Battlefield Blog: The Easter Eggs of Battlefield
The thrill of finding a well-hidden Easter egg in the nooks and crannies of a video game is a true enjoyment. Ever since Battlefield 1942, the Battlefield games have all been filled with secret messages, mysterious sounds, and prehistoric animals – and the fans of Battlefield have been incredible in finding them. Read on to learn some of the most classic ones. In this part of Battlefield 3 Aftermath, as documented by pvkiller777, someone seems to have left part of their wardrobe lying around. We have a feeling we will see more of this forgetful individual soon. In Battlefield 3 End Game, a very special family of three could be found. Check out this video from Westie: Lying about the size of caught fish is, as you know, sadly common. Battlefield veteran JackFrags and his friends were however not lying when they told us about this mighty catch: Sometimes you have to look on things from a different perspective to find what you’re looking for. Back in Battlefield 2, you could see something unique if you just took to the skies. Weltaz wonders who put those circles there… The Battlefield is not only for all-out war, explosions, and crazy vehicle stunts – there should be room for more relaxing activities too. Look what lFlapjackl found in the sand: There are of course many more Easter egg finding that have been reported (and perhaps more that you haven’t found yet…) but we won’t spoil the hunt for you. DICE would like to wish you all a happy Easter, and of course urge you all this: never stop looking. View the full article

Battlefield Blog: “Battlefield Moment Competition Winner
A while back, we asked you to submit your best Battlefield moment, with the promise of an exclusive Battlefield 4 art print from Cook & Becker awarded to the best submission. We’ve received tons of inspiring stories and it’s been a true pleasure to read about your experiences on the Battlefield. After a challenging judging process, we have now decided on a winner. “Berdu“, a BF4 fan from Finland who enjoys blowing stuff up and making Battlefield 4 videos, sent us his description of a China Rising session, that caught our eyes. Without further ado, here is the winning submission: While still deafened and defeated by the explosion, my brain rewinds the chain of events. The crashing jet brings the building down. The untrained pilot’s parachute casts a shadow. Through the smoke and debris appears a motorbike, carrying two. I couldn’t see it, but I knew the driver grinned like the devil himself. I try to pull up. The bike bounces off the debris, launches towards me, making its final stand. The passenger squeezes the C4 trigger. My chopper and the crew of four… are no more. “The story was inspired by events on a China Rising map”, Berdu tells us. “A reckless C4 patrol used the surrounding chaos to bring down my squad. It’s my Battlefield experience in a nutshell; the game is at its best when you embrace the uncontrolled chaos and allow it to take over. Immersion at its finest.†http://blogscdn.battlefield.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/Framed2.jpgArt prints available at Cook & Becker, who also has many other prints with artwork from DICE games. For sharing his Battlefield moment with us, Berdu will be awarded the Cook & Becker art print Aircraft Carrier in Naval Battle, hand-numbered and signed by the DICE art team. Join us all in congratulating Berdu, and thanks again for all your thrilling stories! View the full article

Battlefield Blog: Introducing Battlefield 4 Loadout Presets
Going into battle prepared is key to succeeding in Battlefield 4. With the new Loadout Presets, we’ve made it easier for you to quickly hit the Battlefield with the exact kit and vehicle Loadout of your choice. Prepared 4 Battle – Every TimeLoadout Presets are a way to save kit or vehicle setups so that you can easily switch between them when going into a Battlefield 4 multiplayer match. With this time-saving feature, you no longer have to edit each slot individually in the Customize screen when you want to change your Loadout. Note that Loadout Presets will only be available on Battlelog in Battlefield 4, and not be reflected in-game. You apply Presets to your Loadout, which then follows you in-game when you save it. For example, those who want quick access to a “field engineer†Preset can create one of these with the MX4, SRAW, Repair Tool, and Mechanic specialization – or any other combination of the player’s choice. If you are more of a combat engineer, you might want to create a preset with the M1014 shotgun, RPG, M2 SLAM, and Offensive specialization – it’s all up to you. http://blogscdn.battlefield.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/1-640x442.pngYou can have two presets per kit and vehicle, or four if you’re a Battlefield 4 Premium member. This allows you to quickly switch between setups based off the map or game mode you’re loading into without wasting time going through the Customize screens in-game. Creating and Managing Loadout PresetsYour Loadout Presets can be accessed through Battlelog as well as its mobile and tablet applications. Simply head to the Loadout section on Battlelog, and hit the Presets button that appears upon hovering over a kit or vehicle. Here you’ll be able to choose to save your existing kit/vehicle Loadout as a new Preset, or load an existing Preset. Additionally, Presets are accessible from a kit or vehicle page, next to the “Save†and “Reset†buttons You can have 2 Presets per kit and vehicle (or 4 if you’re a Premium user). The Preset you last chose will stay until