They give test for other agencies all the time.....You may have to work for a small department to start out. Thats what I did two months after turning 20. In my state you can become an officer at 19 however it is very hard to do as most agencies will not put you on the road until you are 21. This is because the department has got to provide you with a weapon under federal guidelines. I am not sure about other states. I think GA is 19 also but I am not 100% sure about that. Anyway working 1 or 2 years at a smaller department can be a great way to step up because you tend to get more training than in some of the larger urban depts. I worked for 4.5 years at a smaller dept where I got to do everything from investigations to command a shift just before leaving. Now I have been with the state for 1 year and the pay is good but not anywhere close to 100k. One thing you have to look at with high paid depts is the cost of living in the area. I only make in the 30s BUT the cost of living is so low here I can live as well or better than someone making 100k in LA. If you are wanting a job in law enforcement Alabama is a GREAT place for young people. I would be glad to tell you which area is better than others. I have one of my fellow agents looking over me now asking if I am a working for a recruiting bonus.... I guess I need to get back to work.....

Being a COP is cool and we have a little saying in the SWAT community about when we are all decked out.CDI = Chicks Dig ItSomething about when a woman finds out you are a cop. Not to mention its fun as hell and you make much better than minimum wage. Granted you are not going to be rich but its better than a lot of people make.

Well I have a lot of games I play. BF1942 for one and the mod for it dessert combat rocks! I also like to play WWIIOLINE...there is nothing like having 20000+ or so people one BIG server! If you have not heard of WWIIOL then its like a tank sim, flight sim, first person shooter, and much more rolled into one game. The planes shooting at the ground troops are really other people playings as ground troops. It cost 12.99 a month to play though and you have to have one kick butt system to have even a playable frame rate. Just got back from the widespread panic concert.....we got around 150+ scum bags! It was GREAT! About ever third one wanted to fight Nothing like walking to a dope dealer and sticking your badge in their face saying "State Police your under arrest" then the fights on! GOD I LOVE IT!As for the guys asking about the SMG......I only had my .45 that day....my CAR15 had been giving me problems (fixed now).... some of the others you will see me with a CAR 15 (shorty M16) which is tricked out.
