Played for a couple of maps. my fps had dropped from a solid 85 down to 42. That was on river and the crash beta map.

strange, I run a FX5200 as well, but I get steady 85 FPS on Halflife. I also have a 2.4 ghz p4 as well though.There was a program that Mac had that boosted me from 40 to 85.

I have been playing DC for about 3/4 of a month now, and I have realised several things about the long-range sniping system that are noteworthy. 1. Unless you spawn-camp, it is nearly impossible to get frags This is a no brainer, mostly because most of the large maps that we play on there are 40+ vehicles to choose from, and you cant kill somebody with a sniper rifle that is inside of a tank. The smaller maps that don't have very many vehicles aren't very well suited to sniping anyway. The only exception to this rule is grabbing a m82 on the coalition team on el-amin-something and camping just outside the opp. base. 2. Most of the sniper rifles in the game are useless I'm refering to the sniper rifles that are available to the "sniper" class that is chosen in the spawn window. These rifles are simply not accurate enough. I have been prone, and have emptied 20 rounds at a stationary target, without even hitting the target. Also, the sound of the shot is loud enough to wake the dead from the other side of the map. The VSS and Car-15 are also both usless in long-range sniping. The only rifle that I would ever consider using in a match is the m82. 3. Even though the m82 is a good rifle, it is underpowered. The m82 is refered to as a "anti-material" rifle. The 0.50 caliber bullet it uses is said to be able to take out a lightly-armored vehicle. And yet, it still can't even scratch a missle-arty truck. Any other thoughts on this topic would be appreciated

same here. I usually play at about 7:00 pacific standard. The other servers I usually use are the nvidea #1,2 and 3 64 player servers.

Personally I lost about 90% of my respect for valve after HL2 didn't come out in the early summer, like they said it would, or september, like they said it would, or even december, like they said it would.I'm not buying HL2, not matter what....Edit...BTW, in case any Valve employee is reading this, I spent the money I had put away for HL2 on BF:1942.