you apply a new Preset or change your Loadout from Battlelog or in-game and will display the Preset name in the place of the kit or vehicle name. This allows you to quickly switch between setups based off the map or game mode you’re loading into, without wasting time going through the Customize screens in-game. Creating and Managing Loadout PresetsYour Loadout Presets can be accessed through Battlelog and its mobile and tablet applications. Simply head to the Loadout menu on Battlelog, and hit the Presets button. Here you’ll be able to choose slots for your presets, and give them names. To apply a preset, simply click a dropdown menu and select a used slot to apply that preset. You can have 2 presets per kit and vehicle (or 4 if you’re a Premium user). The preset you last chose will stay until you apply a new preset, or change your loadout from Battlelog or in-game. http://blogscdn.battlefield.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/2-BL.pngLoadouts are available on Battlelog as well as on the mobile and tablet applications. If you head to the Presets Management page, accessible by clicking “Manage†from the Presets dropdown, you’ll get an overview of all the Presets you have created. Here, you can browse through your Presets, delete them, or apply a bunch of them before you save your Loadout. Rolling out on April 8The Loadout Presets are rolling out with the Battlelog update on April 8. We will continue to tweak and add functions to the feature, based on your feedback and comments. Don’t hesitate to tell us what you think about the Loadout Presets, and we hope you will enjoy going into battle using the feature! View the full article

Now, you can enjoy an updated version of the Commander App for Android and iOS, with many tweaks and improvements based on your feedback. Since its release three months ago, we have listened to your feedback for the Commander App on the various Battlefield 4 forums. We are very thankful for all your comments and ideas, and many of them have been worked into the latest version of the Commander App. http://blogscdn.battlefield.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/commander_2-0-0-mindre.jpg Haven’t downloaded the Commander App yet? Hit the links below! Commander App for Android Commander App for iOS So without further ado, here are the major updates that we’ve brought to the new version of the Commander App, all designed to help you become the greatest Commander you can be: • Squad Member Visibility: You will now be able to see the player names and kits of players in a squad when it is selected • VOIP visibility: You will now be able to tell which player in a squad is talking to you through VOIP • Issuing orders to a squad now shows the position of all squad members while you are dragging out the order • You can now drop squad assets (such as promotions) directly on the squad list • If you have an XP boost active, the scoring for this will now be more visible in the UI • Lots of bug fixes and stability improvements If you want to dig down even deeper in the changes, head to the Battlelog Forum for an in-depth change log. http://blogscdn.battlefield.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/commander-kyl-done.jpgThe Commander App lets you take command – from wherever you might be. Answers to Common QuestionsYou can find answers to some of the most frequently asked questions below. I you have a question you can’t find below, don’t hesitate to ask us in the comments. On which tablets can I use the Commander App? For iOS, Commander works on iPad 2 and up, as well as iPad Mini, on tablets running iOS 6.1 and up. For Android, we have set the following minimum specs: Screen sizes 7†and up 1 GHZ dual core 1024 MB ram 1024×600 resolution Android 4.0.3 or newer Access to the Google Play store I play Battlefield 4 on Xbox 360 or Playstation 3. Can I still play Commander on tablet? Absolutely! The Commander App works with any platform you can run Battlefield 4 on. How do I select a specific server to join? You can select specific servers to join through the Battlelog App. (So this requries another app? Can this be done through Battlelog on browser too?) Simply go into Multiplayer, select a server, and join using the “Commander†button. This will automatically launch the Commander app and join the server. How can I use VOIP to talk to the members on my team? Select the squad you want to talk to, then press and hold the VOIP button on the bottom right to talk to the squad. We recommend using a headset for the best VOIP experience. VOIP is currently supported on PC and Playstation 4. What about VOIP on XBOX One? This will hopefully arrive very soon. As a PC player, can I see team chat? Yes! You will be able to see all chat, team chat and the selected squad’s chat. Does the Commander App work over both 3G and WiFi? Yes. Can I play as a Commander on my tablet while playing as a soldier on my console/PC? We want players to be fully committed when playing, you will only be able to be logged in on either the tablet or system of choice. I own Battlefield 4 on two or more systems, how do I choose which one to connect to on my tablet? When you first login, you will be prompted to choose one of your active soldiers. After that, you can easily switch between them in the Settings menu. Will you release the Commander App for mobile phones or windows tablets? Currently we have no such plans. View the full article

Battlefield Blog: Take the Fight to the Sea with Battlefield 4 Naval Strike
