BF4 Server.
I like the idea but here is my issue. We had a server for the last month and hardly any one wanted to take time to fill it and play in it. I miss having 33 maps to play but with BF1, most maps take around 25 minutes to play and they have 10. I do not have a repeat in one sitting. If there were more interest then I am all for it but it seems like the players that still have and are playing BF4 do not want to take the time to get it going. I know it is a pain but that is what it takes to have a server. If we won't play in it then no one will and that has been proven time and time again. No one used it hardly at all the last couple of months we had it running. There for a while we even had a mixed mode server that members said they wanted. Same issue, no one wanted to get it going or use it.

I don't think BF1 will be. I do think it is going to happen in future titles. To me it is looking like EA is starting to really push this for the future.

Windows 10
You know I did say that BF1 is almost set up for console and PC to play together. Just wait, the next BF title you will need windows 10 or better to play it. It's not about quality games anymore.

Hell Yeah!
Yeah that has been out for several years. It was not suppose to be a free to play but they lost the lawsuit to MACROSS so it was the only way to get it out to the public. There use to be a bunch of the EBDA guys that played it.

GAMES Battlefield 1 Experiences Server Issues As Player Pool Rises?
No one can argue that Battlefield 1 is among the greatest games this year has ever offered. Since its official release, the title's player pool has drastically increased. Apparently though, this might have been the root cause of the servers' struggle to stabilize in the recent days. A good number of players are reportedly unable to access the game's various multiplayer services. According to Express, the servers of EA's latest title is experiencing downfall. This is possibly due to many players trying to access the game. Unfortunately, it prevented other people from logging into the likes of Domination or Conquest. Heck, some fans are even reporting that they've lost their characters' progress. The studio, however, has yet to confirm or even shed some light on the ongoing Battlefield 1 issue. The company's Twitter page, in particular, haven't given any word. Hence it remains a mystery as to why the servers are experiencing such case. The problem is said to be affecting players who are using either PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. The first reports of the incident came to surface around 7 AM in UK's time. In such cases, the most known cause is a dramatic spike in terms of a game's player pool. This might also be the main reason why EA's servers have become a little bit unstable. After all, there was a huge boost of player quantity as soon as the Christmas season arrived. It's worth noting that during this period, various sales and discounts were offered. But until the video game company clarifies anything, the Battlefield 1 community won't know exactly the actual cause. Aside from knowing the culprit, it may also be hard to determine when the outage will last. Hopefully, it gets fixed as soon as possible. Besides, issues like these aren't permanent, though they'll take a good amount of time when it comes to fixing.

