  1. Ubisoft is running a Gamescom 2019 sale right now. You can get Siege for as little as $8.00. If you splurge, you can get all of the Year 1 Operators with the game for $12.00 total.
  2. Welcome from another Texas player.
  3. The critical update apparently makes anything VB related crash. If you're running anything that uses VB6, VBA (macros on spreadsheets), or VBScript... they will all fail on any version of Windows. Microsoft doesn't have a fix yet...
  4. Ubisoft posted the open beta on Uplay for Space Junkies (non-VR version). You can download and play for free. Looks a lot more arcade-like than anything else. Might be interesting for some of you. https://spacejunkiesgame.com
  5. Kotaku posted an article about the difficult place the gaming world is in. The thing that hit me the hardest was EA, Ubisoft and Activision dropped their release slate from 98 games in 2008 to 28 last year. That doesn't include expansions. They have also all but killed off their single player game slates (Ubisoft being a small exception). EA has only released 1 this year. This also reflects a new world where we are seeing games as a service eating up the space/resources of new games. This may leave the companies in a bad place where one major failure could take them down. The Video Game Industry Can't Go On Like This KOTAKU.COM At about this time next year, we’ll have a pretty good idea of what the next generation of video games will look like. New consoles will likely be shown off, bold new streaming initiatives will begin to launch, and we’ll see all the wonderful kinds of games they will bring us. All these new things will come, and we’ll…
  6. Looks like an upcoming patch is nerfing the shield melee too.
  7. There are multiple defenses. You can attack their back because they are slow AF. They cannot fire without lowering their shield and exposing their head. So keep a bead on their head. No shield fully protects an operator. Blitz can be hit in the shoulder or legs. Montagne and Clash have full frontal protection but impact grenades behind them are deadly. Even in a corner you can shoot Montagne on the sides. You can melee Clash to get her shield to raise and shoot her in the right leg while she stumbles.
  8. Guy who started the trend of Christmas DDoS attacks on gaming services gets 27 months in prison and a $95,000 fine. Not long enough... Hacker who launched DDoS attacks on Sony, EA, and Steam gets 27 months in prison WWW.ZDNET.COM Six years later, DerpTrolling, the hacker who started all the Christmas DDoS attacks, gets prison time.
  9. Looks like we're sending a quadcopter to Titan. Should be interesting. Drones invading everything from games to space now. NASA's Dragonfly Mission to Titan Will Look for Origins, Signs of Life | NASA WWW.NASA.GOV NASA has announced that our next destination in the solar system is the unique, richly organic world Titan. Advancing our search for the building blocks of life, the Dragonfly mission will fly multiple sorties to sample and examine sites around Saturn’s icy moon.
  10. If you're working to unlock the Gunner class or to get the season pass perks for the same class, do know you can sneak your way around some of the restrictions. For example, anyone in your squad can complete requirements for you. Need to kill 50 confused enemies? Just bring along some friends and their confused enemy kills count too. One of the most irritating ones is getting 100 kills in the open world with mounted guns. Any kill counts as a mounted gun kill as long as one person is operating the gun. That means one guy can be sitting on the gun and someone else can rack up the bodies in the general area. A lot faster than waiting for control points to flip. One last tip is dealing with the Basilisk quest. This one requires removing all of his armor before killing him. It is easy to accidentally kill him before removing all 6 pieces of his armor (head, chest, left arm, right arm, left leg, right leg). Use stunning gadgets like foam with a good pistol to carefully strip him of his armor. Start with the harder pieces like his shoulders and legs. If his health is below 1/4 with more than one piece remaining, make sure to let him kill you or you'll be replaying a lot of the mission to try again should you kill him too early.
  11. Sounds like the same argument a casino would make for a slot machine. The problem is these "surprise" mechanics are just forms of gambling where the house always wins. It's predatory especially when duplicates are involved. Collectible card games have used random booster packs for decades and it is just awful. Spend $100 to maybe get the card you want or buy it from someone who did find it for 8x more. Worse yet, the luckier folks or the ones with deeper pockets are stacked to win with rarer finds. The mechanic just sucks. Its existence and people's complicity in it does not make it ethical. It is plain old maximizing profits by preying on those more inclined to gamble. Good fair sport or gaming shouldn't just be about who has the deepest pockets or the luckiest roll. Let's play chess not craps.

  18. @TomC We have been playing Division 2 later in the week. The end game content resets occur every Thursday, so you'll see us on around then. Episode 1 will be dropping in July to give us the national zoo. I know a few people have picked it up recently too. The clan has an official ingame clan which is TheArmoryClan on search. You cant join until you earn a few levels first (in game unlock required).
  19. Also, it is on sale for 33% off during E3, along with a slew of other Ubisoft games. Siege, for example, is down to $12. Good time to try out a few new titles for sure.

  21. I hope it lives up to the predecessors. They have a lot of expectations.
  22. Looks like the folks at WW3 are giving in and doing a free weekend coming up. It will occur in June but the dates have not yet been announced. Keep a look out for it, if you would like to try the game. 23. There weren't any obvious instructions in WW3 on how to spawn in beyond captured points and home base. As of the latest updates, you can now spawn on teammates or your squad lead. You can do this buy clicking on any of the green dots on the map (squad mates) or the yellow star (squad lead). If you did this correctly, a set of white brackets will appear on the person before you hit the deploy button. You can also spawn on the new spawn APC that shows on the map too. Want to stop players from spawning? Use a jammer in the area you're attacking to stop nearby respawns from occuring. Didn't spawn where you thought you were going to spawn? Well, maybe you got jammed or the player you were spawning on died. A point could have temporarily lost control too. Also keep in mind they changed how spawn points work. You no longer spawn in a tightly clustered space around a point. Spawn spots are varied over a wide area to let you get into the battle without facing spawn camping. For example, you might spawn in a tunnel one time but on the street another time at the same control point.
  24. I agree. The larger player count causes its own problems beyond connectivity. Can make taking over points a stubborn affair and lead to more random instances of getting killed by someone you couldnt counter. The 15 on a side still felt "big" at times but let to much more manageable skirmishes. It also kept the matches closer. There weren't enough people to stay on every point so there was an actual flow of capture/loss.
