  5. Its actually not a bad game if you had played Operation Flashpoint in the past. The game's biggest problem is in its Netcode for multiplay, there is alot of jerkiness and warpy movement when online. As far as the single player campaign and multiplay goes, This is a simulation guys, not an arcade shootem up like BF2 and Bf2042 are. So if you're expecting a bunch of bouncy rambo bs and fast action, this isn't your game. The way it plays out is more of a tactical shooter, and you will be guaranteed to see alot more camping than you will assaulting. As far as graphics go, its decent enough for todays games, just nothing too fancy such as Normal mapped textures and amazing textures, its very plain in this respect, but fancy graphics weren't the goal of this simulation.
  6. By the time they fix the game well enough for ppl to stop *****ing and actually begin to enjoy the game, it will be time for EA to Hoover up another nice profit eating game that sucks worse than BF2 ever did. Bf2 hasn't been a fun game since the demo was released sad to say.

  12. I've been playing alot of FA lately since I see alot of ppl are still filling up a few servers. Nothing too fancy, but I converted almost all of the weapon sounds for use in Firearms and put it together in a zip for anyone interested.. Extract the .zip into your Halflife/firearms/sounds/weapons folder to replace the default sounds. http://mrd.str8-6.com/files/FA-bf2sounds.zip

This is depressing, I got to play some really good games today in FA.. and between some dropped connections (steamed) and 1 or 2 crashes, I had way more fun playing FA than anytime I can remember in Bf2... It loads liek 20x faster, plays better, I get better fps, and have alot more fun. Bf2 for me, is just an orgy of unfortunate events that lead to one team being the victor. its way buggier, has like 50,000 more whiny ppl(yes I know its a lot more popular than FA ever was), and just seems to instigate a crowd of l337 punks pissed about anyone stealing a microscopic gain to their own greedy ranks. At least in Fa, kills and per map ranks meant something. I dunno guys, I really miss the days of stompin the FA servers and playing with all u guys, and I still think FA for what its worth is still the better game.
  14. btw Gator, the server was completely full last night for about 2 hours. Oberland and another bad map killed off the crowd. If you would be so kind as to setup a favorites maplist, it would really be appreciated by anyone that still comes to play. MY suggestion would be, Durandal, sandblast, sand, river, Upham, Iwo, Bashrah, Force, Marie, coldwar, Caen, Bocage, Golan, Balcome, Ps_desertCrisis. 1 more Special Favorite, would take some searching, but PS_Swamp is also a great old map. Leaving out the other maps would be a good idea, as they were often hated (oberland, splinter, willow) and often times would make players leave the server at the idea of even playing them.
  15. For me its hard to get excited about any EA announcments, when they can't even get the products they have out "RIGHT NOW" working.
  16. Don't press Prone to get up from prone, use crouch as its quicker and you can spam crouch and prone to change your stances on the move ^^ Stuttering, bah.

  18. There is a rumor going around that its an ATI specific problem, and untill EA releases 1.21, you're likely going to need something else to play in the meantime. You can waste your time installing and piddlying around with drivers and whatnot, but I doubt that will do any good. Check the EA bf2 forums, there is also mention of a fix available for it.
  19. yeah, afterall it is very fair to have *[players] that will run over a teamates mines just for the joys of watching them get auto-kicked. Also a funny thing to switch to that Sniper team that's been nailing you from his perch, just to switch teams and pop his clays to kick him.. Very fair indeed. Especially since you can easily avoid them, even moreso if you're under fire or just hauling ass to get behind enemy lines.. *Edit, not the greatest of words Mister. -SS6
  20. F-2000 if you like nades... I didn't find it particularly usefull as a range rifle, although it is decent at closer ranges. THe Mp7 on the other hand seemed to be the ultimate range wh0re gun, I burst 3 rounds a piece on 5 guys and knocked them all down from across the bridge on Strike of Karkand.

  22. The only time that this Prone jumping will help a player is if he's being sniped, or if you're shooting him at longer ranges. I usually don't have any problem shooting a ******* that does this cute little dance of lame, I've even knifed a couple of "1337 Bad*****es" while they were doing it. I just say "keep jumping, it makes you an easier target" after I kill them and sometimes it works and they actually stop doing it, and sometimes they babble some Nonesence and keep thinking they're cool. Don't count on EA or Dice ever doing anything about this, Bf1942 and DC and I would presume BF:V allowed you to do exactly the same thing. In Bf1942 and DC when you saw a person doing it, they actually did make themselves a bigger target, the hitboxes for being prone in 1942 and DC didn't switch untill the player had been prone for about .5 seconds, and when you do this prone jump bouncy bs, it never has time to switch into the Prone Hitbox, it keeps calculating that the player is still standing, does this explain why you would be able to be shot while you were proning behind a sandbag or a window, yuppers. What blows my mind about the whole thing is this, they actuall went through the trouble of making a block for sprinting that doesn't allow you to sprint untill you've built up about 15% of your stamina back up, but they didn't add jumping or changing stances a factor in that stamina. Jumping burns stamina the same as sprinting, but you can continue to jump as many times as you want once you're stamina is gone = BIG MISTAKE. Its likely to be one of those long standing bugs that nobody seems to care about or notices, untill a large group of people complain and explain to them that this is an exploit of the game and needs fixing. I look at it like this, How long has Strafing into a wall (Wall Sprinting - HL & HL2), or Crouch Bouncing (tapping crouch fast so that your player model bounces off the ground) been an issue for the Halflife mods and games? Forever, untill the Mod teams (DOD 2.1 & DOD-S, and FA 2.8 when Mazor fixed crouch bounce) actually did something about it to dissallow it and write the code to fix this problem. The people that made the game need to know the problem exists, and have enough people complain about it to make it a worthy problem of being fixed. Maybe you guys should stop bitching here, and post a Petition in the EA or BF2 forums, where it would actually make a difference.
  23. I have mixed feelings about how DOD:S turned out. It does look amazing in HDR, and the quality of work is outstanding for all of the visual aspects to the game.. The only 2 beefs I have against DOD:S are these. #1. The subguns are messed up pretty bad, their accuracy is horrible, and their rates of fire are jacked up so that they're mini famas's, just spray machines more than anything else, and thats not how they were in DOD-1. #2. Player movement seems bjorked, players can strafe and move alot faster in DOD-S than old dod, and maybe even faster than you can move around in HL2DM, or cs. Players seem to appear out of nowhere, and zigzaging is horrendous. Its also hard to line a shot up on anything thats not standing still, because of the way that the players move. There is no acceleration/deceleration to the movement, making it jerky and like everyone is lagging. Besides those 2 things, I was overly impressed with the game and the new features that have changed since DOD-1, and the maps are amazing now since being totally reworked and made into familiar yet updated and still play out as well if not better than they did for DOD-1. I don't mind paying the $20 dollars for it, as long as they are willing and able to update the game to adress the issues that come up. I honestly can't wait to see the FG-42 and the G-43 come back into the game. Concidering how hard it was to get into any of the (1500?) servers that went up moments after the release, even late into today. I think valve just made a buttload of $$$ to pay the DOD guys to keep it going for a while.
