Posted December 18, 200618 yr You guys may have seen me around the titan server here. I just bought this game 2 weeks ago to replace counter strike source and I love it. This server and the people who play here are really great too compared to some of the other servers I have played, the armory people have really helped me out and weren't overly mean to me because I am a noob and kept crashing air transports or gunships lol. I am better now though and can almost pin point land them =). Does anyone know how to fix the 'lost connection to server' issue? I am running a netgear firewall with no ports open and it does this every now and then, but not too often but it seems to happen when I have a good score. Also, when I opened up all the required ports, I don't get any server list at all. Also, when being a commander, when a squad leader requests supplies, emp strike, etc.., how do you find the squad leader icon on the commander map? I know sometimes I find them and I right click and it says accept or decline, but I can't figure out what icon is which on that map. It doesn't always say that and I hunt forever and I just want to make sending supplies, or orders quicker. Also what is everyones favorite kit? I started off with assault and have the baur rifle and the advanced med hub and it is a powerful kit and I can go crazy reviving people and get a good score. But the recon kit has enabled me to get a 75 score once before I got disconnected from the server, I really like that kit too. I think my next kit will be support.
December 18, 200618 yr Welcome iMURD3R3R! Glad to have ya. The "lost connection" error is a known bug, and is supposed to be fixed in the next patch. The Squad Leaders are designated by a circle with a number in it, so there are easy to spot. My advice is to start clicking and right-clicking and experiment to see what every thing does. Have fun!
December 18, 200618 yr a good commander is as good as his troops, a good squad leader is on the ground and knows what his troops need by Requesting things supplies,Emp ... If they dont its up to the commander to Get Er Done.and look at where the battle is going. if some one needs some thing watch your screen for the blinking circle it the person that does ask. remeber if you dont know who ask for what ASK, Commo is the key, the rest is right/left click. People that look at the commander and wonder why he is just standing there probably have never tryed it they dont know you are in a different screen, and are always looking at the big picture,WOOT.
December 18, 200618 yr Welcome glad you enjoy our server make sure you turn off ur firewall anti virus etc.

December 18, 200618 yr Ya as commander I notice that sqaud leaders rarely do more than give attack/defend orders so you really have to figure out where the UAV and EMP and Orbital strikes go yourself. I've managed to do that by being in the middle of the battle myself. I like to get as many points as I can and than win which makes that x2 bonus so much sweeter ... Just keep playin and you will get better. My advice is to get into a sqaud that's lead by an (=A=) member, they treat their sqauds well and KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING! While being commander you'll eventually get the hang of it. Oh and don't drop an orbital strike on a large group of your teamates...even if there is a large group of enemies. You lose alot of points that way ^_-
December 18, 200618 yr hey man welcome to our forums and glad to enjoy playing on our servers. some pointers for ya, you get further within the game when you join squads and communicate, alot of 'noobs' tend to go solo and just go around tking for the fun of it. practice makes perfect, if you don't know how to fly well, tell your passangers if there in your squad that your getting used to it, a little communication goes a long way. in game ask for help, our admins and members will help you if they see your message, if they don't respond it's because they didn't see the message while playing. when on our servers it does tend to get very frustrating and people start cursing in chat, over here this is a no no as we try to enforce players on our server to 'be nice or be gone' and if your see these players Wolfey, Lt.Smash, GIJO3, JC Moncur knife them in the back and type "coochie coochie coo" they'll know I sent ya.
December 18, 200618 yr Author Hey thanks guys. I will have to watch for that blinking circle now. I like the pilum launcher, it is awesome looking too. I thought it was a sniper rifle. It will be a long time before I can get enough unlocks to get it though. So that it is a known bug with that internet connection issue?! I was gonna pull my hair out already! I was trying everything they were saying in the official forums. I'll just wait till it gets fixed now. Do the squad leader unlocks stack? I was noticing that the squad beacon has a x1 by it, the sentry surveillance tool has an x2 by it, and the sentry gun has an x3 by it, what does that mean? Also, when commanding using the overhead map, if I point out an enemy and set him to 'spotted', does it show up on the teams netbat hud system?

