OK so with all the extra Huricane time I honed my skills in Dayz. The friendly player I met seems to be the exception to the rule here. While being frustrated to gather some good gear only to loose it by being sniped its made me a smarter player. I did have the opportunity to play with a group which was better as they showed me a few tricks in the game like using an axe to beat my zombies instead of the loud bang of a shotgun. Here are some tips Army zombies can climb, as well as a few others. Some zombies have apparition like skills and can walk through closed doors. the best gear is really the simplest, an axe, matches, hunting knife will allow you to kill forest animals and eat them. A canteen is refillable and bandages a re a must. And for those broken limbs a morphine auto injector keeps ya going. By the way you can crawl from balota airstrip to the store in cherno, only to get whacked by a bandit while waiting for your buddy to return with meds. There is Karma however because the same bandit was killed by a zombie right after shooting me, and my buddy recovered all my gear and the bandits. A great resource is http://dayzdb.com it has a great map which I have open on a second screen, only problem is sometimes getting disoriented and going the wrong direction. I'll keep ya updated as I travel!

Played for the first time last night and was lucky enough to run across a fellow that helped me out immensely. Gave me a couple guns, some food and water and showed me where to find supplies. Fist impressions were great! Its not the prettiest FPS out but didn't look bad. The zombies are quite odd ranging from crawlers hoppers and runners. Having a team would be better as I am now out of ammo and having to stealthily work my way towards a store in the center of town infested with zombies. The in game VOIP works pretty good and is positional as if your right there chatting but if you move away from a team mate you lose direct voice after 40 meters or so. I lost track of my team mate and was thinking crap now what. fortunately for me he saw the direction I was running and tracked me down. It was a good thing too as I had been mauled and needed blood. The game had me seeing black and white with blurred vision even passing out without the ability to talk until I gained consciousnesses. A quick transfusion from a bag of blood he had and I was right as rain. Equipment is persistent across the servers as well as location. Some pointers that he gave me were to look for low populated servers and head north to the airfield to find good military gear. The reason for low population servers is that you find more loot and dont have to worry so much about bandits, So if your in game and you see a player named Zombie make sure you salute using your back slash key to signal your a friendly and say hi.
  13. Anyone playing this mod http://dayzmod.com/ A buddy of mine mentioned his son was playing then I happened across an article that mentioned the MOD as well. Looked pretty good so I'm going to grab the Arma 2 bundle on steam and see how it is. Best description I have seen is an FPS MMO based in a Walking Dead type world. You have to find scavenge all your goods and avoid other looters and zombies. If anyone is interested in playing let me know we can arrange a time to get in game and work as a team or squad.

thats pretty sweet So as players in space battle you can actually be on planet skirmishing thats awesome. I'll look more in to dust 514. Are you in the Beta now?
  15. TomC replied to TomC's topic in Main Hall
Whats Dust 514? Edigio its still a monthly but if you make enough in game isk it can be converted to monthly Time. Apoc let me know if you get back in. I'm doing a Caldari character and have applied with eve university corp. There is some kind of anniversary special going on that you get to claim some in game stuff so I chose a bunch of ships. I'm rolling in a destroyer and so far the lvl 1 missions are hilarious the rats just bounce of the ship like nats hardly doing any damage. they swarm in for attack and as fast as I can lock a missile they're done!

yep but one of the cooler aspects of the game is you can pay for your time with in game cash. It might take a few months till your generating that kind of income but once you do you can essentially play for free.

anyone in this game? I picked it up on the cheap from steam and have been playing for about two weeks. Not as flashy as say the newer MMOs but still seems fun and I believe its one of the oldest out there. Let me know if any one plays I would love to group up with some Armory buds in space

I think thats what makes a sever good is when the admins keep the super high scoring folks down. Hey if they are just that good no hacks then they need to be in a higher level server.
