The revolution has begun!
Well, the leap into the next generation of computers has finnaly come together. Many of you have been hearing about PCI-E for a long time. That right there was a major leap, but now that and much more is comming together really fast. PCI-E PCI-E is bringing more possablities to any type of expantion hardware, but mainly video cards and sounds cards. The increase right now is up to 500Mbs, but will continue to increase by just adding a multiplyers. Or the PCI-E 4x which is what the recent PCI-E video cards are using. Socket 775 (Socket T) Intel has decided to start the next level of processors, pinless processors. Now right now the pins are on the motherboards, and have beside a much lower voltage really show no preformance leap. It also only adds a great new mounting for CPU fans. Overall a lower voltage will give some head room for faster processors, etc. DDR2 Now the last but now least, DDR2. It currently runs at 533mhz, and clocks at 4-4-4-10, but that means nothing becuase it is still faster than DDR. Now, the revolution has begun. Motherboard are coming out everywhere with these features. They are the beginning of a new age in computers, which on avrage only last 2-3 months, but still we are going to see great improvments in the next year. This is truly an exciting time!

SkYnEt's New Computer
See, since I have 56k I don't get to really enjoy my FPS games that much, so when I am not playing WC3, I am usally looking at parts. Ok, almost every day. I keep everything up to date, and if I see a good sale, then I take it into consideration due to many different factors. One thing I have noticed when I look at those sites that you customize your computer, they must have like a $300 labor cost, or somthing. It is amazing. Now I am not talking about Alienware, they don't count because they don't have a goal to make a "cheaper" computer, they only do top of the line stuff.Sam, looks like you are pretty smart to have done what you have with your rocks and grass.

SkYnEt's New Computer
I am building my own computer too. I am spending about $950 on it. I have everything in a Excel document. Everything has been exstensivly researched. I already have the case and the power supply, paid $80 total. But I still have a ways to go with it. Do you know how much you are planning to spend?

What is up with my comp?
Ok, I had this happen to me too. It took me awhile to figure it out. Some time you double clicked on the grey part of the box, that made it minimize. Just double click it again. That should work.If that didn't make any sence just start randomly double-clicking, that is how I figured it out in the first place.

Take a clsoer look!!!
I know you aren't talking about me, Sam. I will have to agree on this, because I know my works can be mixed up sometimes, but still it is true can still understand them. UNLESS, you are little slower up there. It is really cool how fast the brain is. Sometimes I have heard people say, Human are smarter than computers, but computers are jsut faster. Well, that is incorrect too. The human brain has to reconize people, it does this my minor characteristics. Very detailed things, and you do it in less then seconds. Also think about how we tell if things are 3D. Our eys pick up the shadows of the object to tell distance and size. The mind also has to compute alot of stuff when you just throw a ball up and down. When to through and when/how to catch it. The brain is the most intersting thing on planets, and even though it is part of us we know very little about it.

Computer is acting slow, and Q about XP: Pro
OK, well I did what Paladin said an then tryed Google.com on IE. It worked, but not because of disabling the servies, how do I know? I didn't restart yet.But if Pro isn't much better then I am getting HomeCheaper. Only real reason. Unless something eludes me...

Computer is acting slow, and Q about XP: Pro
Ya, sorry, didn't give specs. But this is an old comp anyway. Got it in 2002. (LONG time in computer time) HP Pavilion 751n - ASUS P4S-LA - Pentium 4, core speed 1.8ghz - 512mb(2x256mb) DDR 2100 - PNY GeForce FX 5700 Ultra - hard drive SAMSUNG SV8004H 70gb 38% free space Just tell me is you need to know anything else. I have defraged, i have Norton, running and i have scanned. Now, I added the extra 256mb about 7months ago added the video card about 3months ago This computer has run very stable for a long time. It has had problems before, but I have fixed the other perfectly. Now I will say it only lags up some times. like for the last 4 hours before when I was righting this it has been fine. All I use Mozilla for is Google.com. IE doesn't like google.