December 18, 200618 yr hello and welcome, glad you like the server and hope to see you on the battlefield
December 19, 200618 yr and if your see these players Wolfey, Lt.Smash, GIJO3, JC Moncur knife them in the back and type "coochie coochie coo" they'll know I sent ya. Dont listen to Impact, he is the most hated player. He h4x!!! j/k Welcome to the forums, and glad you enjoy playing on our server. I'll look forward to getting your dog tags. Everyone is very friendly in our clan, well almost everyone, (Impact) is our bad apple j/k Just ask and we will try to help you.
December 19, 200618 yr In your controls, there is a Primary and a Secondary Comm Channel for requests. One channel is for requesting stuff from your squad or nearby team. A request on that channel shows medics and support in your mini map but does NOT set an icon for the commander to Accept or Reject. Squad members cannot do that. Squad leaders can use the other Comm Channel to actually make commander requests that show up on the Command Screen to be Accepted or Rejected. Because the commanding player is a commander and a regular player at the same time, he hears both sets of requests. SL requests, and regular player requests. As a commander, you should ignore the common requests. If you started dropping crates for every person who needed help, the crates would be in unstrategic locations and if you needed a crate for a vehicle, you wouldn't have one to drop. Worry only about SL requests. If supplies become available, let the SL's know over VOIP that way if they need it they can get it.
December 26, 200618 yr Author Well I think I finally have all of the icons down on the commander screen. Sometimes its hard playing on the PAC team though, the game is much easier when squad leaders are barking commands in english. I have another question though. Concerning the area scan drone or the sentry drone squad leader unlocks, if they get destroyed or lost, is there a way to call them back? Is there a way to store them too? I totally dig that area scan drone, it helps me out so much.
December 27, 200618 yr My main concern when I talk to a new player is make sure they get their 3 Fundamental unlocks ASAP. Grenades Better Energy Regen Better Sprint If you already have them, then you can go any route you choose and be well off. Another piece of advice. (I picked this tip up from Gator) I have a mouse with one extra button. I mapped that to my knife for my knifing runs. It sits right under the middle mouse button which I have mapped to weapon 3 (which is the main weapon). This gives me easy access to both switching between my preferred secondary weapon and primary weapon, as well as a quick way to switch fire modes. (some weapons such as the BAUR work way better in single shot mode at longer ranges) If you don't have an extra button on your mouse, it still may not be a bad idea to map your main weapon to the middle mouse button so you can switch to your main weapon quickly if your using something like a medkit. This keeps my left hand free for dodging instead of reaching for a weapon key.
December 27, 200618 yr Author I have both sprints, grenades and the extra clip. I am up one full line in recon along the lambert rifle line and assault with the baur line and the advanced med hub. I have all the squad leader unlocks. I am sergeant major gold right now on my way to petty officer silver I think. Wow, you do nearly the same thing I do with my mouse and having a 'main weapon' button. My buttons are mapped really funny. First of all I sit with my joystick in front of me for flying. My right click is jump, middle wheel button or wheel down are my secondary action, up wheel is rifle. Side button 1 is zoom in, side 2 is zoom out. Space is crouch, caps lock is grenade, Q is knife. I am all over the place lol. G is commo rose, T is tactical rose, left control is command or SL screen, left alt is voice chat, right alt is command chat, etc.... I like it this way though. I really customize it alot, just like I did with counter strike. Heck with that game I played with the mouse in my left hand and the joystick in my right hand. I am really screwed up because I can't play it any other way.
December 27, 200618 yr welcome! i look forward to sniping you and getting your dogtags. (as does everyone in TAC) lol.

Only thing I changed was air for my joystick. I like the setup here because it leaves alot of buttons wide open for modding (Some of the games I've played I've had half the keyboard filled up but WASD has always been up down left and right for me (left strafe/right strafe preferably). I like haveing 1234567890 for weapons because I know where they are mentally and can hit them lightning quick (1 for knife 3 for main weapons 2 for pistol etc...) Good luck bro!
