In that first week where ALL the ranked servers were filled to the brim, I spent many an hour on the poor, little unranked servers. Many of them had the unlockables available. Now one really weird find was an official/ranked server that had the unlockables open as well. Lost the IP in my scribbling over the past two weeks, but it was definitely ranked (added a medal on the server and stats were added). Ashamedly, I haven't even been on our OWN unranked server for over a week, but I think we had the unlockables open at one time. Lemme check with our admin and find out how. Bottom line right now is that the "stats-ferver" has everyone clammering to the ranked servers. I've fallen prey to this as well, as we all seem to gather on the points servers to fill out that ribbon board... :peace: It'll wear off eventually. The best game-play I've ever had in BF2 was on unranked servers where people play the game, not do stupid things to garner ribbons.

Keep in mind that many of the unranked servers have the lockables open, so everyone has access to every weapon anyway. As the past two weeks have gone by, more and more unranked servers seem to be going that way.

Look at the code and you'll see why: Going prone - even midair - gives you the same "accuracy" as if you were prone on the ground.

Nope, that's definitely Advanced Infantry training...

Aside from the technical issues of stalled browsers, non-assignable buttons, etc, just wondering what everyone's biggest "pet peeves" are with gameplay. Topping my list would be the mental-midgets who put themselves into a TK position THEN punish for the TK on top of it. Common examples of these vermin would be: (1) The fool who runs straight at an aircraft taking off, directly into the path of a moving HMMWV, or tries to hide UNDER my APC while I'm actively engaged with another armor unit. (2) The moron who approaches from behind, SEES you laying down a field of fire, then runs directly THROUGH said fire field. Here's a tip: ALL the small arms in BF2 have two ends - the open end of the barrel is the end from whence the bullets exit. Don't run in FRONT of the open end! The lack of situational awareness of some of these people astounds me. Mistakes happen, but yeeesh - don't punish someone when you decide to dance in an active line of fire...
  6. My 6600 smokes like a demon in BF2. No problems whatsoever.
  7. Nuthin' like the threat of an angry, torch-bearing mob and limb removal to encourage those in the retail world to understand your point of view. (You'd think Mac woulda offered to buy my copy for me after all the effort, but...)
  8. Suuure, easy for you to say. You didn't have to threaten, er, I mean "properly motivate", that poor kid at the counter to get them outa lock-up in the back room!
  9. If anyone's looking for a very thorough "tutorial" on how to force the blocked/default keybinds, here's about the best going at the moment: BF2 KEYBIND EDITTING Explains all the variables associated with the binding commands as well. A bit much to plow through, but very detailed. A few examples follow in the posts following the tutorial.
  10. Here's a snippet from the BF2 Readme file. 12. Believe it or not, the wheel shields (aka, mudflaps) are better than legal. If you've ever wondered where the heck that Trigonometry class would pay off, here it comes: The maximum angle allowable from the road surface to the bottom of the flap is 22.5 degrees. The tangent of 22.5 degrees is 0.4142. This angle is obtained by meansurement "X": the distance measured rearward on the roadway from the vertical centerline of the tire to the vertical line of the flap (or in the absence of a flap, the rear edge of the vehicle). Measurement "Y" becomes the maximum allowable distance from the road surface to the bottom of the flap. So, Y/X = Tangent 22.5 (0.4142). Clearly then, the further back the flap is from the tire, the greater is measurement "X". In order to maintain a minimum agle of 22.5 degrees as described above, the flap that is further back from the tire (greater "X") would provide better protection (lesser angle of deviation from the road surface to the bottom of the flap) than a flap closer to the wheel. Here in PA, the tint looks marginal (70% minimum light transmittance required), the lift looks legal; but those wheels extending out so far without flares would be a serious violation - the mud flaps do nothing regardless of where they are with the tread so far beyond the body line. One thing that does look odd to me: What is the small "emblem" behind the driver's side door? Chevy's typically have a model emblem located there, but I don't recall Dodge having one there. But otherwise, I'm with S.C. - There's half a pound of fresh white in a hidden door compartment.
  13. Tires extend out laterally past the body line (way past, from the looks of it).

That claymation is a David Firth. Firth is more than a "little odd". His site is not for the weak of heart, nor those easily offended by dark subject matter. He does, however, have a "lighter side" as well. Many more of his works at: http://www.fat-pie.com . (UH's original warning/disclaimer would certainly apply... )
  15. Jiga, Sent you a PM with some info. -Shootz
  16. LOL! Maybe if -ZarkSnipers- ever decide to dump me... (but then Mac would use the membership to get out of the "excessive noise" complaints at his house during those 20-man LAN parties...). As far as brightness, the M6 has the same torch as the M3, and should have the same output. I haven't seen them on side-by-side, but didn't notice an obvious difference between the two. I'm hoping they gave you holsters that accept the 22 with the light attached? Otherwise be careful - I've seen another officer slap one on in a takedown situation only to realize that when he needed his hands quickly he couldn't re-holster. :?
  17. SC, Check out the new M6 models. Same M3 torch with an integrated laser. http://www.streamlight.com/m6_information.htm (Streamlight is right down the road from me in Norristown, PA... )
  18. This would explain all the "Excessive Noise" complaints coming from the neighbors. Next time you have a LAN party, it would be much safer to INVITE the police to avoid potential "problems"...
  19. As I know all <TAC> members conduct themselves in the most honorable fashion, a standing invitation is always open for you at the Zark Snipers DC (Final) server. IP is 69.93.197.180 (find it under server field as "-ZS- ZarkSnipers.com DC Final"). We're very laid back (heck, I don't even break a fret when Mac TK's me with one of his wild 'nade pitches... ) and play purely for fun. The server typically picks up later in the evening, but feel free to stop in anytime.
  20. Ah, there it is. My best suggestion for views such as this is to foster your faith in those ideological systems by means of immersion. Spend a year in a true communist society, then return and tell us of its many benefits. Ours is certainly far from the perfect system. My only regret is that that vast majority of youth, in this country at least, who dwell on its shortcomings never experience the "idealogically superior" systems abroad.
  21. Oddly enough, learning "how to live with each other" and taking responsibility for one's own actions used to be something that one learned from their family. Hmmm, perhaps that's the foundation to the "flaw" in the system you reference....?

Finner, www.fraggednation.com Prices are good, and I can vouch the servers are great. Your server set up will also include a TeamSpeak (15 man) server. Pretty good deal.

I also found that if you add custom MP3s to the "My Music" folder, this will override the standard, included song files. Was hoping to add some AC/DC to the list, but it appears it's one or the other... :?
  24. Hooohaaa! "And our band played Garryowen!!!" Nice review Orion!
