Which games do you (still) Play
Now that I have my computer up and running, with two 8800GT gfx cards and some neat after market coolers installed, with 6 noisy case fans. Well I think it's time to start gaming. I've over clocked the cards somewhat. I'm not too familiar with SLi, so I think I still have some tweaking to do. I've only installed ETQW, slightly disappointed with the performance for the effort involved. I plan on installing TF2, new maps and other features released! I am definitely installing BF2, I'm gonna max everything out on the gfx so that I can snipe from an effective distance. I want to have fun with my new machine, so I'm gonna try lots of different games to get a feel for what it can do. Still no COD4, I gave the disk to my nephew, it still gives me a headache.

Ok here you go, pics you wanted. This is my desk where I play when I get the chance, heaven willing. It's kind of cluttered, I'll take a pic of the rat's nest of wires, the comp is in the way in this pic. I also posted my two 8800GT cards, with the Duorb coolers installed. They are laying on the left panel of the computer, in the first pic the door was off. I was trouble shooting some hardware compatibility issues. I'll post some more when I get the time. They won't be any more spectacular than these two, maybe I can work on the lighting, get some composition going. I'll play around and see. /monthly_06_2011/post-1952-130810225353_thumb.jpg /monthly_06_2011/post-1952-130810225368_thumb.jpg

Quake Wars patch in Armory download?
Oh I know it's just so darn slow. I always have great results when I download from here at the Armory.

Quake Wars patch in Armory download?
I've reinstalled Windows about 30 times in the last three weeks. Long story, short version 2 of the 4GB of ram in my comp were bad. Anyway, I kept having to go and find the ET:QW patch. It would be great if we could add that to the game patch downloads area on the site. Just an idea.

What killed it?
I did do my best, but I am only one man. So take it as you will.

What killed it?
1.4 patch destroyed what was left of that game.

I'm new, Need Help
The thing with 2142 is the 1.4 patch. The servers are so unstable it's way too hard to keep the servers populated.

I'm new, Need Help
I don't think too many of us play this game that much any more. Sorry. Come join us in our other servers BF2, Enemy Territories: Quake Wars, or COD4!

My Setup
Oh boy. I've been meaning to take pix of my set up. I may get around to it soon. I want to do it before the wife an I swap the rooms. The room my comp is in gets sun all day and with the comp it gets uncomfortably hot. The wife and I are gonna move it to the room that is in shade most of the day so the room doesn't get as hot. lol Bless her heart for wanting to help me(forcing me).

Keep your eyes open for Tigercon!
I've been reading lots of reviews on the interwebs and I found a few on this card, but only with 256MB ram, they weren't great. I started to feel bad. They said that the GT was on par with the 7600GT and the GTS was on par with the 7900GS. Well I priced the 7900 and it was still rather expensive. So I'm ugrading him from the 7300GT backup card I had, and at least this 8600GT has 512MB DDR3 ram, and is DX10 compatible. I gave Tigercon my old comp. PentiumD 960 duel core 2GB ram 4x512mb sticks 320GB Seagate Baracuda 10.11 7200rpm Abit AW8D mobo supports cross fire 550W Coolermaster Real Power Pro >80% Coolermaster case of some sort. 7300GT nVidia(old) , 8600GT 512MB DDR3(new) 15" Gateway monitor CD/DVD burner. New cumfort curve keyboard Microsoft led mouse with two thumb buttons. I'm gonna give him my Razor Baracuda head phones if he decides they don't hurt too much. It's not much, but it'll surf the net, do home work, play most games reasonably well(with new gfx). I love the kid to death.

Keep your eyes open for Tigercon!
My wife asked my sister if he played the game often, you see if he didn't I wasn't gonna buy him the card, she said he played it awwwwwwwwlllllllllllllllll the time. So I figured I'd get him the card. I bought the little tyke the GeForce 8600GT 512MB. I hope he likes it. I have no idea when it will be in though maybe next week. Let's hope I'm home to install it! Wife said I have to buy the niece a bike cause all the stuff I've been getting Tigercon, it wasn't fair, cause they weren't even.