Iconic Star Wars Actress Carrie Fisher Dies at 60
Carrie Fisher, the actress best known as Star Wars‘ Princess Leia Organa, has died after suffering a heart attack. She was 60. Family spokesman Simon Halls released a statement on behalf of Fisher’s daughter, Billie Lourd: “It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning,” reads the statement. “She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.” Fisher was flying from London to Los Angeles on Friday, Dec. 23, when she went into cardiac arrest. Paramedics removed her from the flight and rushed her to a nearby hospital, where she was treated for a heart attack. She later died in the hospital. The daughter of showbiz veteran Debbie Reynolds and entertainer Eddie Fisher, Fisher was brought up in the sometimes tumultuous world of film, theatre and television. Escaping Hollywood in 1973, the star enrolled in the Central School of Speech and Drama in London, where she spent over a year studying acting. Just two years later, though, the bright lights of Hollywood drew her back, and Fisher made her film debut in the Warren Beatty-lead Shampoo. Her role in Star Wars would follow in 1977 – the experience she recently detailed in memoir, The Princess Diarist. She was only 19 when the first installment of the beloved sci-fi franchise was filmed. In addition to the second and third Star Wars films – and last year’s The Force Awakens – Fisher starred in 1980’s The Blues Brothers, The Man with One Red Shoe, Woody Allen’s Hannah and Her Sisters in 1986 and, later, When Harry Met Sally. Fisher wed musician Paul Simon in 1983. It was an explosive marriage, according to Homeward Bound: The Life of Paul Simon author Peter Ames Carlin, and was cut short by swinging stages of depression, the actresses’ drug use and an array of personal insecurities. The relationship continued, though, on-and-off for several years after the pair divorced in 1984. The star’s substance abuse problem was well-known, starting at only age 13 when she first started smoking marijuana, Fisher previously told The Telegraph. She said she later dabbled in drugs like cocaine and LSD. Fisher’s addiction was largely profiled in her 1987 best-selling, semi-autobiographical novel, Postcards from the Edge, which was later turned into a movie starring Meryl Streep. “I never could take alcohol. I always said I was allergic to alcohol, and that’s actually a definition to alcoholism — an allergy of the body and an obsession of the mind,” Fisher told the Herald-Tribune in 2013. “So I didn’t do other kinds of drugs until I was about 20. Then, by the time I was 21 it was LSD. I didn’t love cocaine, but I wanted to feel any way other than the way I did, so I’d do anything.” In 1985, Fisher was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, she told the Herald-Tribune, and subsequently became an outspoken advocate for mental health awareness. Throughout much of the ’90s, Fisher focused on her writing career, publishing Surrender the Pink and Delusions of Grandma. In addition, Fisher reportedly helped craft the scripts for numerous Hollywood films, going uncredited, for films like The Wedding Singer, Hook and Sister Act. Billie Lourd, Fisher’s only child, was born in July 1992. The Scream Queens star’s father, talent agent Bryan Lourd, dated Fisher for three years and is now married to Bruce Bozzi. In 2005, Fisher was recognized with the Women of Vision Award by the Women in Film & Video – DC. Three years later, Fisher’s Wishful Drinking autobiography was turned into a one-woman stage show and eventually an HBO documentary. Of returning to the role that launched her career – Leia – for The Force Awakens, Fisher told PEOPLE in 2015, “I knew that something enormous was likely going to impact my life from this film and that there was absolutely no way of understanding what that was or was likely to be.” The film – which brought Fisher back into the spotlight – earned her a nomination for the 2016 Saturn Award for best supporting actress. Just last month, Fisher also revealed her surprising on-set affair with Star Wars costar Harrison Ford in The Princess Diarist, telling PEOPLE of the three-month fling, “It was so intense.” The memoir, which drew from Fisher’s old diaries and notebooks, brought up mixed feelings for the actress. “I had forgotten that I’d written them, and I’ve never written diaries sort of like that,” she said. “I write when I’m upset … it was about two or three months of upset.” Fisher added, “It was sad because I was so insecure, and it’s very raw and obviously I didn’t expect anyone — including myself, I suppose later on — to read it.” She is survived by her mom Reynolds, daughter Lourd and beloved French bulldog, Gary. http://people.com/movies/carrie-fisher-dies/

An Update on the Rent a Server feature
Just tested out HARDCORE and there have been a couple noticeable changes. You now have a red dot for mortars so you know where they will drop Doritos (names) over friendly players now pop up a little bit sooner and cover a little bit wider field of view. I know those were 2 things I felt needed changed. There are probably more things but I only play a couple of classes for the most part. Let me know if you see any others.

An Update on the Rent a Server feature
Sometime ago, he mentioned 6 player start. There is nothing specific in there. What he is trying to do I believe is give us some info but staying within the DICE legal None Disclosure Agreement which was being over used. I heard January 17th as the next possible update. We know march is the next DLC schedule. That should be March 14th so we will see. It beats the hell out of "SOON". Based on what Ali says, I would expect the latter date and not the earlier date.

An Update on the Rent a Server feature
Hi all, Now that the latest Battlefield 1 Game Update 121316 has been released, let’s look forward on what’s on our agenda for future updates. One of the key areas of focus for us has been the Rent-a-Server feature (RSP). We’re glad to inform you that we are kicking development into high-gear and hope to deliver a variety of requested functions to the feature. Additionally, we look to improve the overall flows on how to find and populate a rented server, and add some more settings for the admin to play with. Below you will find a brief summary of the functions we are looking to implement in future updates. Please note that this is not a list of guaranteed features. Rather, this is a list of functionality we are investigating and/or developing. Admin Control Panel A separate screen you can reach from inside the game where you will find functions such as Kick/Ban along with Ban and VIP lists. Kick/Ban You will be able to see a list of all current players on the servers and either kick or ban them. Once banned they will be stored in the Ban List. From there you can unban them or just view the list of all currently banned players. Ban & VIP Lists Here, you will be be able to view and edit the Ban & VIP List. The VIP List is a list of players that will have queue priority (even higher priority than Premium Pass owners). For instance, if you have a clan and the clan members contribute to the server cost, you can add them in the VIP List and they will put into the highest priority queue. Password Protected Servers We are looking to re-introduce this setting for Battlefield 1 rented servers that admins want to secure with a password. Setting a password will make the server run "Unranked", so players who join won’t receive any experience, gain medals, or progression of any kind, but they will have all equipment unlocked while playing on that server. New Settings Here is a list of some of the new server settings we are looking to implement in future updates: · Squad Leader Spawn Only A popular setting from previous titles. We are looking to add this in a future update so server admins can set this on their server. · Behemoth on/off toggle A new setting for admins where they can turn off the Behemoth from spawning on their servers. · Whole Magazine Reload A setting from previous Hardcore versions. Admins will have access to turn it on or off on their servers. We are also looking into a re-design of how the server browser displays servers. We currently feel that the DICE Official Servers are washing out all the quality rented servers and making it difficult for players to find their favorite servers. In an effort to address this, we are looking into giving all rented servers priority in the server browser. This means that rented servers will always be displayed at the top of the server browser. There are other functions that we are planning for the re-design that we are not ready to talk about just yet. These functions that are in development will make the overall experience to find and join a rented server much easier and making popular rented servers even more visible inside the game. Sincerely Alexander "Striterax" Hassoon https://forums.battlefield.com/en-us/discussion/75357/an-update-on-the-rent-a-server-feature#latest

