New TAC Server, 24/7 Sharqi No Rules

Featured Replies

Hey guys, I dropped another $25 towards the clan pay, and so Gator and I decided today to try starting a new TAC server. There is a special going on at the moment, so we said why not. We aren't pressuring anyone to donate, we are just trying this out at the moment to see if we can get some momentum going with TAC before BF4.

We know everyone wants to support a TAC server, so were going to give it a shot. We're hoping we can get some momentum before BF4 comes out and do some recruiting too. The server is located in Dallas.

At the moment, the server is focusing on hosting the Sharqi Peninsula map with mixed modes, 48 player, possibly expanding to the rest of the BF2 maps, but were keeping an open mind about everything. Right now, it is hard to find a server playing Sharqi, and it is a very fun map with helicopters, tanks, and close quarters type combat, it's a really fun map.

We hope to have it running by this afternoon and we'd love to see you in there.

We're getting quite a few regulars in the server now. One mentioned the other day, a fun respectful server, can it be true? Hopefully some of them will find the forums to see how awesome our community really is. We can all thank Gator for that!

Hi peeps!

I've been busy with work and many other "situations" going on. I want to start gaming again, as I have more time on my hands.

With that being said, I will start donating as well, but I believe that for us to start our servers again, we MUST have some rules. We should think about the reasons why most of the pubers leave and what makes them join. With all that in mind, we as admins, must push other clan members to follow the rules too, and be an example to "team player".

I've always played along side you all vets from =TAC=, ever since I started gaming BF (2007). If we make this possible, we might be seeing a growing community/clan in no time.

So my first thoughts are:

  • Implementing new and better rules when playing online.

  • We should start a thread or a tab in our main webpage of "recommendations" and really take them into consideration and have a weekly meeting of these topics to discuss everything.

Hope to play with you all this weekend.

Hey Prem, we have already rented a BF3 server, so you can check it out here.  The server will be converted to a BF4 when the game is released.

I believe that most players don't like rules, especially me, so I see no need to create any rules.  I was recently in a "Crouch Only" server, and got booted for not crouching and running around.  Good God, how I hate servers with rules.  The developers of the game went to great strides to make it fundamentally balanced, so I see no need. The reason one team dominates over the other is because one team has too many snipers laying on their asses, and not enough flag cappers.  So the few minions who are actually playing the game as it was designed are getting their asses whipped.  They are losing because they are not capping flags, and quite honestly, they can leave, because I would rather engage with 12 players who actually play the game, than 50 players sitting on their little asses expecting to win.  If you see my point...  :)   I do agree, however, we should have a meeting to discuss other issues like mode and map type, as well as finances and game participation.

For us to truly have a successful server, I know of a few things that would help make it a success:

- Armory members "must" support it when they have time'  Yes, that means sitting in the server with only a few folks until it gets populated.

- Consistency with a good map cycle and game type is paramount.  (this is one of those issues that we should have a meeting about to discuss)

I remember when BC2 came out, and we were finished with BF2.  We had some players who refused to change to BC2, and initially continued to play on BF2 servers, which hurt us trying to get the server populated.  We had another group who said they "could not wait until BF3" came out, so when it did, they played a few weeks and were hardly seen again. It takes a village to raise a vibrant and successful server, and not some old retired military guy sitting in the server all day.

Just me two cents... :)

Absolutely agree.

But I mean rules, I mean as no =A= stacking, balance the game if one side is doing horrible, and so on. This makes it more entertaining and makes people want to stay, then leaving and looking for a more "balanced" game elsewhere. Etc Etc

Absolutely agree.

There are always unspoken community rules like not allowing racism or other hate talk and disrespect, etc.. But as far as gaming goes, people just don't like rules. It may be why this server is becoming popular. Personally, I've never seen a new server perform this well right off the bat. I mean, we had over 30 players the first night! We are getting lots of regulars in every night and getting 20+ players with just a few TAC members to start it up. I bet that 99% of us don't feel it is right to kick someone for sniping too much, or wiping out the whole team with a chopper or tank, etc... although I'll admit sometimes I wish theadmiral would put that damn tank away sometimes!
Some good times tonight!! :)    Too bad it crashed early on probably would have been around 30 players about now :(
Am i too drinky to understand this correctly? The =A= has a BF2 server? I am donating as soon as i can pry the plastic from the wife's hands.

SaLLLLLLuuuTTTTeee. Thank you Mr. Spock....,,

Im going to kick start my kick ass PC no sound, but you can hear me??,,,,

im almost off my sabatickle man do I have some stories for you :klinked:   :peace: Cats...... Standbyeee..,,,, fire!

Ok,so after a few rounds of some INTENSE BF3 last night, I want to suggest:

  • Scrambling the teams after every round, as most of you saw, we dropped many players when we started playing the Rush Wake Island map yesterday, and I mean lots of players, 50% of the players dropped when the first rushing team hadn't even won, if your thoughts lean on "well, there are many other servers out there to play on", that's not the mentality we need to get our community growing again.

  • Putting a few "old" maps of BF3 would might also help, like Grand Bazaar, probably Operation 925, these are fun and stress-free maps (non-rape maps.)

The Prem.

Wake Island rush did kill the server, it's weird though because one time the server picked up players with that map! The best part about last night was too see teamspeak crowded with Armory members!

Indeed. The thing is that the teams were unbalanced, which is why I brought up the "scramble the teams after every match" idea.

I strongly stand firm on the idea of keeping the teams auto-balanced at the beginning of each round and not team stacking against the regulars.
