BF4 Game Not Starting, Crashing, 3 Step Standard Fix

Featured Replies

There is a 3 step fix (Thanks to Gator for figuring it out) that resolves some of the problems we face when we aren't able to play the game.

This 3 step fix has worked for me when:

I updated the game and started getting crashing, 3 step fix, no more crashing!

Game wouldn't start at all, 3 step fix, working perfectly,

Random intermittent crashing, 3 step fix helps

It may work when having other problems too, so don't hesitate to try it out when the game won't work right.

Steps

1) Repair the BF4 Installation. Open up Origin. Right click on Battlefield 4, and select "Repair Install". This will take around 5 minutes.

2) Run PunkBuster Setup. Head over to the Armory Server Status Page, http://www.thearmory.cc/page/server_status.html, and click on the link "PBSetup Update Tool". http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php Download PBSetup , run it, follow the steps.

3) Run PunkBuster Services. Get on the Armory Server Status Page again, and click on the link "PB Services". http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsvcfaq.php Download and run PB Services.

That's it! Hopefully it solved your problems. If not, there is another crash fix, check this link for the details

Hi everyone. Some of you may have noticed already but I thought I would mention it anyways. Battlefield 4 is a very GPU intensive game and even more so than its previous installments. Consequently this also means that your graphics card runs hotter during BF4 play. Some crashes can be reduced by keeping your graphics card running cooler during BF4 play. This especially since almost every graphics card is designed and set by factory to operate with low noise in mind. Meaning that by default your graphics card may spin up to 50% fan speed at most.

There are several good tools out there for both monitoring and controlling your graphics cards. MSI Afterburner and EVGA Precision X are both good tools for this. They can be found at places like www.guru3d.com. While this solution is not directly linked to solving BF4 related crash issues it is still a way to reduce crashes overall. :)