Computer is acting slow, and Q about XP: Pro
Ok, I really have no way to tell you how slow it is. I can say that it seemed to have started when I noticed that IE6 didn't like to use Google.com, at all. It would just freeze up. Well, I thought, I can deal with that. I tried to remove and reinstall, which seemed never to work quite right. I would "remove" it in the Add/Remove Windows Components, but I never would let me install it with the setup installer, I could only go and tell the Add/Remove Windows Components to add it. Didn't work, got Mozilla. It isn't bad, and Google.com works on that. Now it just acts slow. The whole computer, not just IE "Not Responding". I tried to shut the computer down, well (I have XP: Home) I would click the shut down button and it would would just close the menu. Well I was doing other stuff and then "WINDOWS IS SHUTING DOWN". It took about 3:30 minutes for it to give me the screen. Again, it just takes it a few second longer to do anyting. It is very annoying. Now the question about XP: Professional. I believe that I should just format my Hard Drive, or get a new one. Now I am going to kill two birds with one stone. I am also, slowly, building a new computer. I figure that I need to get the OS anyway and I should just buy that now and install on my old comp. Now, A) I have heard that I can install Pro on as many as I want. Is that true? IF not, then I can buy licences for addional computers/ how much would that cost? What are also some things that make Pro "better" that Home? Heard it would be better for someone like me that feels babied when I use Home. I also heard it is better for gaming, dont' know why, doesn't make much sence to me, but whatever. Or, is it just as good to buy Home because Pro give a bunch of things I don't needed. (AKA, i don't really needed Works, I have Works 2002 on a CD already.)Thanks to any help!

my fps sucks
I have a GeForce FX 5700 Ultra, and I can't get anyting much higher than 60 on FireArms. Now in BF1942/DC I get 100fps all the time. The reason for this is probably my processer, but that is odd because I have the DC graphics set to the max and resolution to 1024/768. In FA it is only 800/600. This seems kind of odd, but I think I am getting higher in FA than what is says. Like once I was playing and it said I was getting only 12fps, but it obivouly wasn't. SO who knows?

Rage against the machine?
Rage had there song at the end of both the 1st and 2nd Matrix movies. 1st one was "Wake Up". VERY good song. I think one of their bests.2nd one was "Calm like a Bomb". This is pretty good, but that is too much screaming for me.Lincoln is a good candidate! "Four score and seven years ago, our forefathers..."

BEST GUITARIST?
Carlos Santana is very skilled, but ya, Eddy Van Halen is pretty good.

This REALLY SUXORS> I MEAN REALLY
Well, you don't really want to consider it an upgrade, but more of a new system purchase. What you have to do is say this is what level of technology I want to be at and do it. The say that you want to upgrade or even make a new purchase a year later to stay at a good place. Because, what it comes down to is that there is going to be a time when you can't just upgrade your computer. There are always leaps of technology being add and you have to say you want to be at that point.PCI-X will rock when it gets going. :)Some motherboard offer it, but it isn't that good yet so they only suggest it for better sound card quality.

Please welcome <TAC> Luker3 to the ranks of TA
Ok, DoL Clan members, if you remember, I quit DoL almost 4 months ago. Plus, TA also plays Desert Combat, and if they didn't run PunkBuster then I could play, because I lag when PB is scanning me every minute. But o well, FireArms is fine too! And again, Thanks!

Please welcome <TAC> Luker3 to the ranks of TA
It was kind of surprising when I found out. Here is the story.I decided that I would go and play a little FireArms on the Armory. I download the patches and stuff, but when I connected I was welcomed with, "Welcome to <TAC> Luker3!" I was a little puzzled that it said this, thinking that it was a new welcoming thing TA set up, but when I looked at the scores...<TAC> Luker3!It was rather cool how it happened. :PThanks!

Ok, so low-density RAM. I will say that there might have been somthing about that when I searched for it on Crucial.com. I was able to find the exact computer model. And when at Crucial it gave the option of PC133 and PC100. It said that eather would work.

Memory Compilancy
Ok, my father and I have been trying to add RAM to an old Gateway, because it only have 64mb.We first bought (because of my Dad) some cheap PC133 256mb RAM off NewEgg.com. Well it reconized it and you could us it UNTIL you use more than 233mbs (64+256=320) of RAM. Well, we decided to buy some other RAM. We went to Office Max and got some SpecTech or somthing P133 256mb. Well I put it in and it started up...didn't find it, said that the Bank 1 slot was empty. So I ran that CPU-Z program. It says 64mbs of ram total, BUT reconizes the 256mb in Bank 1.Here are the specs.Gateway Pentium III 733mhz133mhz BUSIt is one of those flat cases, so EVERTHING is intergrated. Any Suggestions?
