. Our main river the Mohawk river is at moderate stage and is expected to crest early tomorrow (providing no more rain). http://water.weather.gov/ahps2/hydrograph.php?wfo=aly&gage=ucan6 Oneida, NY had a levee breach and a good chunk of the town is under water. The Oneida Creek crested at record stage 16.7ft. About 30mi west of my town. http://water.weather.gov/ahps2/hydrograph.php?wfo=bgm&gage=nein6 I have two routes to get to work and all of them were underwater this morning. As of this moment they are back open as long as we get no more rain I can get to work tomorrow. If we had gotten another inch of rain most likely the store would have been under water. Unusual weather pattern for this time of the year.
June 30, 201312 yr Author Rain still in the forecast they are expecting another heavy bout later in the week. We had some gully washers today and it quickly prompted flood warnings. Everything up here is super saturated any rain we get runs off into the creeks streams and rivers. Even just a small amount of rain of .25 or less is causing problems. Road are collapsing to everything being saturated and undercut. Sink holes are appearing.
June 30, 201312 yr Be careful buddy. I hope it stops raining long enough for you guys to dry out a bit.
July 1, 201312 yr Author Another flood watch has been issued for additional 2-4in of rain today into tonight. NWS said flooding is expected again in the areas that are previously hit even possibly worse due to the ground being saturated. Our main river is still above flood stage. Currently at 404ft it crested at 407ft 4ft below the record of 411ft. I work late tonight so chances of me getting home are very slim if everything starts flooding again. Decaff quit sending us all this rain we don't need anymore.
July 2, 201312 yr Author Just got off of work. No later than 10minutes up the road the store is evacuated due to a levee breach.

July 3, 201312 yr Author The good news is the levee didn't breach and the store is still standing. Rain continues to be in the forecast. The levee is still in danger of collapsing but they are trying to repair it. On another note I was talking to one of the Fire Dept guys and they said that Hinckley Reservoir dam has stress fractures in it. If that dam fails the entire town downstream goes with it. Crazy weather I've been here for 8 years and I have never seen anything like this. We have picked up about 6 inches of rain over the last 5 days. Enough is enough.
July 3, 201312 yr If it makes you feel any better, Ding, it rained some here in Florida today, and watered my grass nicely.
July 5, 201312 yr you should have seen how bad the flood was here in Oneida was up to second floor on some places https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151679176164693&set=a.398831239692.173260.669369692&type=1&relevant_count=1 https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=554893977883046&set=a.554893961216381.1073741825.100000873470376&type=1&relevant_count=1
July 6, 201312 yr Author Ya bravo I saw the pictures of the flooding in Oneida you guys had one levee breach and 2 dams fail. Oneida creek crested at over 20' that was a record.
July 10, 201312 yr Looks like Gator and I will be getting plenty of rain real soon! Just hope it dissipates before it can get that far north. http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/refresh/graphics_at3+shtml/115019.shtml?5-daynl#contents
July 10, 201312 yr Author The good news our rainy, hot, and humid weather has come to an end cold front moving through tonight back to seasonal norms with plenty of sun. I hope the range has dried out enough I've got an itchy trigger finger.
