Nothing wrong with NF or WOW. NF has rekindled my love of gaming. So far though EA and SD Enternet seem to be sister companies when it comes to patches. Listen to the public and screw up the patch. Sound familiar? What would make BF2 sooo much better would be to have a Menu system like FA did and pick what you want to carry. No armor. Die faster but carry more. Heavy Armor. Carry less but take more damage. I would love to be able to mix it up and have that happen in BF2. It would make the game SOOO much more interesting. With all the different guns. It would be fun to mix and match.

It is the Mobo. Not the powersupply. Your Mobo is technically out of date for that card. It will work but not at full power. AGP slots of that error used a differetn power reqirement compared to today. I would assume that this could be the isue with the 9600XT and the other Board. Just a little older and conflitcing stuff.

That is why I posted as I did. Many times a Powersurge will set off the powersupply or mobo and make it act funny. Do the above b/c it sets everything back to normal so to speak by discharging all latent stored energy in the system. Actually its the Gremlins that do it over night. :peace:

Keep your chin up. Stuff happens. PLay some games and get your mind off it.

Try unplugging the powercord. Press the power button a few times. Let is sit over night like this. Try restarting in the morning after plugging the powercord back in.

They are cool. DLP, LCD, Plasma HDTV's are all wonderful to watch. I have a 52" LCD I got a year and a half ago. I would never go back to normal TV.

Well you got a 256mb card. If the memory is slower on that card as thye usually make it. Most 6600GT's had 128 of fast memory. 256of slow memory will slow it down. Turn all lighting to low or off. Run at 1024x768. Medium all settings. Run your sound at software low. They try it. Use new drivers too. Increase ingame settings a few at a time. After you find the one that is causing the problem. Then put the sound back where you had it.

You can always swap out a cpu or videocard in the future. 6800 is a little old is all.

Dont get a dual core proc. Get a 7800GT instead. Much better performance and the same price.

I don't think so. I thought HL was its own thing. I know HL2 was. HL could also run on Glide 3dfx. Quake 2 or 3 couldn't so.....

Can't be too bad. Call Of Duty was using the Q3 engine for a while. The COD2 did not.

One thing I have found is the full client patch solves a lot of the patching problems. Not all but some.

When ya coming over Steve? I have some BF2 computers that still work. Mine does but only BF2. Not BF2 and SF. Both my sons work. one is ATI the other is Nvidia. All in all. Out of 10 computers. 8 can and 2 cannot after the patch. Not good odds if you ask me. GG EA. One thing I found. If you have a monitor and hook up a lesser refreshrate monitor tot he same PC. It will not start up BF2. Crashes to desktop. Like if you take your PC over to your friends and it wont work but it works at your house. I feel sorry for people that get new monitors and the game does not work. Then have the patch mess it up too. Man EA needs to get stuff straight.
