Elite Dangerous Review

Featured Replies

that was a pretty good review! Although it's behind a bit, We do have carriers now! and they sound awesome when jumping! I haven't seen one jump in yet but have heard that is impressive as well. Player Factions weren't covered and quite frankly I had no idea they were a thing until RogueSteward told me about them. SO that leads us to squadrons which if you join us in the squadron we can eventually ask for a fraction of our own. Then we can work to increase our faction's presence in the verse. Also coming up is the fps component of the game. That should add some fun stuff as well. Elite has a decent road map and I think they are taking things slowly to make sure it all fits together right. It's not for everyone but I enjoy the grind and you can roleplay as well.

just as a reminder plenty of tools out there to get your trade and building on. I also enjoy a bit more emersion using HCS voice paks and voice attack. With HCS its very simple to set up and will set ya back a total of like 10 bucks for voice attack and maybe 15 bucks to have captain kirk as your co pilot. Just install voice attack license it, then get a voice pack and install. check out the readme in the unzipped folder and your off it will build the keybinds for VA with the configuration tool and you're off. I also recommend the voice Alpha if you like a clint Eastwood vibe!

The review was a bit old, before the Horizon's update and that was before I ever even started playing. It didn't sound like he knows about all the trader tools in game, especially galmap commodity filters and commodity price market indicators. Those features could've been included after his review, I don't know. He didn't cover trade route data and how to get it. I primarily do trading in Elite Dangerous and I regularly find deals using the in-game tools that I don't find on 3rd party tools like Inara, as matter of fact, if the deals I find end up on Inara, they get exploited and I lose more profit! So, I don't run Inara updating tools because I don't want them finding out about the deals I discover. A lot of people just don't know how to find cheap gold and silver or how to find high buying starports for example and they have to rely on Inara. It is true that the marketplace doesn't update prices if you haven't been to that system before, but there are still ways to know if a commodity is sold at certain systems and to even know their prices, all without using 3rd party tools, but you have to know what you're doing ;-). For example, I know that a High Tech system celebrating a public holiday and also just recently out of a war will offer some of the highest prices for precious metals and I don't have to go to Inara or have ever visited the system to know that.

Also, he said there are no player-to-player missions, like bring materials to other commanders. There is now player economy. I routinely have a large demand of tritium on my carrier's marketplace and put up large purchase orders worth hundreds of millions of credits to other player cmdrs. I often buy and sell other goods too as the market demands. This is all passive too because I wake up the next day and find that someone has purchased all my beryllium and military grade fabrics materials, or other goods. As matter of fact, my whole trade and money making scheme is player economy driven.

He also didn't cover PvP at all, piracy, powerplay, or player minor factions. He really didn't even cover exploration. For some people, all they do is PvP and there is a whole science to it. For some, all they do is explore. Some people just do player minor faction (PMF) gameplay all day long and that is just what they do. I think some people in The Armory would absolutely love PMF gameplay. There is a whole player driven politics governing bubble-wide player minor factions expansion, retreats, and wars with factions engaging in long distance conflicts over rogue PMFs trying to unfairly capture systems and call them their own against local agreements. The Coalition is a council of faction ambassadors governing player minor faction conduct. If the Armory becomes a PMF, I suggest we join the Coalition. There are also a number of smaller coalitions that make up their own rules of engagement in their region of space. I have been doing this for some time and now want to do this for The Armory if/when we get our own player minor faction in the future.