Crytek once again in crisis
Crytek Closes Five Studios After Rough Year After a year of financial hardship, Crytek is closing its studios in Hungary, Bulgaria, South Korea, China, and Turkey, the developer said today. Crytek says they plan to “refocus on its core strengths of developing innovative games and game-development technology.” This news comes after months of late and missing employee paychecks at the multinational developer, which will now retain only two studios, in Frankfurt, Germany and Kiev, Ukraine. In a press release, Crytek said that they’ve “put plans into action to secure jobs and to ensure a smooth transition and stable future” for those who will lose their jobs as part of the studio closures. Crytek, best known for games like Crysis and Ryse (and, more recently, VR games like Robinson The Journey), has been late to pay staff since May, sending paychecks weeks or sometimes months late throughout 2016. Last week, they finally paid staff for October, according to people who work there. But Crytek staff have been leaving in droves, sick of late payments and poor communication—much like what happened in 2014. The rumor among Crytek staff (passed along to Kotaku) is that the company also sold the free-to-play game Warface and its sequel to the Russian publisher Mail.ru. “Undergoing such transitions is far from easy, and we’d like to sincerely thank each and every staff member – past and present – for their hard work and commitment to Crytek,” said Crytek managing director Avni Yerli in a press release. “These changes are part of the essential steps we are taking to ensure Crytek is a healthy and sustainable business moving forward that can continue to attract and nurture our industry’s top talent. The reasons for this have been communicated internally along the way. Our focus now lies entirely on the core strengths that have always defined Crytek – world-class developers, state-of-the-art technology and innovative game development, and we believe that going through this challenging process will make us a more agile, viable, and attractive studio, primed for future success.” http://kotaku.com/crytek-closes-five-studios-after-rough-year-1790315044

Hardcore mode
Your right Larry. I guess the fact that 67% of game sales are on consoles and and being bought by people under the age of 25 and 2/3 of them are playing normal mode is name calling. I get confused
-
Hardcore mode
Getting awful defensive there Larry. I guess having kill cam and mini map and 3d spotting is OK for you but I just don't like it. I like the challenge. No name calling but easy mode is what the kids like these days and they all play on consoles... 25% more damage I guess is OP to Bottom line is this which ever mode you prefer: DICE needs to get their shit together so we can play together

Just goes to show you they are not paying attention to the community. 1 - FIX RSP! 2 - Fix 20 player start 3 - Fix setting so RSP servers can be found 4 - Fix Hardcore so it is easier to find. 5 - Kick/Ban in RSP 6 - More admins per server 7 - VIP slots 8 - Teamsync plugin for teamspeak users 9 - Chat filter 10 - Autobalancer 11 - Abilty to move players for balance 12 - Admin messages in RSP 13 - out of game browser for managing server 14 - Ability to run ALL maps in roation of RSP 15 - Ability to vote for next map 16 - class limiter and not class removal 17 - ping limiter 18 - region lock

Hardcore mode
Not true Larry, I just don't like easy mode. It's fine for kids and console players i guess but it's not for me. If you want to run and gun you will hate this mode. You have to slow down and look before you just start spraying. We took out a nest of snipers last night by using team work and not kill cam. You really have to be aware of your environment and every squad member must communicate with each other calling stuff out. I truly have fallen in love with BF1 since I figured out some of the settle little things in this game mode. It is quite fun. What I really miss is team sync more then anything. This game needs it so much more. If not, it is best to just be in a squad and each squad do their own thing together and hope the rest of the team does their jobs.

Rough day so far
That's are 7 contestants in our harley Davidson chili cook off. Not bad considering everything is covered in ice. One highway has stranded drivers on it overnight. A local TV reporter did an afternoon report while still from last night night. I have sampled all 7 chili's to. Plus cookies and fudge. Man my job is tough.