Which car you prefer?
Hmmm, the first one's a toughy. I will never get to drive either of these cars so. Well I asked the wife if I could get one and she "sure." I don't think she meant it. Whatever, I want the M3, hands down. The second one not so tough, the infinity just never appealed to me, so 335i.

Keep your eyes open for Tigercon!
Yeah I got a kick out of it. My sister brayed like a mule she thought it was so funny. Of course she does that for most everything, but I liked it nonetheless. I had a couple other ideas too. I tried to change his name in the game. It didn't do, I thought you could change your game name to something different from your account name.

Keep your eyes open for Tigercon!
I got my nephew the ETQW game when I gave him my old system. I got him online, showed him the basics. I don't know how much he has gotten to play though. The 7300GT I had in that comp doesn't really do a good job. I'm thinking of buying him a new card, maybe a GeForce 8600GT SSC 256MB or maybe this, GeForce 8600GT 512MB. I'm leaning towards the cheaper one, it's also factory overclocked. I hope that doesn't make me cheap. His name is Tigercon, he may also be nightstalker, I'm not too sure. So if you see him, make friends. Add him to your friend list, and tell him you know me from the site. Help him learn how to play. He is 11 so be nice. I'm gonna set him up with the Armory in his favorites when I get the chance. I also gave him my copy of COD4 but I don't think that card will play it well, I don't know. Anyway I haven't set that game up for him yet. When I do I'll put the Armory in his favorites. I wanted him to use the name lilgado but he didn't go for it.

I can't stop playing Guitar Hero 3!
I have never heard about this, whatever do you mean? Calibrate my tv to for the game. I was thinking it had something to do with the signal being sent to the Wii through the Wiimote, and the size of the screen making the relative sizes of the game stretch out, therefore appearing to be moving slower.

I can't stop playing Guitar Hero 3!
Man I'm loving this game! I heard you guys talk about it thinking can it be all that great? Well it is really fun. I first played it on my nephew's PS2, we bought it for him for XMass, I had a blast so I got it for the Wii. I should have gotten the PS2 version, there seems to be some sort of lag, anyone else experience this phenomenon? I think I'm gonna buy it for the PS before I get too far along. The difference from the PS to the Wii is very noticeable, my nephew even pointed it out to me. I don't know if it is because he has my old 27" Sony CRTand plays on that, or becuase I'm playing on a 50" Sony LCD. Maybe the bigger screen makes a difference? So any insight is welcome.

AMD Rip? cpus BUILT by IBM?
Yeah I hear with what you're saying. I didn't know that's how much they paid. I think that there are way too many rumors about who is going to buy AMD to take any seriously. Panasonic, nVidia, IBM, yadda yadda. I'll believe it when I see it. HA hahahha, how come the fact that IBM's stock went down because people heard about the proposed buyout wasn't mentioned? Good stuff, funny funny.

Computer evolution tech. Neat, had to share.
This article is so neat. I just had to share it. Enjoy. Got to the neatorama link for the actual article discussed in this gizmodo article. http://www.neatorama.com/2008/01/25/the-wonderful-world-of-early-computing/ 8:00 PM ON FRI JAN 25 2008 BY SEAN FALLON 6,220 views A History of Early Computing, Warning: Learning is Involved http://gizmodo.com/assets/resources/2008/01/caveman.jpg The folks over at Neatorama have put together a good semi-brief history of the world of early computing for anyone interested in learning a thing or two. By the way, when I say early, I mean really early?the saga begins with a 35,000-year-old baboon fibula that early bushmen were using as a makeshift calculator. Admittedly, there are a few glaring omissions, but sacrifices had to me made. I mean, I want to learn?but not if it is going to take all day. [Neatorama]