On March 25, Battlefield 4 Premium members on consoles will be able to experience the ultimate sea-to-sea warfare in the third expansion pack for Battlefield 4. Battlefield 4 Naval Strike takes the intense and dramatic water-based combat introduced in Battlefield 4 to four all-new maps set in the South China Sea while introducing a new game mode and vehicle. However, we are delaying the launch of Battlefield 4 Naval Strike on PC. We’ve detected an issue and it needs to be solved. Quality is our number one priority and we will not release Battlefield 4 Naval Strike on PC until we feel it meets the highest quality level possible. Once we have a confirmed date for PC, we’ll be sure to update those players on our official channels. We appreciate your patience and look forward to seeing everyone on the Battlefield. http://blogscdn.battlefield.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/XP2_003_logo-640x360.jpg Four all-new maps: • Lost Islands: Blow open a crashed passenger plane and capture fishing villages across these tropical islands. • Wave Breaker: Drop a submarine on your foes as you infiltrate a naval base or rush between shipping docks and rocky islands on this massive map. • Nansha Strike: Wage war across stormy seas in the largest ocean stretch in a Battlefield map yet. • Operation Mortar: Storm an abandoned cliff-side resort, or get lost in the breathtaking vistas in this map. Battlefield 4 Naval Strike also lets you re-live the classic Titan Mode of Battlefield 2142, with the new Carrier Assault game mode. Your objective is to destroy the enemy team’s carrier before they infiltrate and destroy yours. You start out fighting a big-scale war with sea, land, and air vehicles controlling the map, and then everything evolves into an infantry-focused, close quarter fight inside both carriers at the same time! Lean more about Carrier Assault in this blog post on Battlefield.com. http://blogscdn.battlefield.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/Battlefield-4-Naval-Strike-Carrier-Assault_WM1-640x360.png Water-based combat has always been a vital part of the all-out war in Battlefield, and with the introduction of the amphibious hovercraft vehicle, your possibilities to dominate the sea will be even greater. Battlefield Blog: Battlefield 4 Naval Strike: All Four Maps Detailed
Four all-new maps focused on intense naval warfare await you in Battlefield 4 Naval Strike. To give you a detailed tour of these wet and wild vistas, we hand over to lead gameplay designer Gustav Halling. The four all-new maps in Battlefield 4 Naval Strike were designed with a simple premise in mind: to expand on what players loved with the naval warfare from Battlefield 4. It’s our hope you’ll enjoy the new maps immensely, whether you’re trying out the new Carrier Assault mode or piloting the new Hovercraft. Naturally, we have also crafted the surroundings with infantry and non-naval vehicles in mind. So without further ado, let’s go through the four maps of Naval Strike. http://blogscdn.battlefield.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/XP2_001_logo640.jpg Lost IslandsStarting with Lost Islands, this map focuses around a crashed airplane located near the center of the map. The map itself contains several small islands surrounding the crash site that can be traversed using quad bikes around the whole map, or by using boats (including the new hovercraft) to take shortcuts across it. The key to master this map is to control the plane at the crash site, which can be blown open to give infantry some much needed cover. Another special area of this map is the cave blanketed by a waterfall, as it provides visual cover for patrolling boats and helicopters. http://blogscdn.battlefield.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/XP2_002_logo640.jpg Nansha Strike Nansha Strike is a very boat heavy map with several bases spread out in the water to battle it out on, while at the same time allowing total infantry control of the middle areas. The central area provides a lot of cover for infantry and is a death trap for water vehicles if they try to enter it via the small rivers. The surrounding bases can be captured from the water, with some offering big bases in the middle of the sea for infantry. This is where the more powerful vehicles spawn, which makes them key to own and control. http://blogscdn.battlefield.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/XP2_003_logo640.jpg Wave Breaker Wave Breaker has a unique submarine base hidden in the middle mountain which allows for tight close quarter combat, but it also has wide canals where it’s possible to do drive-bys with the attack boats to add extra mayhem to the mix. The middle area has many different Levolution possibilities. You can for instance bring down a submarine from its support and turn off the lights in the surrounding corridors. It’s also possible to stop boats from entering the area by closing the four flood gates and blocking the direct path from the bases on the two sides. The middle island will give players intense fights in Deathmatch modes. http://blogscdn.battlefield.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/XP2_004_logo-640.jpg Operation Mortar Operation Mortar is our vacation paradise turned into a war zone, with wooden huts surrounding the islands. There is an old fort on the top of the mountain, which provides a great overview over the whole map. It also gives the team owning it a fast way to capture the other bases on the main island. In Rush, this levels starts from the bottom of the islands and goes up towards the fort, providing interesting and fun vertical gameplay which will provide a big challenge for attackers.
