  1. My team that has been developing the Realism mod for DC 0.7 have finally completed [DCR 0.793]. Alot has been changed since our initial release tested at TA with much appreciation to [TAC]Gator for his support for hosting one of the first servers for us to publicly test and use for a short time, when I took over Tanelorn's realism mod project. I wanted to come here first to announce that it has been finished and updated and would like to invite all DC fans to check out the mod. It is necessary to read up the readme and FAQ to understand the basis of the mod and how it is so much different not only in approach to Desert Combat, but also how it is nearly a completely different game. The focus of DCR was to transform a Arcade style 1man army feel that DC tends to be, and move it more towards true life realistic vehicle and infantry balences and changes. Once you play DCR 0.793 you will notice that there is a completely different feel to how the maps and gameplay leans even more towards efficient teamwork and skill. We will very shortly be releasing a Unique mappack designed specifically for DCR in an attempt to bring some of the real-life battlegrounds of the actual Gulf War into the campaign. This mod is completely different from any BF1942mod, but requires DesertCombat 0.7 installed. Our mod will in no way effect your DC install nor will it permanently change the origional install in any way shape or form, it is simply a MOD of a MOD, and uses DC 0.7 as a backbone for resources. So you can play a Game of DCR, and switch to playing at a regular DC server without having to change anything, as it is installed as a seperate mod.

  3. Mac, can you go into more detail as to why the stats would be effected by the updates of CD?? Basically I just wanted you people to speak out, mostly because this is one of the few servers left that is popular and fun to play at, it would be a shame to see FA in its last days reduced to nothing but cheaters running rampant.. Maybe CD is a hassle, steam isn't updating constantly... more like 1-2 times a month, and its a Guaranteed sure thing when it comes to being the best anti-cheat method for HL available with the fewest resources used server side PERIOD. HL-guard is outdated and nearly useless, I would prefer to see either Cheating-Death required or nothing used at all than see HLguard being used and occupying any resources that could be freed up to improve gameplay.

Guys first off I would like to say how happy I am to see that your server is still up and almost always full and running fairly smooth.I have come here today to ask the players opinion about 1 thing that I believe is hurting players and may be causing trouble in the TA server.That reason is HL-Guard, it is not a very good anti-cheat and has been proven beatable by many many cheats and you guys have already had 5 cheaters show up in the last 3 weeks. Tac-Godcow, Frost, myself and a few other guys that are always on the ball to watchout for foul play have been doing a good job at picking them out and making demos if possible.I can't remember you guys ever having trouble with seeing any cheaters of anykind (yes some players are better than others, thats not cheating), and would like to suggest that you Get rid of HL-guard and Reinstate the use of Cheating-Death.The CD team has been very fast and responsible to update their software within 1-2 days when Steam comes out with a new update, I agree that it can probably be a pain in the ass to have to enable it, and disable it when a steam update comes out.But, the Bottom line is that CD is the most effective anti-cheat tool there is available, and it has been proven as such time and time again.And for the love of god, please remove Ps_cleanout from the map cycle. Its the most boring map ever and has the worst bugs (cough TANK!!!) that I've ever seen in a FA map.I want to run a poll for players that would prefer CD over HL-guard.

  7. Well I guess if you're feeling really creative than you can actually model in the crosshair in the v_knife.mdl :/Still would be cheating concidering that mazor took the time to ahrdcode the crosshairs out.

  10. Mazor was nice enough to code out the crosshairs for knifes and sniper rifles and frags in 2.9.The knife crosshairs and others that are not soposed to be in the game are now effectively locked out.

Gator was kind enough to run it for a day or two last time we had it put together.Simply put it is about 90% to where we want it to be, I have Sid helping me get some nice new models for the extra weapons we have in there.When Sid gets the models worked on for us, our mod will be complete.We have had a group of guys that own and operate the Lake Area Gamers servers (LAG) run two dedicated servers for the last few days, and I am unsure if there are any servers currently up and running this mod.There is no single player support with Bots simply because the bf1942 AI are idiots and can't controll the vehicles like they should, so check it out by starting your own local server and test out the units and eqipment.have fun
  12. My brother (Tanelorn) and I have finished the official release version of our Realism Mod project for DesertCombat. Please check out the website and go through the readme and FAQ for a full list of changes included into this MINI-MOD. I am taking over the project with permission from Tanelorn and I will be responsible for any future changes and releases of this mod from here on. We are very proud of how it turned out, as this is an attempt to bring more realistic combat to the already popular mod Desert Combat. We have a Website up and running, it has a download link, Forums, and release information in a readme and FAQ. I hope you will have as much fun playing this as we have had in developing it.   15. I'd like to see supersixfour on, but what I would really really like to see is some of those old 2.5 maps redone or finished so that they are nicer and with less exploits. Most of the 2.5 maps that are not spam tunnel maps and corner camp maps are really nice, but need some work done on them so that they are more playable on the FA 2.8/2.9 format.
  16. Hey don't get all hot and bothered about the crosshairs not working or what-not, they were made way back in 2.7 before I joined Clan CIA. So if you're getting the old set of my crosshairs, they probably don't work correctly with 2.8 and they are -CAL- Illegal since the older set did have crosshairs for sniper-unscoped, knife, frags, steils, concussions, and clays. I have made a very nice set that is CAL legal for 2.8 but I don't have a way to host them untill the FA forums are back up or if sombody can tell me the correct way upload the .zip to the armory.

  21. Gator will be hosting the realism mod for DC, read the main sticky at the top of this Forum section for details on how to participate. The server will be switched over to the realism mod starting at Noon and run as long as people show up and support it. Once the players dwindle down, Gator said he will be switching the server back over to regular DC. So please show your support by showing up and trying it out with all of us. My brother "Tanelorn" has posted that Gator and TA will be hosting his mod at the Official DC Forums.   22. MY brother and I designed this Mod to be a realistic alternative to regular DC. My brother is one of the head coders and is the main sound man for the DC team, we worked over the past month and a half to make everything about the vehicles and weapons and physics of all units in Dc to function like their real life counterparts. There are many added features to this mod as oposed to regular DC. in DC there are only 6 classes per team, this mod allows for up to 21 different classes via Spawn packs/kits. This mod also focuses alot more on teamwork skills, for instance an apache needs a pilot which gets control of FFAR's or anti-AA flares, the nose gunenr gets control of the cannon and the hellfires. We have divided the classes so jsut about everyone gets a rifle + 1 main weapon. AT soldier gets only the AT4 or the Smaw depending on the pack, as well as his rifle and any other accessories that would normally be issued to an AT infantry, as it would be in real life. Changes like this are necessary for diversity and the element of TEAMWORK. It has full COOPerative support, so please get used to this by starting your own single player game and testing out all the new equipment so you can be ready for this Saturday when Gator puts the server up.
